I've pretty much dedicated myself to working, eating, sleeping, and sewing for the next 6 weeks. To that end, in the past week I've- finished the hem on my green wool Skjoldehamn gown, (to find that I apparently built it to measurements of 20 pounds ago; thank gawd that gores were standard practice and I have sufficient scrap)

So, there's that Viking thing....
It's Simon's fault. He's been involved with Fjellborg for some time now, and being that he is.... well, let's just say that I seldom reject opportunities for interesting research challenges.

It's a gown.... almost
The 6 yards of purple or burgundy (depends on the light) wool coating that has been languishing in my living room is now cut down to gown pieces.

Despite the fatigue left over from Winter Oasis (including the 3 days of frenzied prep), and an oncoming upper respiratory infection of some sort, I was unable to languish in bed Sunday morning. My brain was overloaded with the tangle of pre-Estrella organization.

Yes, that time of the year is here.... Winter Oasis is upon us. It's (almost) the one time of the year when I divert from my dogged determination to remain faithful to my Gothic wardrobe, materiel, and accoutrement.

The rain was lovely
After two days of rain, I now have very happy gardens. Especially the weeds. Being a person who loathes weeding, I have a couple of very cool implements for such. They'll get put to good use this evening when it dries out a bit ( Read more... )
