Deep thoughts (sort of)
I was watching a program recently that mentioned "poisoning the well". Now, I know of this concept from a military standpoint, but never really connected it to a social one. Novice/Challenge- SQUEE!!
OK, I am SOO a sucker for the concept of a Ladies Gallery at a tournament. Last time we had one, it so rocked. The ladies were able to stop the fighting to recognize a fighter, the fighters had to present themselves to the Gallery, not just walk in and plunk themselves down in all their odoriferous glory. Like giving crack to an addict...
I got to ride this weekend!!! I signed up for a trail ride and expected just a lazy, eat popcorn & chill in that armchair they call a western saddle snooze fest. Man, was I pleasantly surprised (and delighted). We had some serious hills (the kind you're laying on your horse for), some decent movement and best of all...some jumps!!! SQUEEE!!! Hostage Situation on the US Cargo Ship
The news of this hijacking got me thinking back to my time in the Navy. At first, I thought a US Naval ship was being held hostage and was wondering how pirates even got close enough to take control of the ship. Some responses on my last post (thanks for the perspective folks!) have gotten me thinking...in our quest for authenticity in the SCA, are we throwing the baby out with the bathwater? Just a quick little update...
First off...let me say that I <3 Storvik, it's leadership and the event staff for Novice. Dun Carraig wound up conflicting with them (we were told Novice was last weekend in June and spike the one before that...only to find out THAT was the one they needed).
