After a long time of nothing happening, Sayu wondered if she should just go to the room like she said. All the steam she had was dissipating and she felt so inescapably vulnerable. The room was silent except for the occasional crinkle noise coming from Jonghyun’s blood packet.
They kept a supply in the fridge for nights like these, when they had to lay low or recover from something and there wasn’t a human around they could eat. Jonghyun could have her blood, if he really wanted, Sayu wouldn’t be able to stop him. But he didn’t. She actually considered offering from the guilt she felt, but she decided she would leave that subject alone for as long as possible. Her feelings for him didn’t change her feelings about blood drinking.
Though, this sparked another question, why hadn’t he? Sayu bit her lip. She didn’t want to leave him alone and honestly wanted to be in the room with him at least. She sighed and walked closer to the couch. Then she stepped around the side and finally stood in front of the chair adjacent. Sayu hesitated a moment, seeing him laying there with blood on his shirt, blood packet to his mouth, the arm she knew was hurt lying across his stomach.
He stared at her like she usually did, his piercing dark eyes looking lazy, then looking to the ceiling. She sat down, finally, and looked at the floor. She didn’t look as anxious as she felt, he could tell. He had been thinking of what to do now, should he ask first? Would she lie? Does she even know anything? Of course she knows, she’s Sayu with her contacts. Fuck, she probably went and asked Jessica directly what was going on. Stupid.
Jonghyun looked over to her again. She was all nerves and stiff, sitting in the chair with her feet together on the floor and her hands resting in her lap. Like she was posing for a photo, staring down at a point on the floor like that was where the camera was. He could tell her what he knew, but that would lead to conclusions he didn’t want her to know. If she knew already he doubted she would be as quiet as she was. Actually, why wasn’t she saying anything?
A long time passed while they considered what to do in their own heads, Onew and Minho returned, mysteriously without cat food. They paused at the door for a second then continued inside. Sayu looked over to them and then at Jonghyun. He didn’t move at all or acknowledge them, so she looked back at the floor. She was so unsure of what to do she just waited, he didn’t want to talk so he stayed silent. The other two vampires decided to call it a night since the sun would be up soon and went to their respective rooms.
And Jonghyun and Sayu were alone together in silence for a while longer.
