From: Sungjong
Sunggyu told me he wants to speak with you behind the bleachers tomorrow, at lunch

Yongguk read the text and lolled his head back, thinking. He was getting punished tomorrow. That was bad enough, but Sungjong was the one who told him and that hit him hard. Maybe he shouldn’t have gone to the bleachers, since Sungjong was so against him going there in the first place. He began to wonder what would happen if he didn’t turn up at lunch or better yet, to school at all. Would victims who skipped punishment get it twice as bad? Yongguk hoped not, but he didn’t really want to take that risk.

He decided he was going to show up tomorrow, behind the bleachers. However… he was going to fight back. He wasn’t going to just suck it up and ignore his pride like the others did. Kim Sunggyu was in for it and Yongguk no longer cared that Sunggyu was Sungjong’s friend. Not even a little bit.

-

‘I heard that Bang Yongguk guy was the next on your list,’ Myungsoo mentioned as himself, his brother and Howon were walking to school.

Sunggyu somewhat confirmed, ‘If you are referring to the list of people I need to talk to, then yes.’

Myungsoo had this expressionless look - which was relatively naturally stern on its own - on his face as he warned, ‘Bang Yongguk isn’t some ordinary brat, hyung.’

‘I know,’ Sunggyu chirped somewhat brightly, ‘Sungjong doesn’t like just any ordinary brats. I’m sure he has taste.’

Myungsoo stopped walking and glared at his brother. ‘That’s not what I meant,’ he grunted. Howon looked over at him and then at Sunggyu who merely tilted his head.

‘Then whatever did you mean?’

‘He will fight back, you know that right?’ Myungsoo pressed with an odd sense of protectiveness that had taken aback both Sunggyu and Howon.

Sunggyu stretched his lips into a line and spun on his heel, ignoring his bipolar sibling and walking in the direction of school again. ‘I feel like everyone thinks I am not capable of handling Yongguk,’ he remarked, Howon nodding by his side.

Looking up at the clear sky, Myungsoo let out a frustrated breath and decided to forget it. Sunggyu knew how to handle himself and it wasn’t like Howon was worried - He shouldn’t have been worried either. ‘It’s not that… It’s just that he could probably pick you up and throw you across the soccer pitch,’ Myungsoo stated, ‘Or throw you up against the wall and fuck you senseless.’

Sunggyu’s eyes widened. ‘Myungsoo!’

‘Sorry,’ he apologised immediately. ‘His name is very suggestive.’ His brother bottomed for everyone, Myungsoo thought.

They strolled up to the school gates to meet eyes with a very pouty Sungyeol who had his arms crossed tightly around his chest.

‘Hey skyscraper,’ Myungsoo greeted, as if on instinct.

Sungyeol growled, although he looked like an angry bunny, ‘Go away.’ He then shifted towards Sunggyu and leered, barking, ‘Hyung, how could you do that to Sungjong?! Isn’t he like a brother to you?!’

Both Sunggyu and Howon looked at Myungsoo with questioning looks on their faces. Myungsoo just pointed to himself confusedly before they all looked back at Sungyeol.

‘Okay, not a brother…’ Sungyeol corrected quietly.

‘Don’t worry, Sungyeol,’ Sunggyu eventually assured, ‘I’m doing this for his own good.’

They walked into the school building, side-by-side.

In chemistry, period four, Woohyun was sitting under the bench and hiding because Dongwoo was trying to make a potion that would bring George back to life. Howon was saying how they were supposed to be experimenting about the different types of chemical reactions, but nonetheless did nothing to stop Dongwoo in his pursuit to resurrect Sungyeol’s brother. Woohyun was fucking terrified and more than a little bit bored.

To: Cutie
Bang Yongguk’s going to murder you

Even after Sunggyu’s weird explanation yesterday, Woohyun was still uneasy about Sunggyu punishing Yongguk. He understood that Sunggyu had dealt with stronger, bigger dipshits before, but Yongguk was a West campus student and he didn’t know the rules, he didn’t follow the system. It was admittable that Woohyun was really uncomfortable of the thought of Yongguk clocking Sunggyu basically anywhere. He especially didn’t want Yongguk to touch Sunggyu’s adorable face in any way.

From: Cutie
I’m glad to see how much you believe in me

Woohyun wanted to bang his head against Howon’s legs - He should’ve known Sunggyu would respond in that matter. At least he knew sarcasm ran in their family and that yes, Myungsoo was Sunggyu’s biological brother.

To: Cutie
Sunggyu seriously!!!!!! You shouldnt do this

Frankly, Sunggyu was being really frustrating.

From: Cutie
Oh? Should I take you to the bleachers instead?

But Woohyun still thought his rebellion was fun and indeed, goddamn hot.

To: Cutie
…depends whatcha want to do to me ;)

No, Woohyun didn’t have the hots for Sunggyu. None whatsoever. Nada.

From: Cutie
Masochist.

And Sunggyu barely ever faltered or gave up, for that matter.

To: Cutie
I AM NOT A MASOCHIST!!!!

At the start of lunch, Myungsoo found Sungyeol sitting in front of his locker, eating a massive sandwich. (He probably mooched off Woohyun again.) Myungsoo had his hands behind his back as he said somewhat dejectedly, ‘George was a plant.’ Thank you, Dongwoo.

‘He was a very good plant,’ Sungyeol grumbled, mouth still filled with bread.

Myungsoo finally showed Sungyeol his hands and in them were a small potted strawberry plant. ‘Here’s George 2,’ he sighed. In actuality, Myungsoo was a bit upset with Sungyeol because George was a plant - Myungsoo honestly felt sorry for wanting to bother Sungyeol yesterday even though “George” died, and then he found out George was just a plant and Sungyeol was over-exaggerating to the max.

Sungyeol turned his nose at him and grunted, ‘I don’t want him.’

His reply didn’t exactly make Myungsoo less pissed with him. ‘Why not?’ Myungsoo barked, obviously annoyed.

‘I don’t love him,’ Sungyeol stated simply, not even giving Myungsoo eye contact.

Myungsoo let out a huff, blowing his fringe away from his eyes as he placed the pot plant next to Sungyeol. ‘Fine,’ Myungsoo said, ‘Let’s see how long it’ll last without your help.’

He walked down the hall and left Sungyeol on his own. Sungyeol looked over his shoulder and saw the poor, defenceless pot plant and felt the need to adopt it. Myungsoo, the bastard, just abandoned it and made Sungyeol take care of it.

-

The word spread fast and everyone was crowding around the windows to watch the show. Sungjong had seen no sight of Yongguk anywhere and knew the inevitable was going to happen. With his slim frame, he was able to squeeze through everyone and be right against the window on the second floor, the best view in the building. Sunggyu was already at the bleachers, waiting patiently while sitting on the first row of metal bench. And Sungjong knew that meant Sunggyu wasn’t going to hold back, even though he knew that Sungjong was friends with Yongguk.

About five minutes later, people started to doubt Yongguk arriving and wondered if he’d chickened out. However, his figured leisurely strolled onto the oval and their hearts started racing at the sight of him approaching Sunggyu. Sunggyu’s lip quirked and he stood up, gaze somewhat provocative - sort of explained why Sunggyu had so many people chasing after him. Almost everything he said or did at the bleachers made him look like a bit of a sadistic flirt. The stats show that sadistic flirts were hot.

‘Glad to see you’ve received the invitation,’ Sunggyu mentioned.

Yongguk glared at him and he just stood there, waiting for Sunggyu’s first move. Before Sunggyu could take the conversation further, a shadow appeared between them and someone’s back was in front of Sunggyu. It was the idiot trying to mess up everything again.

Initially, Sunggyu rolled his eyes. He then spat, rather irritated by Woohyun’s unexpected appearance, ‘What are you doing?’

‘Woohyun, why are you defending him?’ Yongguk exclaimed, somewhat betrayed. West campus was supposed to stick together or some corny bullshit like that. But honestly, no one really cared about each other anymore since they arrived at East campus grounds.

Woohyun’s eyes were furious as he sneered at Yongguk, before him, and muttered lowly, ‘If you even leave a scratch on him, I’ll kill you.’

Sunggyu smacked the back of Woohyun’s head and yelled, ‘You idiot, go away! I have business I need to attend to.’

Holding his beaten head, Woohyun jutted his bottom lip out and responded, ‘But -‘

‘Go away!’ Yongguk and Sunggyu groaned in unison.

Woohyun looked between the two cautiously and stepped backwards, droning, ‘Okay… but I won’t go very far.’ He then walked over to in front of the building, observing from a distance.

Yongguk began after Woohyun was no longer drilling into his head, ‘Sungjong said you wanted to speak with me.’

‘Did he hesitated?’ Sunggyu exhaled, crossing his arms.

Crooking an eyebrow, Yongguk mumbled confusedly, ‘Um… what?’

‘He probably didn’t even tell you in person because he couldn’t handle it. It means he didn’t want you to come here, am I wrong?’ Sunggyu knew he was right. Sungjong was a weakling on the inside, no matter how confident his front was.

Scratching his head, Yongguk queried uncertainly, ‘Isn’t there a part to this where I get severely beat up?’

‘I don’t think every conversation I’ve had has ended in violence,’ Sunggyu retorted cunningly.

Yongguk stayed quiet, not sure where Sunggyu was going with this.

‘I just wanted to meet you here to tell you that we will meet here again for a different reason if you ever hurt Sungjong, in any way,’ Sunggyu digressed as he leaned against the metal railing of the bleachers. Meeting Yongguk at the bleachers was the result of Sunggyu wanting Sungjong to be safe - nothing more, nothing less.

Yongguk finally understood what Sunggyu meant. ‘So this is a warning?’

‘Your only warning.’

Sunggyu left without another word and walked in the school building’s direction. (The disappointed sighs of the rest of the school could be heard through the thick glass.) Before he could enter the building, Woohyun ran up to him and grabbed his arm. Sunggyu shook him off with distaste and looked at him weirdly.

‘So?’ Woohyun dragged the word out for a few seconds.

Sunggyu coped him, ‘So?’

‘That’s it? No blood, no bruises?’

Sunggyu smirked and asked mockingly, ‘Had your hopes up for something, I’m presuming?’ He then walked through the doorway and Woohyun grunted loudly, for the whole floor to hear, ‘I’m not a masochist!’

Sunggyu laughed and proceeded to his locker.

-

Howon and Dongwoo weren’t interested about the whole ordeal and were in the gymnasium again. Dongwoo was jumping everywhere, making a game of leaping from one row to another without falling over. He lost a few times and Howon had to help him up. Dongwoo eventually got tired and jumped into the seat beside Howon. Before either of them could say anything, Dongwoo kissed Howon. The latter froze up like any other time Dongwoo kissed him and stayed still.

This made Dongwoo angry and he whined, ‘Why won’t you kiss me back?’

Howon looked down to his fingers and stared blankly.

Dongwoo pushed his face all up into Howon’s personal space, his face just two inches away from Howon’s as he sang off-tune, ‘Howon…?’

Howon coughed and questioned warily, ‘Wouldn’t someone not try again after the first instance?’

‘No,’ Dongwoo grumbled. He then pressed his lips against Howon’s again in emphasis and again, received nothing in return. He pulled away and wailed, ‘Kiss back!’

Howon shook his head, looking elsewhere.

Dongwoo sighed in defeat and made a compromise, ‘At least kiss me first then. Here.’ Dongwoo closed his eyes and puckered his lips in Howon’s direction, patting his knee to encourage the other to peck him. When Dongwoo was about to give up and reopen his eyes, he felt Howon’s lips on his and he smiled, even though Howon pulled away a split second later.

-

Yongguk was still immensely confused by the SBP when he went to his locker and found Sungjong in front of his.

‘You’re okay…’ Sungjong mumbled.

Yongguk nodded. ‘I’m okay.’

Sighing, Sungjong whacked the older boy’s head and screeched, ‘Scared me for no reason, you punk!’

‘What were you scared about?’ Yongguk chuckled, easily grasping Sungjong’s wrists and pinning them to his side.

‘You getting hurt,’ Sungjong scoffed, thinking the other was a dumbass.

Yongguk’s eyes widened and he let the wrists go. ‘Why?’

‘Duh. Because I like you?’ Sungjong really thought Yongguk was a dumbass. At least he knew the rank one hundred and sixty-seventh placing was true. (And so Wikipedia was right in this instance.)

‘R - Really?’

Sungjong laughed and began walking, Yongguk following him by his side. ‘Big and tough guy who has weirdly coloured hair stutters?’ Sungjong asked, relieved that Yongguk was okay, although he’d never ever say it out loud.

‘It happens more often than you think.’ In all honestly, Yongguk was a bit of a pansy on the inside.

-

After the dismissal bell, Sungyeol, Woohyun and Dongwoo were met up at their lockers. Woohyun looked up and saw someone he hadn’t seen around before with a map, looking around for his locker. Everyone was looking at him in intrigue. Woohyun frowned as he asked Dongwoo, beside him, ‘Who’s that?’

Dongwoo peeked at the figure and answered, uninterested, ‘New kid, maybe?’

‘Weird,’ Sungyeol grunted, furrowing his brow.

‘What is?’ Woohyun asked, freaked out by the way Sungyeol was looking at him.

Sungyeol blurted out, ‘You not giving a decapitated camel about this guy stealing your spotlight.’

Before Woohyun could respond, Sunggyu walked past with Howon and Woohyun smiled widely. ‘Hey, cutie,’ he greeted cheekily.

Sunggyu flipped him the bird and walked past. ‘I hope you rot in hell, you idiot,’ he called back. Woohyun stared at Sunggyu’s leaving form up until he left the building, creepy smile on his face.

‘You can see why,’ Dongwoo muttered to Sungyeol, the younger nodding smartly.

Sungyeol then looked at the new kid who was bumping into everyone and apologising. ‘He looks familiar,’ Sungyeol commented, narrowing his eyes to examine the guy’s face. ‘Is that…?’

The guy then turned and stared right back at Sungyeol, exclaiming in surprise, ‘Sungyeol?’

The voice made something in Sungyeol’s head clicked and he shouted, for the whole hallway to hear, ‘DOOJOON?!’ He clutched the other’s shoulders and gasped, ‘What are you doing here?’

‘I moved near here,’ Doojoon answered, still shocked to see Sungyeol right in front of him, insanely big eyes and all.

Woohyun pondered out loud, ‘Who’s this?’

‘My cousin,’ Sungyeol answered, still staring at Doojoon, almost hypnotically.

‘You’re kidding,’ Woohyun scoffed in disbelief.

Sungyeol then looked over his shoulder and angrily snapped, ‘What do you mean you’re kidding? What, I’m not allowed to be related to people?’

Woohyun explained teasingly, ‘No, it’s just… He looks too normal.’

‘HEY!’

-

At the school gates, Myungsoo waited for Woohyun. He was going to come over again because Sunggyu was going somewhere with Howon - thus Myungsoo was going to be bored out of his mind. As Woohyun was arriving to his side, Myungsoo was shooting someone the death glare from a distance. ‘What’s with the face, Kim?’ Woohyun queried. He followed Myungsoo’s trail of sight and saw Sungyeol catching up with Doojoon near the far end of the school fence.

Myungsoo growled, voice low and deep, ‘Who’s that?’

‘You’re kidding,’ Woohyun sighed, shaking his head in disapproval.

Myungsoo pointed the gaze towards Woohyun and said, same tone of voice as before, ‘No, I’m not kidding.’ Woohyun was going to inform him that Doojoon was just his cousin and there was nothing to it… However, Myungsoo was a douchebag. He trapped Sunggyu and Woohyun in this stupid prank that Woohyun yet to take revenge for.

Seeing Myungsoo be hung up over Sungyeol because he didn’t know a little something Woohyun forgot to tell him would be fun, right?

‘Okay… Um, that’s Doojoon. New kid and um…’ Woohyun said unsurely. ‘Can you please stop looking at me like that? You’re freaking me out.’

-

‘You really scared my today’ was the first thing Sunggyu heard when he called Woohyun that night.

Sunggyu sat on his balcony again, leaning his back against the railing and facing his room. ‘Don’t I scare you every day?’ he laughed breathlessly.

‘Yeah but… Not what I meant,’ Woohyun replied kind of quietly, as if he was really sincere. He was lying on his bed, phone on his bedside table and speaker on. There was a long pause and Woohyun could hear the awkwardness through the phone. It was like Sunggyu knew he meant what he said and that Woohyun was actually seriously worried over his well-being.

Frankly, Sunggyu didn’t care what Woohyun thought. ‘Oh please, you’re just a wuss.’

‘So I’m a wuss for worrying about you?’ Woohyun scoffed, making threatening faces at the phone.

‘Well, Myungsoo didn’t seem overly fussed.’

‘So I’m overly fussed?’

‘No, you were overly fussed. Now you’re just being petty.’

Woohyun loved it when Sunggyu talked like that - like he was a teacher, like he had authority, like a smart honour student that obeyed the rules like they were his religion. You had to admit it was kind of hot in a kinky sort of way. ‘Intelligence is pretty sexy, you know,’ he commented after the short loll in conversation.

Sunggyu said tauntingly, ‘I guess you’re as sexy as a footstool, Mr Bottom End of Every Class.’

Woohyun giddily propped himself on his elbows and countered, ‘If you don’t think footstools are sexy, you’ve obviously never seen hardcore porn.’

Sunggyu’s gorgeous laugh resounded throughout his room and he chuckled heartedly, ‘You’re foul.’ Woohyun smiled to himself and laid back comfortably on his bed, staring at the light of his phone.

Neither of them knew how, but they spent hours talking about stupid things and having trivial arguments that barely made sense. It was two in the morning before Sunggyu realised and he yawned, didn’t bother to tell Woohyun bye and hung up. After the younger realised, he threw pillows everywhere and went to sleep with a huff.
