First off... we're pregnant! Some of you already know this from being around us, etc. but we haven't wanted to make a public statement since things are so iffy the first trimester. Thanks to everyone who said some kind words for the Schmoo. That was one of the toughest/saddest things I've had to go through in a long time. Holding him in my arms wrapped in a blanket when they put the anesthesia doses in him was the last thing I could do for him and put me in tears for hours ( Read more... )

We've been worried about the Schmoo for a little while now... he's been having stomach issues and hasn't been as "friendly" as his usual self for a few months now. Normally he'd jump up on the cat tower during the day and up on the bed in the evenings. He hasn't done either of those much in the past few months. So last Thursday I was driving home from work and got rear-ended. The guy hit me pretty hard, so I'm pretty sure his car is totaled. The estimate of damage done to my car is ~$7k. Parts of the rear frame were bent/ripped due to the hitch. But without the hitch, I'm pretty sure he would have hit my axle. They told me mine would be in the shop ( Read more... )

So I spent Wed & Thursday serving as a Juror in the Wake County system. Had a criminal case. Felony Breaking and Entering and Misdemeanor Larceny. Defendant was determined to be guilty on both counts. Sucks to be him. The whole defense case was pretty much built on a pack of lies. There was too much circumstantial evidence.
