I had my thyroid completely removed Friday afternoon. I'm back home now. I've got tape over my incision site, my whole neck is sore, but I did eat some ice cream. 

J is taking things really badly, my upcoming surgery. He's been drinking too much and is just freaking out. I guess I sort of understand, but it's not making anything any easier, I could use some strength. Instead I feel like I'm having to be strong for everyone ( Read more... )

I came across this blog post from my friend feed on facebook. It hits on stuff that I connect with regarding hating to be photographed - specifically feeling too fat to take a good picture. But really it has applied to me even when I wasn't heavy. My friends would say I'm not all that heavy now.

In the last while we went from suspecting I might have issues with my thyroid beyond my hashis, to doing a bunch of tests. bloodwork, ultrasound, cat scans and eventually a needle biopsy - the biopsy came back with a definite batch of cancer cells. we've discovered I have early papillary thyroid carcinoma, found a small mass on the thyroid and are probably going to remove some if not all of the gland. We're feeling super cautious about mentioning the C word at all around the house because of what the boys have gone thru. good news is early detection because we've been taking care of my Hashi' ( Read more... )

the twins are showing less interest in nursing. Scarlet was first and the last few days more and more Maddy has been seeking other food. I mean they're both still nursing but basically the several days I was really sick it was mostly frozen back-log supply. I've pumped plenty and I guess there's always the risk they'll find a bottle more convenient ( Read more... )

pretty much. fever, sweats, cough, miserable. Coming out of it now and no-one else seems to have caught it.

I stepped on the scale today and found out I'm down to 192. It's hard for me to admit that's good news, but it is - and I realize if I'm going to get anywhere I have to stop being hard on myself and admit when I've made progress, even when it feels inadequate ( Read more... )
