First day of Ropecon is behind. I arrived to the area yesterday straight from work a bit after 7 pm and when I got off the bus, someone shouted my name. It was Jii with a bicycle. I walked with him to the Dipoli building and we got our tickets. Pekka was standing just inside the front doors and we went to talk to him. People started gathering up.

Life is so hard. Today is just not going very well. First of all, I noticed my TV is broken at the beginning of this week. I had just gotten it from my little brother and it's a few years old. It's probably all my fault that it broke too. Can't tell you details because I'm too ashamed. Anyway, a repairman came to check it this morning before I went

Ankkarock ("Duck rock") festival really rocked. The weather was beautiful and the sun shone and I finally got a bit tanned. I took a dragon henna tattoo to my right ankle with the other girls, but it's starting to fade already.
On our third day in Japan (July 12th) we went to visit Akihabara, "best-known as one of the largest shopping areas on Earth for electronic, computer, anime, and otaku goods". We wandered around a bit and looked at stores.
I thought I could make a brief post about life in general, for once. Returning to work after the holiday was strange, but I got used to this again pretty quickly. It's helped a lot that it's very quiet in here. I have the evening shift this week and almost no calls come during the last 2-3 hours, so I've been reading the Harry Potter book at work.

Takadanobaba, the area where our ryokan was, is just one train stop away from Shinjuku and I think we spent more time there than in any other place. Shinjuku is an area for shopping and entertainment. Again, click on the photos to see bigger versions of them.
I noticed I wrote pretty much all we did on our first day in Tokyo already in an earlier entry so there's no need to repeat it. I'm just going to post random photos related to our first day. The photos are kinda small, but you can view a bit bigger ones if you click the image.
I am back home! Have been for the last 13 hours or so and slept for 10,5 of them. You know what was the greatest thing about returning, besides the feeling of being back in Finland? When I opened the door to my apartment, besides all the ads and a couple of cards and a couple of bills that were lying on the floor, there was also the new Harry

We have Internet access at the ryokan we're staying at in Tokyo which is very nice. There is a wireless connection here and eath_in_dublin brought her laptop with her, so all's well. :) We had some problems with loading the battery of this thing first, but now it's working

We are in Japan! I'm sitting in a net cafè called Gran Cyber Cafe in Shinjuku. 290 yen (a couple of euros) for an hour plus free drinks and manga. Yay. We still don't have accommodation in Kyoto and are trying to research that. Not having much luck, everyone wants to go to Kyoto next week, apparently. Hopefully we don't have to abandon the idea of
