What's the best way to clean the layers of dusty greasy sticky disgusting stuff that accumulates on pieces around your kitchen, especially around the stove? I need to deep clean my kitchen but that crap is on the window blinds, on jar lids, on my oven hood, etc.

varnished floor + magic eraser = haha whoops :(

I scrubbed a dried-on cat barf off the varnished floor with a magic eraser and now I have a big un-shiny patch in the middle of the floor. Short of revarnishing (not going to happen) or buying a rug, is there a fix for this?

Addendum: the floor is already peeling/flaking off in plasticky feeling pieces, so I'm guessing it's a polyurethane finish? ( Read more... )

Is there any brick-and-mortar options to find a good teacup storage box? I have found a lot made in canvas but I am looking for wood if possible. It's actually for some tiny Chinese-style pots so teabag storage boxes might work size-wise but I would need to see them in person so online stores don't work.

Carpet Binding

Just has my place recarpeted and a chunk of carpet was left over. We are moving and I was thinking of having the piece bound off instead of spending even more $$ on an area rug.
