Welcome to Luministi!

Today is just another regular day in your life until suddenly...it no longer is. One moment, you're in your world, but when you open your eyes next, you're in a different place entirely and seeing spots as though you were blinded with a bright light. Unfortunately, you have no recollection of how you arrived there. The only clue is the vague memory of a man--tall, in a dark coat, with a black hat pulled down low over his face. Something was in his hands, but for the life of you, you can't recall what it might have been.
Before you can even get your bearings, an image appears on the wall nearest you in a giant vidscreen. The black and white image of a man smiles jovially at you and smooths the lapels of his expensive suit before he speaks.
"Hello and good morning! It gives me great pleasure to be able to greet you and welcome you to the Town of Luministi. My name is Constantine Caligin, Mayor of Luministi. I am sorry I am unable to greet you in person, but there is always something to be done here in town hall! Surely you understand.
While I have a minute though, let me give you the highlights of our great and beautiful town.
Here in Luministi, we strive to maintain the integrity of our quiet small town life while slowly bringing in new blood and new technologies. One look at our fine, eclectic town square and you will see how well we are progressing! There are many new and exciting places in town for you to explore, like our fabulous restaurants, recently renovated cinema, and our famous library. We welcome any feedback about them, from convenience to pure aestheticism. Our latest additions are identical housing developments situated in the west and east of Luministi's town borders and we hope you enjoy the accommodations! They have been built with the ideas of comfort and ease in mind.
Unfortunately, that is all the time I have for today. Please know that any questions or concerns may be left with my office. After all, the happiness of my citizens is my top priority!

Sure enough, you'll see that you're in a modest, neat home with fine furnishings, and upon entering the living room, you'll see a brand new bike waiting for you, as well as a
large gift basket left on the coffee table that's filled with treats like fruits, hot chocolate packets, tea bags, a bright yellow and violet mug and T-shirt with "Luministi Lions" printed on them, and an assortment of coupons for use in town. Nestled amongst all these is a
letter from the Mayor with exactly the same message on it as the speech he just gave on the vidscreen. Below that is a small handheld device that you'll find to be a constant companion during your stay in Luministi.
It may be the only thing to remain constant.
For what lies at the heart of Luministi is the truth of how you arrived there--and how you can get home. Because you'll quickly discover that any road proclaiming to lead past the Luministi town limits merely brings you from one end of town to another. Luministi is a town with no apparent exit, even though some of the residents assure you that there is.
And soon, very soon, things in this idyllic little town will cease to be so picturesque and calm. It's up to you to discover the way out before it's too late...

Luministi is a panfandom sci-fi seasonal roleplay that will take place over a four-month period. For the second season, the game will be open from May 12th through about September 22-October 6th. (Actual time may vary since this is the last season. It may take longer to resolve everything.) It is based around the mystery of the town and will involve a variety of situations for characters to overcome, events to work through, and puzzles to solve. A community-based game, Luministi runs in a pseudo-real-time (where a Monday is a Monday, but that Monday isn't May 16th, 2011, for example) and its events and outcome will be, in part, determined by the actions taken by the characters in it.
Throughout the run of Luministi, characters are trapped in the town and will be subjected to the whims of the many events that occur there. When those four months end, the ultimate outcome for the residents is up to you. Only you, together with the other residents, can find a way out of Luministi and back home.
