BEMF is more real now
I have a Festival Pass and tickets to three concerts in my hot little hands. I am going to Symphonie des Dragons, Newberry Consort, and Hesperion XXI if nothing goes wrong. I have fringe concerts on my plan, but those tickets are at the door so not quite as real. -
first ride of 2013
I walked the bike to a gas station with a good air hose (so not the closest one) for the spring "filling the tires" rite. My chosen route was about a mile and a half with good hills. Then I rode a different, flatter but longer route home for an approximately 3.4 mile ride. A handful of cashews and mug of Gatorade later, I'm almost human again. -
RIP, Brownie Pig
Mr. Brownie took a serious turn for the worse this morning. He was already on hospice. We took him up to his vet's office and helped him leave late this afternoon. More anon. -
What is up with you, Mr. Brownie?
Brownie added blood spots to his other symptoms, so back to the vet Wednesday. We scheduled a catheterization and blood draw for Thursday, which meant sedation, which is always a bit nerve-wracking. Cuddles appears to be himself, so it must be Brownie's turn to scare me
Cuddles is eating and drinking on his own. We're tapering his handfeeding with Critical Care rather than cut it off abruptly, and that seems to be going alright. He looks very much like himself ( Read more... ) -
Cuddles is eating well
At the beginning of this year, Cuddles weighed about 1200g. By the middle of January, he had dropped to about 1150g and developed another bladder stone. A week after his surgery, his weight had dropped to 1012g and we were working hard to get enough food into him ( Read more... ) -

I might forget and leave a belt knife on, but I'm not a fighter so no sword problems, right? Adoption Day
It's adoption day here. Da Boyz joined us in 2009 and were thought to be about a year old at that time, so they are now SCAMPS (Senior Citizen Ageing Miracle Pig Society) members. LL Bean has disappointed me again
I don't know sometimes why I still look at their stuff. Maybe because once every couple of years I find something that works for me. Today's LL Bean disappointment: slippers.
