There is the period garden. Yes, there a passion for the gardening part, and passion for the period part. There is also creating a little space/place/realm for me to play, in the SCA sense. And I'd like to play with others, because my back yard is, well, quiet.

More plants
I just posted the following cut on my period herb garden web page, which is now updated and ready.
I know I promised it days ago. It's hard to build web pages when you're head-down in the garden all the time.
I've now got about 18 feet or 60% of the area of the bed dug. In the past few days, I've added sempervivum, hyssop, winter savory, spearmint ( Read more... ) -
Herb garden update
17' linear feet, 62 square feet, 59% of the bed period herb bed is dug. The spearmint has a home, and there's plenty of room left for anything that needs to come home from the greenhouse this week.

Garden Redux
My little kitchen herb garden is morphing into a redux of the garden of period useful plants that I had at Peakview. Last night's digging produced room for the second lavender plant, and the southernwood given to me by Arwen. Arwen Southernwood. :-)
But not enough room for the spearmint. Yet.

What's not period??
I mentioned last week (I think) that I hadn't really given much thought to a garden of period plants at Corbinham. And then today, I was out watering the perennial bed in the front yard. I began to take inventory.
Irises (tall-bearded, which counts I. germanica in it's heritage)

I got an e-mail forwarded by arwensouth the other day. It was from Count Gunthar, the moderator/owner of the SCA Cooks list. Gunther distinguishes himself in my mind as the King who would not eat a non-period feast. He's gotten into open-fire cooking, and was posting questions about it to the SCA Cooks list. A&S reporting
We had a business meeting at our house last week. Our very organized A&S minister, Tangwystl, was asking for what A&S projects we were working on. Since I've got nothing new to report (indeed haven't applied needle to linen or wool for over a month), I quipped "I'm working on belly dance costumes".
