That phrase has been circulating in my head ever since it first visited me in the bath a couple of days ago. I love the way one can't enunciate it without submitting to its internal rhythm.

Inexpertly cultivating facial hair again. Not sure what this signifies.

Where did half the decade go?

As bad as I look, I feel a thousand times worse.

That was the heaviest hailstorm I've ever seen. The back garden looks as though it's packed in styrofoam, awaiting transport somewhere.

The other night, apropos of nothing at all, I realised that, of the four most awe-inspiring sights it has been my good fortune to behold:

- One was located within the confines of a frame at the National Gallery

- One was experienced via a computer screen*
