We went to the Coon Dog Cemetery www.coondogcemetery.com (near Cherokee, AL) (like anyone knows where that is) for the annual Coon Dog Festval held every Labor Day.  This is listed as one of the top ten events to go to in Alabama for the month of September (go figure?)

After a one hour plane ride to Atlanta, 5 hours to Los Angeles, and 14 hours to Sydney, we arrived at our hotel, Travelodge Sydney:
Left on Saturday night, got there Tuesday morning.  The room was great.  It had a refrig and microwave.  It was in walking distance of the harbor, the botanical gardens, the opera house, Hyde Park,  Chinatown, etc.

Went on a super cruise with debgirl001  and buffaloeater, Julia and Eliana.  Had a fabulous time.  We were dreading the ride to Miami in the Suburban but it was great.  We were all pluged into ipods,  dvd players and so forth on the way down and on the way back..  The ride seemed quick.    Here is D, Eliana, Debgirl,Julia, Buffaloeater, and G getting on the ( Read more... )

Spent the weekend in Birmingham with friends and attended the Davis Cup Tennis tournament - USA vs Switzerland.  Drove down and back on Friday. Saturday, and Sunday.  Unfortunately Roger Federer (Gs favorite player) had back problems and didn't play.  Fortunately Roger Federer had back problems, didn't play, and as a result, USA won 4-1.

Went to Biloxi this past week end for buffaloeater's birthday.  Of course debgirl001 was also there.  Went through Tuscaloosa, Meridian, and Haitesburg to get there, and of course did some geocaching.  Got 13 caches before it go dark.  Then on Saturday, we did some more caches in the Biloxi area.  Got another 27.  The most memorable was one called "Smiles and Giggles ( Read more... )

I had to find a place to go this weekend being that I didn't want to work the rummage sale at church.  I  did my duty by sorting  "stuff"  for two afternoons.   I told everyone I was going out of town and couldn't possibly be there on Saturday at 6:00 a.m.  I had to leave because a lot of church people live in the  neighborhood.  I didn't want to ( Read more... )

Ok debgirl001  showed us a Utube video on how to make an airzooka.  Looked pretty neat, so D built one.  We must be living in the house too long, because all the pieces were in the garage.  It puts out a candle at about 15 feet, not the 20 feet claimed in the Utube video.  Still pretty neat:
