Just got back to Toronto after nearly 5 weeks in Vancouver, working part-time, had eye surgery, visited Whistler, and partied with friends! Also saw Cyndi Lauper in concert at the Pacific National Exhibition for free! She was great! The Worst Concert: Elton John
Last night I attended what was probably the WORST concert I've ever seen. Elton John @ Hamilton, Ontario (an hour away from Toronto). The music was incredibly LOUD especially coming from the band. Free at Last!
Yesterday marks the official end of the academic year for me! No more coursework until September! I've been running like at a break-neck pace for the last few months with a million things on my plate (coursework, thesis vetting process, research for professor, publications, and 2 consulting projects). Bad Tim Hortons Service
This morning I had probably one of the worst customer service experiences in recent memory. I ordered a breakfast combo meal at Tim Hortons (biscuit sandwich, hash brown, and coffee) plus a bottle of water. The coffee never came, so I stood waiting. Then this conversation ensued ( Read more... ) -
Long Weekend of Eating
Today (Monday) is Victoria Day here. The city is so deserted that one might think an epidemic wiped out the population. I've never seen Toronto like this. It's bizarre. I have no idea where people's priorities are these days. Two people I know on Facebook commented on the situation in Thailand: one is an expat living in Bangkok, another is an expat living in Taiwan. Universities
I just read "universities have long been considered one of society's most international institutions."
Very interesting. I've never thought about this. All of a sudden it makes so much sense that I study/work in one! Can you think of other institutions that are very international in society?
