Chapter 5
Jungsu sneaked into the balcony sheet of gymnasium as carefully as possible not to gather any unnecessary attentions from other audiences. Because it was the great sunny Sunday and because it was the biggest high-school Judo tournament around this area, the gymnasium was filled with many people cheering for the players. Jungsu found a seat nearby the wall and sat there. Some students from his class spotted him and waved at him cheerfully. Jungsu smiled nervously and waved back at them.
It was perfectly natural Jungsu being in this place, because he was a teacher of this school and some students from his class were participating in this tournament. He had all rights and reasons to be here, he said to himself. At heart, however, he knew he had come all the way here not for random students but for only one person, and the fact made him slightly guilty.
He looked down the field and found his school’s Judo team gathering up for warming-up. Even among the torrent of people, Jungsu could soon find Youngwoon. The young man was bending and stretching, keen concentration on his eyes. Jungsu’s heart was skipped by the strong aura surrounding the young man. He looked like a different person from a naughty boy acting funny in front him usually.
Abruptly Youngwoon stood up and looked around the audience seat. As spotting Jungsu looking at him from the corner of balcony seat, Youngwoon smirked and winked at the elder. Jungsu jumped up in the seat and shrank his body as small as he could. He was already starting to regret he had come here.
The matches were real fun, though. It was first time for Jungsu to watch Judo games, and he didn’t expect high-school Judo matches worth watching this much. They were dynamic and energetic, and the young players looked all sparkling. And of course Youngwoon was one of them.
Biased or not, Youngwoon looked special for Jungsu’s eyes. He was overwhelming the games. Jungsu was holding his breath during Youngwoon’s match first, but soon he realized that the young man was practically a king already. Jungsu knew how hard Youngwoon had been working out for this day, and he was proud of the younger man.
Defeating the opponent completely for the third time in this day, Youngwoon got up from the field mat and looked up at Jungsu in his seat. Jungsu answered with a bright smile and big applause. Youngwoon smiled proudly.
After twenty minutes of break, Youngwoon appeared on the field mat again for the semifinal match. The opponent looked a piece of cake for him, and Youngwoon was already thinking about how to defeat the strongest rival he would face at the final match. He was confident nobody could stop him, the great Kim Youngwoon today, so that he couldn’t take the situation when the desperate one swing of said ‘piece of cake’ caught his unbalanced foot by sheer chance and the next moment he was thrown into the air. Even when his back met with the mat with a big sound of bang, he didn’t understand what had just happened. When the big buzz of surprise occurred among the audience and reached to his ear, he finally realized. He had lost.
Jungsu covered his mouth by shock. He, and maybe everybody in this hall was not expecting to see Kim Youngwoon defeated and lay spread on the floor. Before Jungsu’s shocked eyes, Youngwoon got up from the mat and walk to the prescribed position to bow and end the game. Jungsu couldn’t see the expression on the young man’s face because he was showing his back to him, but he could see the board back was slightly trembling and his fists were gripped tightly. Jungsu’s heart ached by seeing that.
Youngwoon bowed abruptly and walked off of the field, never looking up from the ground. Some of his teammates tried to comfort him, but he brushed off the hands on his shoulders roughly and stormed out of the gymnasium without a word. Jungsu didn’t know what to do, but he couldn’t just sit there. He wanted to do something for that defeated young man. So he stood up from the seat and hurriedly pushed his way in through the crowd without giving any concerns for some curious gazes from the people around him for his sudden action. Only thing he cared now was Youngwoon.
On the way to the club room to see Youngwoon, Jungsu ran into some students from Judo club, and they warned him to stay away from Youngwoon for now because he was now furious like a wild storm. Thanking them for the advice, Jungsu still didn’t hesitate to go down the steps leading to the club room in the basement.
Jungsu held his breath and knocked the door to the room.
“Whoever you are, GET THE HELL AWAY!!”
The roar was the answer from the other side of the door, but still Jungsu opened the door without hesitation.
“Ya! Didn’t you hea-“
Youngwoon looked back at the door bawling, then he froze.
“You.”
He looked away from Jungsu and opened his locker violently.
“You had better keep away from me, because I don’t think I can be a gentleman today.”
Youngwoon tore off the upper wear of Judo uniform and slammed it on the floor. From the rage or not, the steam was rising from the naked skin of his body as if a warning to keep out everything from him.
“I shouldn’t have asked you to come today. I’m a suck.”
Youngwoon laughed at himself bitterly. He had never felt this miserable before. He was mad at himself, and the great rage was already mounting to the point he couldn’t control himself.
“No, you were great”, Jungsu said from his heart.
“Huh! Don’t sweet-talk me!”
Youngwoon slammed his fist against the locker and shut his eyes tightly. He wanted to, needed to win the match today before Jungsu’s eyes, because he wanted to show the elder his strength and sweep away his concerns about their relationship. He knew it was such a childish way to prove his strength in the practical power, but what he could do best as a mere high-school student was this. He wanted to prove that he could protect Jungsu and lessen the pain the elder showed in his eyes.
Jungsu silently watched the younger’s back trembling with anger. It was a surprise for him, but looking at Youngwoon right now like this; being so down and devastated, Jungsu was now feeling the strongest affection for the younger man ever.
“I mean it.”
Jungsu said in a calm voice, but didn’t get an answer. The back of the younger man was still showing a strong rejection. Jungsu walked to the younger, hugged him from behind and repeated the same word, more certainly this time.
“I meant it, Youngwoon.”
Youngwoon flinched by the sudden warmth on his back. As the elder pressing his body against his, Youngwoon felt their heats mixing together. Instinctively, Youngwoon held Jungsu’s hands folded on his stomach.
It was a simple crush at first, or maybe just a curiosity, but it had changed into something more certain and significant inside of him as he shared time with Jungsu. Now he knew how Jungsu smiled when he put small jokes. He knew what kind of books or music Jungsu liked. He knew how Jungsu tasted during kisses. He knew how the slight sadness flashed through Jungsu’s eyes sometimes when he was looking out the window vacantly. He knew his tears and laughter.
When he felt Jungsu’s hand holding back his, Youngwoon turned around and pushed Jungsu’s body against the wall, kissing desperately. His emotion was pouring out of his lips, hands and body, and he couldn’t restrain himself any more.
Being pressed against the cold wall, Jungsu grabbed Youngwoon’s head and pulled up the younger’s body against his. Their teeth crushed hard and he could taste blood in his mouth, unsure to which it belonged. Youngwoon’s body was so hot against his, and the heat took sanity away from his mind. Somewhere in his mind, Jungsu knew it was wrong. He should not have let the younger tear off his shirt and kiss down his chest. He should not have gasped in pleasure by the younger’s hands grabbing his buts strongly. He was a teacher, and it was his student in his arms right now. It was wrong socially, morally or in any possible ways. But he didn’t give a damn to it any more. He wanted to return for the passion the younger showed to him. He wanted the younger to know he cared for him. So even when the younger pressed his growing bulge against his body, Jungsu didn’t feel like to run away.
As biting down the lower lip of the elder, Youngwoon opened his eyes and peeked at Jungsu’s expression. His face was a little pale but the cheeks were colored in slight pink, and he looked as desperate as Youngwoon himself. His eyes were shut as usual, but the hands clinging onto his shoulder and the tongue dancing with his encouraged Youngwoon. He could feel that he was wanted. When he found a small pool of tear in the corner of Jungsu’s eyes, he was overwhelmed with emotion. He hugged the elder’s body tightly and whispered into his ear.
“I love you.”
Jungsu froze instantly hearing that. All blood drained from his body. Not noticing the reaction from the other one, Youngwoon kissed down on the neckline of the elder and repeated in perfect content.
“Jungsu, I love you.”
Next moment, Jungsu pushed away the younger’s body forcefully. Attacked by the unexpected strength, Youngwoon stepped back and fell on his hips. Confused by the sudden action of the other one, Youngwoon looked up at Jungsu, and found that the elder was white like the dead, his body shaking unsteadily.
“Jungsu, what’s…?”
Youngwoon got up and tried to touch Jungsu, but the elder brushed off the hand immediately. Jungsu walked past the younger without a word, trying desperately to hide his half-naked body with a wrinkled fabric of his shirt barely clinging on his shoulders. Youngwoon caught the elder by his arm.
“Jungsu, wh-“
“Let me go!”
Jungsu shrieked out, and the sharpness in the voice made Youngwoon taken aback. He just didn’t take the situation at all.
Jungsu looked away from the younger and withdrew his arm from the grip of the other one. He stepped back and murmured in a small voice.
“It’s… I… I’m a teacher and you’re a student. We shouldn’t do this.”
“Are you bringing it now!?”
Youngwoon yelled in irritation. He couldn’t accept this. He was in the peak of happiness a moment ago. He though Jungsu had finally opened up to him. He thought he could finally get him in his hands. And now Jungsu was running away from him again with a poor excuse of the immorality of teacher-student relationship!?
“Jungsu, I can’t take this. We should talk-“
But before Youngwoon’s hand reached to, Jungsu hurriedly ran out of the room without looking back. The heat was gone from Youngwoon’s body without notice, and now his body was as cold as stone.
“Why!? Why… DAMN IT!!!”
Youngwoon kicked the small chair nearby, and it flew to the wall, smashing hard. He held his head and bent down on the ground. He was not angry any more. He was just hurt.
… to be continued.
