Jin opened his eyes and first thing he saw was Kazuya’s peaceful, sleeping face. He blinked his eyes, sighed slightly and shifted back from the edge of the bed.
He lay in Kazuya’s bed, while Kazuya was lying in Tegoshi’s bed, only the very small night stand between them.
Just like a million times before during the night, it crossed Jin’s mind that he would only have to reach out and he could touch Kazuya’s face.
When Kazuya had offered him to sleep in his room, Jin had probably gotten everything completely wrong.
When they had come into the room, Kazuya had said calmly that Tegoshi didn’t like other people sleeping in his bed, so, since he was closer to Tegoshi, he had said he would sleep in his friend’s bed and Jin should sleep in Kazuya’s.
For a moment, Jin had only stared at him and Kazuya had given him a mocking smile.
“Don’t get the wrong idea”, he had said to Jin. “I am not planning to let you touch me.”
That had been clear enough and because Jin respected Kazuya and had sworn to himself that he wouldn’t push Kazuya, he had held back.
It had been a bad decision.
Two years ago, Jin had had really bad nights, the worst nights he could remember up until today. He had lain awake for hours, not getting sleep for a single hour throughout a whole night.
Kazuya had just changed his life back then, making Jin sleepless, because he had been thinking of the younger one all the time. Of his words, his action, the way Jin was constantly falling more and more for Kazuya.
This had been worse.
The damn pillow smelled of Kazuya and he only had to reach out for what he wanted and yet, he couldn’t.
This was, Jin was certain about it, what people called torture.
Of course, he hadn’t accepted Kazuya’s decision that easily. When Kazuya had come out of the bathroom, Jin ad already stripped down to wearing nothing but his boxers, waiting for Kazuya. But the younger one had only given him a quick glance, obviously irritated, but had laid down then, facing with his back to Jin.
“Don’t even think of it, Jin”, Kazuya had said coldly, when Jin had just been about to get up and sneak over to him, into his bed.
So, Jin had remained in his bed, being awake for the whole night, staring at the ceiling, trying to ignore Kazuya beside him.
But, looking at him now, Jin noticed Kazuya just lay as close to the edge of his bed as Jin had; his left arm hanging over it, his body only covered by the thin blanket up to his hips. The shirt he wore had slipped up his waist and revealed the skin beneath.
Jin couldn’t really resist, it was obvious Kazuya had tried to get as close as he could, too, and that revealed his true feelings. He reached out his hand and gently stroked over Kazuya’s cheek, just ever so slightly to not wake him.
“Liar”, he murmured, affectionately though, as Kazuya nuzzled against Jin’s touch, licked his lips in his sleep. He tortured himself a bit more, ran his thumb over Kazuya’s bottom lip and left his hand exactly where it was for a little longer.
The way Kazuya was nuzzling his head into the pillow and sighed slightly drove Jin insane and he pressed his lips together to regain his self-control.
What wasn’t necessary, however, since in that moment the door was quietly opened and Jin pulled back his hand and quickly sat up, staring at Tegoshi, as the younger boy sneaked into the room.
“Good Morning”, he said cheerfully and Kazuya stirred in his sleep and sat up, too.
“Yuya”, he murmured and ran a hand over his face. “Seriously…”
“I know, I know”, Tegoshi said and gave him a sweet smile. “I didn’t mean to wake you up.”
Kazuya shook his head and sighed. “I already was awake, anyway.”
“You were?” Tegoshi looked at Jin, who had asked the same question as him. “However, I’m sorry for causing the two of you troubles.”
“Brat”, Jin just murmured and rolled out of bed.
“Well, actually”, Tegoshi started then and got over to his bag, “I was just wondering, if it was okay with you guys, if Akanishi and I switched rooms.”
Jin turned to him, staring. Three more night like this? Three more? That was impossible, he’d go insane, he’d be dead by the time it’d be over.
“Would it make any sense if we said we weren’t?”
Jin looked at Kazuya, who was still sitting relaxed on his bed. Oh God, he was right, it wouldn’t make a difference.
Tegoshi’s smirk confirmed Jin in his fear. “Well, Akanishi can stay in that room, if he’s okay with us being three people in one room.”
Jin sighed, his shoulders hanging and he took his shirt and three quarter pants, getting dressed, before he walked to the door, mumbling something along the lines of “I’ll get my things over.”
As the door closed behind him, Tegoshi spun around to Kazuya and gave him a shocked and unbelieving look. “How come you slept separated?”
Kazuya snorted. “Yuya…”
“No, seriously, I gave you the perfect opportunity, didn’t I?”
“I don’t want…”
“Ah, stop lying”, Tegoshi said sharply and stuffed a few things to his bag. He hadn’t unpacked much, anyways, what came in handy now. “You guys are so horny for each other, it’s pathetic to watch.”
Kazuya blushed furiously, staring at Tegoshi, completely speechless.
“I mean, yesterday, when you fell during the soccer match, you both were completely off afterwards and Akanishi never took his eyes off you for just a second. The way you kept watching all of his moves, when we were out drinking… Stop kidding me.”
Swallowing thickly, Kazuya fell back to the pillow, sighed. “I can’t just do that, Yuya.”
“Because of Mirai-chan?” Tegoshi came over and sat down at the edge of the bed, giving Kazuya a sympathetic look. “She doesn’t know it was you, does she? She won’t ever find out, what happened here, so…”
“That’s not it”, Kazuya interrupted and closed his eyes. “I don’t want it to be nothing but a nice make out session. I want the whole thing, Yuya. Everything.”
“But then, she’d find out.” Tegoshi nodded, fell silent. “Do you still have a crush on her?”
Kazuya immediately shook his head. “But she’s still special and she already cried enough.”
Tegoshi sighed. “That’s complicated.”
“I know. What am I supposed to do?”
“First of all, you should stop making Akanishi suffer so much. It seriously looked cute, the way he was looking at you, touching your face, when I came in.” Tegoshi ignored the look Kazuya threw him. Eavesdropping and secretly watching other people’s love life was something Tegoshi couldn’t stop himself from doing, anyways. “What if he wants the same, Kame? He broke up with Mirai-chan for a reason, didn’t he?”
Kazuya felt his stomach twisting at those words. The thought alone made him go so very nervous that he felt he should change the topic.
Getting up again, Kazuya pulled a t-shirt and a pair of trunks from the small wardrobe. “So, how did you make Yamashita give in?”
Tegoshi smiled at him, letting it slip. “Not telling.”
Kazuya threw him a look, lifted a brow. He was just about to say something, as the door opened again and Jin came back in. He had his back thrown over his shoulder and handed Tegoshi his key card.
“Pi is waiting for you”, he just said.
Tegoshi beamed and jumped off the bed, giving Jin a slight push. “See you guys later for breakfast.”
It fell silent, as Tegoshi was gone and they both didn’t move a single bit.
“Well…”, Kazuya started then, throwing Jin an uneasy look. “Do you want to use the bathroom first?”
Jin shook his head. “Just go ahead. I’ll unpack my things first.”
Kazuya nodded and took off his shirt, throwing it to his bed, but as he just wanted to grip the clothes he had taken out before, he heard Jin making a frustrated noise and turned back to him.
“You’re doing that on purpose, aren’t you?”
Kazuya blinked, then, he suddenly felt awkwardly uncovered and held the clothes in front of his chest. “You don’t have to look, you know.”
Jin laughed dryly. “As if I couldn’t. Just finally go to the bathroom or you’ll probably regret it.”
Kazuya stood for a little longer, staring at Jin.
“God, Kazuya”, Jin whined and took a deep breath, before Kazuya just turned and disappeared into the bathroom.
As soon as he was alone, Jin fell to the bed, face buried in the pillow. He suppressed a whine and fisted his hands, wanting to rip the fabric beneath him.
He had to pull himself together.
As he heard the shower, Jin tried to push the images from his head, tried not to think of what Kazuya looked like with the water running down his spine, his hair getting wet, sticking to his head and face, dust floating around him.
Oh God, he really was bad in banning any images from his head.
Jin rolled to his back and sighed, palming his face. He closed his eyes and took deep breaths, trying to calm down.
Kazuya most likely took a cold shower, anyways.
Getting calmer, Jin stayed like that, listening to the steady sound of running water, not really noticing as it stopped. He somewhat dozed off, sprawled out on the bed, still engulfed in Kazuya’s scent.
He only opened his eyes, when he noticed the mattress sinking under a weight, staring at Kazuya, as he sat down at the edge of the bed, looking at Jin.
Water was dripping from his hair and he just wore those trunks, a towel around his shoulders.
“Jin, relax”, Kazuya said softly.
“How am I supposed to”, Jin wanted to know and looked at Kazuya’s shoulders and chest. “You’re torturing me, you know.”
Kazuya shook his head; droplets sprinkled Jin’s face. “We’ll just be alone here during the nights. At day, we’re always out, aren’t we? With the other guys.”
“I’m not going to survive this.”
Kazuya laughed softly. “You’re too nervous. Stop thinking about it all the time and it’ll get easier.”
“Are you saying”, Jin said dryly, “while sitting there, wet and almost naked?”
Kazuya blushed slightly, but didn’t make any attempt to change that fact. “Keep your hands down, okay?”
“Eh?” Jin blinked at him, but he didn’t move.
“If you touch me, I’ll stop straight away”, Kazuya just warned him, before he gave in to his own wants and leaned in, subtly brushing his lips to Jin’s. The older one stared at his eyes, his own getting hazy and he sighed in content, before Kazuya added more pressure, moved his lips against Jin’s.
“Kazuya”, Jin murmured, but stopped himself, as he wanted to bring his hands up. He never closed his eyes for a single second, holding Kazuya’s look with his. He opened his lips, let Kazuya’s tongue slip inside and moaned slightly.
He never wanted this to stop.
Water was dripping from Kazuya’s hair to his cheeks and Jin felt as if they were burning up on his skin, his fingers digging into the sheets beneath him, while his tongue was twirling around Kazuya’s.
He made a sound of protest, as Kazuya pulled back, feeling weak and so damn dominated, something he actually hated, but he also knew he would take any shame, any embarrassment to get just a bit more of this.
Kazuya smiled slightly, pecked his lips, before he moved his chin up and placed a kiss to Jin’s forehead.
“Relax, okay?”
Jin just shook his head. “Do that again?”
Kazuya giggled slightly and pressed another kiss to Jin’s forehead.
“Kazuya”, Jin just whined and now, lifted his hands. But before he could get a hold of Kazuya, the younger one was gripping them and laced their fingers. “You’re not supposed to touch me.”
“Stop teasing me, Kazuya. You’re…”
“I know”, Kazuya just said and drew back. “I want you just as much, okay? I’m suffering, too. But let’s try to once forget about that attraction and see if there’s more to it.”
Jin blinked at him, his fingers still laced with Kazuya’s. The feeling was somewhat nice. “What… more?”
Kazuya smiled and withdrew his hands from Jin. “Let’s use today and find out if we’re attracted to each other on another base. On a base that’s not about sex.”
Jin gulped, only the mention of the word from Kazuya set off a burning sensation in him. It nearly drove him nuts. “You want me to lose my mind, don’t you?”
Kazuya got up from the bed and sighed, suddenly losing confidence. “I want you to once not only look at me as someone you only want naked beneath you.”
Jin sat up, blinked at Kazuya. “Do you really think it’s like that?”
“Well, everything you ever wanted from me was sex, wasn’t it?”
“You really think that?!”
Kazuya shrugged a shoulder and pulled his shirt over, before he turned to the door. “Let me know if I’m mistaken in believing that.”
Jin just watched him leave and with a frustrated moan, he fell to his back again, stared at the ceiling. It was true, he did want sex with Kazuya, and that wouldn’t change too soon, but that clearly wasn’t everything there was to it.
Closing his eyes again, Jin tried to stop himself from that thought, but he knew it was useless.
He hadn’t allowed himself to even just think of that before, but hearing Kazuya accusing him of just wanting to supply his needs with him, Jin knew he had to admit to it.
It was late, he knew that, he should have done that so much sooner and Kazuya really should know already.
Instead, Kazuya thought everything about them was just about sex.
How could he, Jin thought and sighed again. How could he, when Jin was so head over heels in love with him?
Again.
He sat up and shook his head, letting go of a weak laugh. It was pathetic to put it like that, Jin knew that himself.
It didn’t just happen again.
It was still.
When he came down to breakfast, everyone else was already there. Jin had taken a quick shower, had unpacked his things, taking probably a bit more time than necessary to get down from his confusion.
“Jin, you’re late”, Ryo said and frowned at him.
They had booked a western style hotel, so they were all sitting on chairs at a large table laid for six. At the corner of the room a buffet was placed.
Jin wished he’d have an appetite.
He sat down next to Koki and poured some of the coffee from the pot and had just burned his tongue, being impatient in gulping it down, as a glass of water was placed in front of him.
Kazuya had just come back from the buffet, taking the seat across from him.
“I thought you may need it.”
Jin took the glass and sipped, cooling his mouth. “Thanks.”
It was awkward, Jin thought; he didn’t know how to handle Kazuya now. What was the younger one expecting?
Getting up, he decided he’d better eat something, however, otherwise the others would notice he was completely off. From his seat, he observed Tegoshi and Yamashita for a while, finding nothing odd about them. They still behaved the way they had yesterday.
They weren’t exchanging loving looks, or squeezing each other’s hand, when no one was looking. They were just normally talking.
Jin glanced at Kazuya who was talking to Ryo, laughing slightly. Was that what Kazuya wanted?
Normality?
Probably, Jin should just stop thinking about every move he made concerning Kazuya and be himself again, treat Kazuya like he had done before.
Kazuya leaned back and patted his stomach, sighing happily. “I’m stuffed!”
“You didn’t even eat much”, Ryo commented.
“Can I have those strawberries?”
Kazuya looked at Jin and frowned. “You can get fresh ones from the buffet.”
“But it would be a waste to throw these away.” Jin just reached out his hand and picked one from Kazuya’s plate.
The younger one didn’t say more and just pushed the plate in Jin’s direction, gesturing for him to eat up.
As they were done with breakfast, they all went back to their rooms, getting their things together to go to the beach.
That was what they had decided to make this whole trip to be about.
Spending all day at the beach, having fun together, relaxing in the sun and playing in the water.
Jin tried to be as calm as possible, as they were alone again. They’d just pick up their things, no need to get nervous, he told himself and took a bag, putting a towel in, as well as his sunglasses and sun protection.
When he was done, he saw Kazuya sitting at the bed, staring at two books in front of him.
“You can’t decide”, Jin asked and came over.
Kazuya nodded. “You decide.”
Jin laughed and randomly picked one. “Then, you’re going to read this.”
“I don’t know if that’s the right choice…” Kazuya looked at the other book, tilting his head.
“Kazuya, don’t be so indecisive.” Jin laughed and took the book, placing it to the night stand. “Eventually, you’ll read both of them, however, it doesn’t matter which one you read first.”
Throwing him a look, Kazuya didn’t argue anymore and put the book Jin had chosen to his bag.
They left and met the others in front of the hotel, walking down to the beach. Yamashita already just wore his trunks and carried a volleyball, huge sunglasses covering his eyes.
It was kind of funny, Jin thought, how every girl they passed turned for him, giving him admiring looks.
Tegoshi didn’t seem to care, however, and that seriously confused Jin. If those girls were looking at Kazuya like that… He stopped himself from that thought and shook his head, making Koki ask if he was alright.
They reached the beach and Jin was asleep as soon as he lay on his towel, catching up on the sleep he had lacked during the night.
Laying flat on his stomach, he dozed away for a good two hours, until he noticed soft hands running over his back and sites, soothing his skin.
Jin’s eyes flew open, recognizing the way he was touched immediately and he lifted his head, staring at Kazuya. “What are you doing?!”
Kazuya shrugged a shoulder and reached out his hand, running a creamy finger over Jin’s cheek, leaving a white trace of sun cream. “There, you’re going to get sunburnt if you sleep without any protection.”
“Oh…”, Jin murmured and rubbed the cream in, giving Kazuya a shy look. “Thanks.”
“Everyone else went swimming. How about we join them?”
“Ah, well, I’ll probably sleep for a bit longer?”
Kazuya smiled at him and got up, holding out a hand for Jin. “Come on.”
“But I’m really not…”
“I know”, Kazuya said. “You already refused each time yesterday. I’ll stay with you, so you won’t drown, promise.”
Jin smiled weakly. “I’m not afraid.”
Tilting his head, Kazuya gestured to the water. “Prove it.”
Not really having a choice, Jin got up and followed Kazuya to the water. It felt refreshing as the cool fluid hit the skin of his feet. It wasn’t windy and thus, the water was very calm, just waving lightly.
Kazuya went ahead, always looking over his shoulder for Jin, making him follow.
Jin just thought how much he liked the view of Kazuya’s back, the slim waist, tender hips and the way his muscles were moving beneath the soft skin. He forgot that he had made it into the water up to his waist already and instead, admired how Kazuya had pulled his hair up in a tail; it looked cute.
That thought was erased however, when quite some amount of water hit him in the face and made him stumble in surprise, falling over. He ducked under water and panicked for just a second, then, hands pulled him up, bringing him back to a standing position.
Jin ran his hands over his face, brushed back his wet hair and just heard how Kazuya said in a strict voice: “Yuya!”
Tegoshi giggled. “It was too tempting, the way he was daydreaming.”
Kazuya just sighed, his hands still at Jin’s upper arms. “You’re okay?”
“I…” Jin cleared his throat. “I was just a bit surprised.”
Kazuya gave him a smile, rubbing his arms, before he let go. “Now, you’re all wet, anyways, so let’s swim for a bit?”
“Ah, well…”
Kazuya took his hand, not noticeable for anyone, covered by the water. “Come on.”
Jin just nodded and followed Kazuya further, let him lead Jin until the water reached their chests. Without a word, Kazuya let go then and dived in, making a few strokes through the water.
Jin took a deep breath. He wasn’t really sure where that fear came from; he never had made any scary experience, but yet, he was afraid of deep waters.
But this was okay, he told himself and started swimming, making slow strokes, being careful. It was okay, because Kazuya was there, as well.
“It’s nice, isn’t it”, Kazuya asked and turned to him.
Jin nodded. “It’s okay.”
Kazuya laughed. “Where does that fear come from? Did you almost drown as a kid or anything?”
“No, nothing. I’m just uneasy with deep waters.”
“But you can swim pretty well.”
“We didn’t have much of a choice during swimming classes, did we”, Jin just commented and turned to his back, paddling with his feet.
Kazuya stayed behind, watching him. “That’s true, indeed.” When Jin turned back to him, Kazuya could see how realisation hit him and he almost felt sorry for not warning Jin beforehand, even though Kazuya had known very well.
Jin ducked under again and came up, gasping for air, making a few long strokes to get back to where Kazuya was.
His breath was going quickly and Kazuya couldn’t really resist pulling him in. “It’s alright. See, you can stand here.”
Jin leaned against Kazuya, burying his face at his neck. “Crap.”
Kazuya laughed slightly. “Coward.”
“I am then. But that’s really scary.”
Kazuya patted his back, ran his hands up to brush the wet strands from Jin’s face. “I guess that’s enough for today then. Let’s go back.”
Jin just nodded, but he held on to Kazuya for a bit longer, though.
The younger one let him; then, he drew away and pulled Jin with him, getting out of the water.
He didn’t let go of Jin’s hand, until they reached shallow water again.
Jin actually fell asleep pretty easily that night.
Almost drowning - that was what it felt to him afterwards - for two times a day had been pretty much. Then, they had held a small volleyball tournament and he had actually won with Tegoshi as his partner.
It had been a lot of fun, but being still tired from not getting any sleep the night before and then, spending an exhausting day like that had made him fall asleep in an instant.
When he heard a rustling sound, he stirred in his sleep, felling like he hadn’t have much of it yet. He turned just in time to see the door closing, his look falling to the bed next to him, finding it empty.
For a moment, he hesitated, but then, he got up and pulled over some clothes, following Kazuya out.
Jin walked out of the hotel and to the beach, expecting Kazuya to make some kind of night walk there. He couldn’t be seen anywhere and Jin frowned, wondering where exactly the younger one had went off to.
He waited for a bit, eventually, if Kazuya was somewhere here, he had to pass this point to get back to the hotel.
But Kazuya didn’t show up, so Jin decided to just go back and wait in their room.
They had done pretty well during this day.
They had touched, indeed, but there had been not a single sexual intention behind it. Kazuya had creamed his back, Jin had held onto him in the water, they had held hands.
It was innocent, Jin thought; the way they had been with each other today.
And it felt so much better; made Jin a lot calmer, because he could feel through the way Kazuya had looked at him, had touched him, that he cared.
He really cared for Jin in a way no one else cared for him.
When he reached the hotel again, Jin decided to probably stay outside for a little longer, walk through the small garden behind the building.
Somehow he wasn’t really surprised, as he found Kazuya exactly there, sitting in the grass, pulling some blades.
Jin wasn’t sure if he should approach Kazuya or now, if he should call out for him or should just go over and sit beside him.
The decision was made for him, however, when Kazuya simply turned and looked at him.
“What are you doing out here?”
Kazuya shrugged a shoulder and got to his feet. “I couldn’t sleep.”
“What’s wrong?” Jin came closer, lifting a brow, as Kazuya took a step back.
“I’m just… restless.”
“Because?”
“You know the reason pretty well.”
Jin laughed slightly. “Didn’t you like today’s outcome.”
Kazuya looked down at his feet. “You trust me”, was all he said.
Hearing that, Jin was a bit surprised. It was true, he did; he hadn’t really realised that before, either. “How come you’ve got that impression?”
“You went that far into the water today, even though you were that afraid”, Kazuya murmured and shrugged a shoulder. “I don’t think you would have done that, if it had been for anyone else.”
Jin nodded. “That’s right, I guess.”
“It’s just…” Kazuya sighed and looked up at Jin, making a helpless gesture. “You’ve accepted this so easily. You hold back, when I ask you to, even though I can see how much it coasts you. And yet you do. You broke up with Mirai and I really wish you would not have, but then again, I’m happy you did, but it’s impossible to take any advantage of that, because she would end up hurting again. So, I told myself I wouldn’t let you close again, on no possible base. I told myself that I won’t just be your second again, that if anything, I’d only be the one for you and now look, what I’ve got. You’re here, and you’ve been looking at me like that all day and I can’t stop myself from---“ He shrieked a bit, when Jin took his shoulders and made him go silent with a single look.
Kazuya anticipated a kiss, but instead, Jin turned him around at his shoulders and Kazuya blinked his eyes in confusion.
“Jin, what…?” He fell silent again, staring at the shooting star falling in front of his eyes. He gasped, as another one made his way through, fading over the horizon. One after another fell and Kazuya could only stare in disbelieve, until he noticed arms coming around his shoulders, pulling his back against Jin’s chest.
“Let’s stay like this for a bit longer”, Jin murmured at his ear, low and quiet. “Just like this, okay?”
Kazuya took a trembling breath and laughed weakly, his hands coming up to grip Jin’s arms, before he turned in his embrace.
“This is not what I imagined it to be like.”
Jin gave him a questioning look, gently tugging a few brunette strands behind Kazuya’s ear. “Hm?”
“This. I didn’t think those wishes would come true right after you make them”, Kazuya told him.
Jin smiled softly, before he leaned in and kissed Kazuya’s forehead, pulled him into his arms and held him close.
Kazuya sighed in content, nuzzling against Jin and burying his face at his neck.
This wasn’t attraction, he thought and closed his eyes.
They didn’t need to kiss right now or voice out what it was they felt. They didn’t need to make sure the other understood what it was between them with words or gestures.
What he had seen in Jin’s eyes, in the way, he had looked at Kazuya, before he had embraced him; that was enough to Kazuya.
Because that was what he had longed for all this while, had hoped to see in Jin’s face for so long.
That pure and honest affection for Kazuya.
