So, I've got this dictionary project, and when my boss asks if I'd like to proofread a document for $350 and delay delivery on the dictionary by a few days, I say, "Sure!" She says that it is a rush job, but then waits three days to send me the document, which moves the timeline right across Thanksgiving. Then I learn how to use sticky notes in ( Read more... ) -

When we were on the ship, one of my teachers was Michael Williams, managing director of the Cape Town Opera. When we got to Cape Town, we were able to go visit his theater for an evening, where we saw the musical "Fiddler on the Roof" since there were no operas being performed. Yesterday was my mom's last day at residential rehab where she spent two months recovering from an emergency life saving surgery. At first, I'd go every day just to ground her in reality, but as time went on, she was up and about, ready to enjoy meals again. She sat regularly at the same table with a woman named Virginia, who was in her nineties. ( Read more... ) -

We bought over 250 pieces of candy, and we were out within the hour. That was OK, though. By the end of the hour, most of the little kids have visited. As time goes on, the Trick or Treaters get taller and older. Tucked in the middle of the country as we are, we are only getting the secondary issues from the storm. We've had gale force winds and lots of rain, but no power outages that I know of. The sky is low and grey, the rain is icy cold, and the wind cuts to the bone. In the midst of all this, there is a November rose in my garden. Its a dusky rose ( Read more... ) -
