Hi, I’m new. I’m a junior in high school and I’m part of the school’s orchestra program as well as the extracurricular fiddle group. I just got back from an awesome trip to China, and I was amazed at how internationally loved a good old fiddle tune is. Has anyone else traveled abroad?

Today marks my two-week anniversary in my life as a fiddle owner. I bought the cheapest fiddle Musician's Friend had to offer, and it could be just because I don't tend to play with my guitar and mandolin that close to my ear, but I'm blown away by the volume and resonance of this thing. I've had two students for a while now, and starting tomorrow- I have NINE! little girls under 10, who want to try fiddle. Ages are mostly 4, 5, and 6 (I know, young- very young). I was wondering if anyone had any great teaching games that they played with kids that were musically related, or any handy techniques? Any good simple tunes to teach? ( ( Read more... )
