One of my first graders came up to me during journal-writing time the other day. Said first grader is one of about four in my room who has a pretty serious speech problem. It's very difficult to understand much of what he says, though some things come out clear as a bell. Our conversation went like this:

I've been putting off doing laundry. Now that the weather's in that in-between stage of hot-some-days then coolish then sort-of-warm, I can rotate between wearing dresses and pants and capris. That way I don't end up running out of any one thing and I can wash a lot less ( Read more... )

Well, I survived the first of two 'teacher prep' days back at school. The day started when I left my house at 6:05am, to pick up the woman I carpool with, and made the 20 minute drive to school for our first official Union Meeting of the year.
