Well, Thanksgiving dinner at our place yesterday evening was more or less a hit. :) There were a few minor hitches, such as the fact that none of the four grocery stores here in Schagen were selling squash (what the hell?!?). There really are few things in life more wonderful than pink fondant cupcakes. They're charmingly, unabashedly artificial with their lovely Pepto Bismol-pink glaze. In fact, I don't think they'd be half so appealing if they were any other color. Nothing but butter, flour, sugar, eggs, and artificial dyes... mmmmm.

Urgh, it just occurred to me that today is Thanksgiving. Or at least I think it is. And instead of being at home in Plano, fighting over that last piece of pecan pie, I am sitting here in Holland reading the world's most boring articles about the evolution of social complexity in the Caribbean. Just got a call from the IND saying that they were attempting to make a decision on my residence permit (finally!), but that we had not submitted the necessary copy of Rick's passport.
