It's been an entire year since we went into lockdown here (at least a week too late). This morning I looked at the post I made the day after the announcement and I sounded quite calm. It is a very dull, grey day here today but yesterday was gloriously sunny. We managed to vary our walking route a bit and find a new (very muddy) path, which is part of the Vanguard Way. Not much new going on at the moment! I spoke to my cousin P on the phone this morning which was lovely. It's his birthday today and we'd sent a card which he really liked so he rang to say thank you. It's a rather doleful anniversary today as 12th March 2020 was the last time we went out to an event in a venue with a large group of people and had a meal out beforehand. We had a delicious meal in an Italian restaurant that was new to us and then went to see Matthew Bourne's The Red Shoes in Wimbledon. At least it was a really lovely evening ( Read more... )

J got his first vaccination this afternoon and, while I know it doesn't kick in yet, that is a big relief. Most of my friends have had their first one now too, my brother had his last week and my sister-in-law is getting hers this week. Considering we originally thought we wouldn't get them until end of April/beginning of May it's a big surprise. ( Read more... )

I can't quite believe it's March though there are definite signs of spring everywhere and even blossom coming on some sheltered trees. Unfortunately it's raining at the moment so I won't be able to go for my regular afternoon walk unless it eases off a bit. My brother sent me a text message on Wednesday saying had I realised I was now in an eligible category to book my covid vaccination because the age range had moved down a year.
