During the first ever Odyssey my daughter was due to be born, so I missed it.
During the first PD Odyssey my cousin was getting married, so I missed it.
This time it appears my impending redundancy has scuppered me attending the June event. And, the nebulous future employment situation has put the August Event rather in doubt too.

On a lighter note
Had a great weekend in Manchester, barring Nina's trip to the A&E (she's fine now). The 10k was a good un', and I managed my target time of sub one hour - 58.27 to be precise. The last 1.5k was bloody hard - the only thing that got me through it was the thought that at any moment I could run past Catherine and the Kids and I couldn't let them see ( Read more... ) -
Drat (And Double Drat)
Well, today we got the news at work that we were half expecting but still dreading. On July the first Northern Rock will close it's Sunderland based office thereby making all the staff who work there (including your humble correspondant) compusilory redundant.

Quick Telly Tip
Just watched an episode of The Booth at the End on FX. Very intriguing little show, done in a nice low-key character driven stylee. I shall be looking out for further episodes with interest. -
Going all the way baby
Just finished tonights training run, and for the first time I've gone all the way - the full 10k / 6.2 miles. Time was approx one hour and two minutes, not great but not shocking given various factors (knackered off work, hadn't ate or drank great today etc) and times can be improved ( Read more... ) -

Just noticed the polling cards for Mays local council / voting reform referendum. I'm a bit undecided on the old referrendum as it happens. I'm all for voting reform but I'm not keen on AV. Saturday (well, Friday) Night at the Movies
Catherine is likely going out on Friday night, so I'm planning to treat it as an opportunity to watch one of the backlog of films I've got on the old Sky+ and on DVD. Trouble is, which one? If anyone can offer any opinions or recommendations regarding the following I'd be grateful

Just finished reading A Game of Thrones. T'was fun but mildly annoying that after 800-odd pages the story really started moving along only for the bloody thing to end. May have to pick up Clash of Kings now.
