Title: The Calm After the Storm
Characters: Spock/Uhura

Summary: When Spock frustrates Uhura, she seeks comfort in the stars and the silence.
A/N: I was listening to Denison Witmer when I wrote this one; it's probably the whole reason for the tone it carries. The song I was listening to when I wrote most of this is under the cut.
Passing broken knee, I could hardly speak
My apology felt late at best.
- "From Here on Out" Denison Witmer
She leaned against the window's frame, gazing out at the stars. Even the beauty of their twinkling light couldn't jar her mind from it's current preoccupation.
She ran her hand down her left arm in an attempt to smooth out the goosebumps. Uhura wasn't cold; she was just unnerved. She sighed deeply in her frustration...with him.
The door to the otherwise empty observation deck opened. She knew it was Spock; he knew she was upset and he knew that she often came here to relax or vent. The stars were calming. The forty foot window gave a beautiful panoramic view, uninterrupted and clear.
She fought the urge to look over her shoulder. Show him how upset you are.
Within seconds his footsteps stopped; he was so close she could hear his calm breathing. She huffed, hoping he'd notice her breathing was not regular. Serrated. Barbed.
When he placed fingertips on her back, he initially recoiled. It took him a couple more seconds before he placed firm fingertips on her shoulder blades, and ran them softly over to her spine. No, she thought, Don't make me lose my irritation.
Within seconds, the ice around her heart melted and she placed her face into his chest.
