Well, Mom had a pretty good week for someone who has just had 2 strokes in 2 weeks. The Dr's sent her off to Rehab today now that she's stable again and getting fiesty. Hopefully over the next couple weeks she'll get enough reconditioning to be able to get around. She seems to have gotten over the blues and I see some of her stubborn spirit ( Read more... )

So, after a very stressful I-don't-know-if-she's-gonna-make-it-weekend Mom's started to turn around some and perk up. The strokes are suspected to be due to blood clots getting to the brain due to A) DVT and or B) Congestive Heart conditions. Well, my Mom got off to a decent start this week at rehab from the stroke she had that affected her left side. Unfortunately last night she had another stroke about 20 minutes after I'd spoken to her by phone. This one affects her right side and her ability to speak. I'm happy to report that my Mom is a good candidate for rehab from her stroke last week. She's really starting to bounce back in the positive attitude department, thank heavens. Monday or Tuesday she'll transfer to a rehab facility that will help her get reconditioned and with a little help, she'll be able to return home. Mom had some tough days ( Read more... )

Well, Mom's time out of the hospital was brief. My sister brought her to the hospital for suspected stroke yesterday and it's confirmed that Mom did suffer a minor stroke. Well guys, I've been a bit out of the loop lately due to another hospitalization of my Mom. She had a fall last Thursday and while she didn't break anything in the fall she couldn't regain a standing position either. Mom is doing very well and it looks like she'll get to go home tomorrow. There's still a few unanswered questions on how to manage NOT to have this happen in the future, will she need oxygen support at home, etc. But she's back in a healthy BP range, pulse is much better, fluids have been drained off -- things are looking positive.
