First Holloween party tonight. Cranach was not finished, of course. This week has just killed me at work. Quarter ended today, so I also have a ton of work this weekend as well, but I'm certainly not going to miss out on playing dress up in order to grade inane homework ( Read more... ) -

Thanks for the feedback on the blackwork pattern everyone. I finally had a chance to work on it today, getting the embroidery on the neck and sleeve binding finished. It was slow going, especially since the pattern that got the most votes is fairly intricate, which means it's super slow to stitch. That's okay. It looks great. I can't wait to ( Read more... ) -
Woohoo! More sewing!
The first thing I did after breakfast was sit down at my sewing machine to work on the chemise. I got all the main seams done and started attaching the sleeves to the body before running out of steam. I also played around with embroidery designs for the neck binding. I'm trying to approximate blackwork, but I'm not sure which of these, if any, ( Read more... ) -

My dad and brothers came over today to start working on our workshop. Today was just demo--talking out the rough-hewn shelves, a workbench, and a semi-built-in cabinet (which they miraculously managed to keep intact so that we can put it back in the room once it's finished). Last night was filled with so much fabulousness it was overwhelming. Everyone looked fabulous. The music was fabulous. The setting was fabulous. Our table looked fabulous. The food was fabulous. The cake was several steps up from fabulous. And the company simply could not be beat ( Read more... ) -

Stress level alert
So, no faire for me this weekend, and it has nothing to do with not finishing my Cranach gown. In fact, the infuriatingly mostly finished, beautiful gown is sitting at the edge of the sofa, taunting me as we speak. I'd even started on the gold, wired ribbon caul, which is currently all pinned to a styrofoam head on my coffee table. ARGH ( Read more... ) -

My plans certainly were overambitious. The gown is pretty much done except for the brustfleck, which I could get finished if I really kick myself in the butt tonight.
