Blame this one on my sister.
When I was a boy, my parents bought her a record player and a copy of the soundtrack for Annie. She played it continuously! Especially one particular song. Every day. For hours at a time. Previous experience told me that arguments, reasoning, and threats would only convince her to exploit my weakness. So I tried to ignore it. Hour after hour. Day after day. Month after month. For over a year, she played that song every single day!
My parents thought it was cute. Plus, while she was listening to that song, she was sitting in her room peacefully; neither beating up her older brother nor running about the house laughing maniacally.*
I hated this song so much, that when I heard that my high school was performing Annie for their annual musical, I not only could not bring myself to audition, but could not even go see my friends who were involved. These days, my loyalty to my friends would over-ride my feelings about the song. But I suspect that is partially because I no longer live with my sister.
Day 29: One song that gives you the creeps.
Day 30: A song you'd like played at your funeral.
[*] She had a tendency to sneak up behind me while I was quietly reading and whack! me across the back of my head with her dolls. And yes, maniacal laughter while running through the house was a common occurrence with her.
