‘Want to come over after school? Actually, Friday after school because I’ve got to meet up with someone tonight,’ Myungsoo half-yawned, half-whispered to Woohyun who sat next to him. They were both grateful to God that they had math together third period. Sungjong sat on the other side of Myungsoo and he was grateful too - he actually had someone to talk to since all Myungsoo did was sleep and get above-average grades without even trying. It must’ve been genetics, Sungjong supposed, since Sunggyu never payed attention in class either and was the top student.

‘Really, Kim? With your brother hating me and all?’ Woohyun pressed, sneaking his phone out of his pocket.

‘It’s not like things can get any worse,’ Myungsoo mumbled back, his voice being muffled by his arm.

‘Actually, he could bully you, Woohyun-hyung,’ Sungjong said, wincing.

‘Sunggyu doesn’t bully. He just punishes,’ Myungsoo corrected, shaking his head. He turned his head to the side and smirked up at Woohyun. ‘And yes, Hyun, take that as dirtily as you want it to be.’

Woohyun rolled his eyes. Myungsoo had been hinting the you-have-a-thing-for-my-brother theory since the end of recess. ‘I’m not into your brother, Kim,’ he denied for the nth instance.

‘But if you two date then he’ll have someone else to nag and I will be nag-free,’ Myungsoo groaned, earning a pat on the back from Sungjong. It was apparent that Sungjong received the good portion of older brotherly love and left Myungsoo with the not-so-good portion - the lecturing, the nagging, the yelling, the punishing. Sunggyu always assured him that is was out of the goodness of his heart and that Myungsoo was just being a disobedient twat.

‘Oh Kim, I mean so much to you, don’t I?’ Woohyun replied sarcastically.

Myungsoo nodded. ‘Yes, you do. And that’s why I’m telling you to not come late to class again.’

‘Seriously? What can your adorable brother do to me?’ Woohyun laughed.

Myungsoo gave him a knowing smirk. ‘Did Woohyun just call my brother adorable?’

‘I am not into your brother!’ Woohyun argued, getting frustrated. Sure, Woohyun found Sunggyu mildly attractive, but Woohyun could have anyone he wanted - there was no patience for mildly attractive when he could have extremely attractive instead.

‘Hyun, just come to class on time when you have a class with Sunggyu-hyung, okay?’ Myungsoo said sternly this time.

Woohyun shrugged, leaning back in his chair. ‘Still don’t know what the big deal is, but if it keeps your pretty little panties from bunching up than I’ll behave around your squishy brother.’

It tempted Woohyun - it being pissing Kim Sunggyu off. He just wanted to see what Sunggyu would do, how would he react. The other students made it seem like a forbidden thing and no one told him exactly how Sunggyu would “punish” him. He almost fell into temptation.

Almost.

‘I’m not wearing any underwear though.’

‘Ew!’

-

Sunggyu walked into his literature class just when the bell sounded. Everyone else was already seated and quietly waiting for the teacher; actually it was more like they, including the teacher, were waiting for the student body president to take his seat.

About fifteen minutes into class (fifteen minutes of Temple Run for Sunggyu), the door opened. The students’ heads shot up in the direction of the door and then came in Jang Dongwoo. Most of the students gasped, staring at either Dongwoo or Sunggyu.

They all thought they knew what was going to happen at lunch, behind the school’s bleachers - it was always behind the school’s bleachers.

Sunggyu rose an eyebrow at the boy who was being lectured by the teacher for his tardiness. When Dongwoo noticed someone looking at him, he saw Sunggyu and immediately grinned. Disregarding the teacher’s nagging, he skipped along to Sunggyu and sat in the seat next to him.

‘Hi! I’m Dongwoo. Do you remember me? What’s your name?’ he chirped brightly, holding out his hand for Sunggyu to shake.

Everyone else’s attention was on them, everyone else’s jaws were hanging open. Sunggyu was slightly scared about how widely Dongwoo was smiling at him, but shook his hand nonetheless.

‘Yeah, I remember you. You’re Woohyun’s friend… I’m Sunggyu,’ Sunggyu stated uncertainly. Dongwoo hopped in his seat, turning to face the teacher. Sunggyu almost jumped out of his skin from the randomness.

Dongwoo laughed for no particular reason and sang loudly, ‘You know Woohyun?’

Sunggyu nodded slowly, eyebrows crinkled together as he blankly stared at Dongwoo. He was too terrified to look away - Dongwoo was a ticking time bomb.

Everyone started whispering: Sunggyu knows Woohyun? Yeah, I saw them in biology together! Wasn’t Woohyun late to class? Why isn’t he dead yet? I don’t know. It usually only takes half a day or less!

The constant whispering of how Woohyun wasn’t dead yet confused Dongwoo to no end. He tilted his head, looking at the boy next to him. ‘Was Woohyun meant to die?’ he asked innocently.

Sunggyu looked at Dongwoo’s cute muddled face and turned his attention back to his phone, ignoring him completely.

Dongwoo frowned, turning back to the front.

‘Alright class, settle down!’ the teacher yelled, silencing everyone. Dongwoo had to bite his lip to stop himself from giggling. He found it funny how easily everyone quietened - probably because West campus was never silent, not even for a second.

Everyone except Sunggyu picked up their pens and started copying down everything the teacher said. Dongwoo tried to keep up at first, but gave up when the teacher started talking too fast for him to comprehend.

Class became a blur and he now realised why Sunggyu texted and played games on his mobile. Literature was boring, chemistry was a lot more fun, Dongwoo concluded. As he watched the teacher who was stationary behind his desk, not moving anything except his mouth, sleep started getting the better of Dongwoo and his eyelids were slowly dropping. He had fallen asleep and his body was swaying side to side rather oddly to find a position it was comfortable with. Sunggyu side-eyed him and almost shat himself when Dongwoo’s head landed on his shoulder.

A few kids at the back row dropped their pencils.

Sunggyu froze at the contact, slowly turning his head to the sleeping figure’s head perched on his shoulder. He didn’t know how to react - Dongwoo was practically a stranger. If it were Myungsoo, Sunggyu would shove the other right off his seat. If it were Sungjong, Sunggyu would have petted his head softly and then ignored his existence. If it was Hoya... Well, if it was Hoya, the world was probably ending and cream puffs were falling from the sky.

It was too awkward for Sunggyu to do anything about it, so he carried on like Dongwoo wasn’t there. In his head, he contemplated how he should approach this guy at lunch… How was he going to punish this load of sunshine? Maybe he would let him off, Sunggyu thought. After all, he did let Woohyun off yesterday. It would only be fair.

-

‘So you’re coming over Friday night?’ Myungsoo asked, slinging his books into his locker and then closing it with a secure thud.

Woohyun wrapped an arm around the younger’s shoulders and proceeded walking. ‘Why do you want me at your house?’ he queried.

Myungsoo played innocent (although it was very creepy to Woohyun) and pouted slightly. ‘Because your my friend now, right?’

‘What am I meant to do with your brother there?!’ Woohyun exclaimed, pushing the other to the wall in emphasis.

Grinning cheekily, Myungsoo said in a teasing voice, ‘If you don’t like him, then what does it matter to you whether he’s there or not?’

‘I hate you,’ the older grunted much to Myungsoo’s amusement.

‘Yeah, so does Sunggyu-hyung.’

Woohyun spotted a whisk of caramel hair that captured his attention. He whispered, bumping shoulders with the other boy, ‘Speaking of the fluffy devil.’

‘Hi hyung,’ Myungsoo greeted as Sunggyu approached them, Dongwoo by his side (more like Dongwoo was trailing along behind him, but it was obvious that they were sort of together).

The first thing Sunggyu did was glare at Woohyun and say darkly, ‘Did you just call me the fluffy devil?’

‘How did he hear that?’ Woohyun whispered again.

Myungsoo laughed, ‘The fluffy devil hears all.’

Sunggyu scoffed at the remark, shoving his brother’s face away playfully.

‘So why are you with Dongwoo?’ Woohyun asked, looking at Dongwoo who ended up beside him, sleepiness evident on his features.

Myungsoo smirked, ‘Jealous, Hyun?’

Woohyun rolled his eyes, shoving the younger away like Sunggyu did. ‘Get a life, Kim!’

‘Why is everyone being so violent today?’ Myungsoo thought to himself.
Sunggyu cleared his throat and requested in a clear voice, ‘Myungsoo, Dongwoo, can I please speak with Woohyun alone?’

‘Ooooh! Someone’s in trouble,’ Myungsoo laughed along with Dongwoo as the two averted their direction elsewhere.

Woohyun smiled as Sunggyu looks to the ground, waiting for a response.

‘What is it, cutie?’

The word made Sunggyu’s eyebrow and lip twitch. ‘Firstly, you need to stop calling me that,’ he huffs out. ‘But most importantly…’

‘Most importantly?’ Woohyun urged, sensing Sunggyu’s uncertainty towards what he wanted to say.

‘Don’t be a bad role model for my brother...’

-

Myungsoo was giving Dongwoo a brisk tour of the school - where the nurse was, where the bathrooms were, where the group hot juniors hung out - you know, all the important places. He was just about to show him where the music room was when Howon decided to show up.

Dongwoo’s body froze at the sight of him. He was staring directly at him and stalking closer until he was a mere metre away. Dongwoo’s heart was beating against his ribcage and he could feel the pulse in his ear. The sight of Howon made him nervous for some reason - most likely because he slapped him yesterday. He didn’t know if that had pissed the other off or not.

Myungsoo looked between the both of them, trying to work out what type of strange atmosphere this was.

‘Can I talk to you alone please?’ Howon directed at Dongwoo.

Dongwoo swallowed the lump in his throat.

Scratched his head in confusion, Myungsoo turned around and walked off, saying in exasperation, ‘What is this? Make Myungsoo a Loner Day?’

Once Myungsoo was out of sight and the hallway was empty, Dongwoo had the courage to look up from his feet. Howon didn’t stop staring at him.

‘I want to acquaint you.’

Dongwoo was taken aback by the comment and took a step back with his eyes widened, spluttering, ‘W - What?’

Howon’s expression didn’t falter and neither did his voice. ‘I’m fascinated by you,’ he justified.

'You're fascinated by me? Why?'

'No one has ever yelled at me like that before,' Howon explained, again, still keeping every bit of his composure and lack of expression. 'No one has ever hit me across the face, told me I was a "jerk", turned around and walked away from me without looking back.'

Dongwoo blinked.

'It fascinates me.'

-

Myungsoo roamed the school alone, abandoned. Why did Sungjong have to have a different lunchtime club almost every single day of the week? He said it was because he was trying to figure out what he wanted to do as a career and whatnot. Myungsoo hated thinking about that - the future, that is. In his mind, the future was like a far off land guarded by a three-headed Cyclops that shot lasers from its eyes.

Actually, Myungsoo was too mature to think that way. He just thought the future wasn’t as necessary as the present.

He was starting to get bored and was making his way to the cafeteria to tend to his growling stomach, when he saw a certain skyscraper…

An evil grin invaded Myungsoo’s pretty boy features as he strutted over to the vending machine Sungyeol was standing in front of. ‘Well hello there, Lee Sungyeol,’ he said slyly, expertly slipping an arm around the older boy’s waist.

Chills slid down Sungyeol’s spine and he swatted Myungsoo away, screaming, ‘GET AWAY FROM ME.’

‘Did I do something wrong?’ Myungsoo gasped, faking innocence by making his eyes big and round and pointing at himself as if he was saying Really? Me?

Sungyeol nodded rapidly, ‘Yeah, you… you…’ But his muddled brain couldn’t come up with a legitimate-sounding answer.

Myungsoo made his way closer, his voice dripping in not-so-hidden contempt, ‘What? What exactly did I do wrong? You want me to kiss you better?’

Sungyeol’s feet glided backwards across the smooth floor until his back hit the hot beverage vending machine. ‘NO. STAY RIGHT THERE,’ he protested in distress, raising his hands in alarm.

‘Come on, it’s not like I’m going to hurt you.’ Myungsoo’s tongue clicked as his eyes caught sight of Sungyeol’s cute ass pressed up against the machine. Swiftly, his hand reached around and Sungyeol screamed, making to shove his hand away from his precious rear.

Myungsoo laughed, his hand retreating. This time Sungyeol screamed again as Myungsoo was stepping away, jumping into his chest. The younger almost fell backwards, but had the reflexes to grab hold of the skyscraper before they both tumbled.

Then Myungsoo saw exactly why he screamed and jumped - there was hot coffee all over the back of his pants. When Sungyeol was in panic, he must’ve accidentally knocked over the cup of coffee he had just bought from the machine.

Myungsoo’s eyes grew wide at the milky brown liquid on the ground and pushed the older forward slightly so he could examine his face.

Sungyeol was tearing up.

‘W - Why are you crying?’ Myungsoo stuttered anxiously, trying to turn the other boy around to see the damage, but Sungyeol slapped him away.

‘Go away! I don’t need your help…’ Sungyeol sniffed, glaring at the younger through watery eyes. The hot coffee had drenched the back of his pants and burned his poor skin, and now it was hard to walk because of the sensation.

The corner of Myungsoo’s lip twitched as he watched Sungyeol slowly stumble out of the cafeteria, leaving a coffee trail behind him.

‘I’m sure you know where the nurse is,’ Myungsoo called after him, knowing very well Sungyeol didn’t.

Loudly heaving in rage, Sungyeol turned around and gave Myungsoo the you win face. Myungsoo smiled and ran up to him to lead him to the nurse.

-

‘Why am I your brother’s role model?’ Woohyun obviously wasn’t grasping the whole don’t-be-a-bad-influence-to-my-brother wave link Sunggyu was on.

Sunggyu rubbed his neck. ‘It’s rather hard to explain…’

‘I’ve got time.’

The older tilted his head and said mockingly, ‘But do I have enough time? You are sort of slow.’

‘Was that an insult?’ Woohyun drilled, grinning cynically at the snarky comment.

Sunggyu shrugged. ‘Further proves my point.’

‘So you were saying,’ the younger brought forth, leaning against the wall beside the entrance to a staircase.

‘I’m the only male influence he has, but he’s a brat and doesn’t listen to me - which is probably why he doesn’t know what he’s going to do after school yet.’

Woohyun nods in understanding (although the question about their father, or rather whether or not they had a father, was floating in his head).

‘This is why I want him to do well. I want to make sure he gets good grades so his options will be broadened.’

‘And you think I will jeopardise that?’ Woohyun derided in mock hurt.

‘Well, he does look up to you quite a bit and I, as an older brother, would not like to see him sway towards the criminal side of society,’ Sunggyu stated, challengingly raising an eyebrow at the younger.

‘Do you always talk like this?’

Subconsciously, Sunggyu pouted a little and shifted his weight from foot to foot. Woohyun thought he looked utterly squeal-worthy - but no, that would be excessive and would probably scare the daylights out of the other. Plus, Nam Woohyun did not squeal.

‘How do I talk?’

Woohyun smirked this time. ‘Like you’re student body president.’

Sunggyu matched the others lips, crossing his arms loosely around his chest. ‘No,’ he corrected smoothly, ‘I only talk this way to ex student body presidents.’

Shit, Woohyun confirmed that rebellion was a new fucking level of sexy and Sunggyu was all the proof he needed.

Woohyun was just about to start flirting, being egged-on by the sexy smile Sunggyu was giving him (Woohyun liked the way his lips moved very much.), but a scream caught the older boy’s attention.

‘What’s that?’ Sunggyu asked worriedly, looking in the direction of the stairwell where the sound was coming from.

Rubbing his face, Woohyun sighed, ‘Sounds like Sungyeol to me.’ Dang it, why did the world have to constantly interrupt Woohyun’s flirting with Sunggyu?

‘I should go check what’s wrong,’ Sunggyu said more to himself than to Woohyun, quickly walking up the stairs.

‘Of course, student body president,’ Woohyun thought to himself so Sunggyu didn’t hear and followed.

-

‘Do I have permission?’

Dongwoo was utterly messed-up because of Howon’s words, or rather his choice of words. Howon talked like there was a reason for everything, like everything was logical and by-the-book. It was like Howon was reading aloud a script that he memorised word-for-word. Dongwoo’s impression of Howon made him want to rough the younger up a little - although he must admit that Howon seemed less orderly compared to the rest of the goddamn East campus students.

‘Permission for what?’ Dongwoo asked slowly, feeling like everything was going too fast for him, or even too slow, for him to register.

Howon answered, ‘Permission to acquaint you.’

In all honestly, Howon was absurd. Who the hell asks someone’s permission for their acquaintance? The world just didn’t work like that, people just didn’t work like that.

If it were anyone else, they would have turned in the spot and walked away - they would have gave Howon the weirdest look and wonder what the hell was with him - but Dongwoo is not just anyone else. He found it fun and new and different. Dongwoo liked different.

‘Um, sure I guess…?’ Dongwoo laughed, scratching his head.

Howon nodded twice and then said, ‘I’m going to the cafeteria,’ like food was the most boring thing in the world. The older of the two pouted and nodded back, watching has his new acquaintance walked away.

Now to find Woohyun and Sungyeol.

-

‘What happened here?’ Sunggyu asked, eyes widening at the sight of Myungsoo carrying a protesting Sungyeol on his shoulders.

Sungyeol kicked and screamed until the younger gave in and dropped him on the ground, landing on the marble floor with a thud. ‘OUCH!’ Sungyeol wailed, glaring at Myungsoo as he shrugged and rested an elbow on Woohyun’s shoulder.

Pointing at the younger’s pretty boy face, Sungyeol whined accusingly, ‘This Myungsoo jerk burnt me with coffee!’

The said student willed an eye-roll and scoffed, ‘It was an accident and it wasn’t exactly my ass that did it.’

‘Shut up! It was so your fault!’ Sungyeol screamed back, stumbling to his feet with the help of Sunggyu.

‘I think we should sort this out first,’ Sunggyu suggested, pointing to the mess that was on Sungyeol’s pants. ‘You can argue later. Sungyeol, right? Follow me, I’ll take you to the nurse.’

‘I was going to take him to the - Oh hi Howon. You failed to scare the fucking crap out of me this time,’ Myungsoo said as he turned to his right just when Howon brushed past him and walked into the cafeteria. Sunggyu led Sungyeol to the nurse’s office, carefully making sure the younger boy was alright by constantly asking him if he was okay.

When the two disappeared out of sight, Myungsoo and Woohyun were left on their own, in each other’s company.

‘The nurse is going to put analgesic on his ass,’ Myungsoo deadpanned dryly, the stupid pun completely intended. In his mind, he cursed the nurse a thousand times - he wanted to do that job.

Woohyun asked, ‘How the hell did you burn his ass?’
