Hyukjae is from Super Junior, and Junsu is from DBSK, but they're best friends anyway, and have been since their school days, even before they auditioned for SM Entertainment. To be honest, more than a manifesto, this has turned out to partly be a Hyuksu history of sorts. I can't help it though, they're really epic in their bff-ery, and they've been through so much together, I won't be able to explain why I love them in just a few words. I do summarize in the end, but still, epic bff-ery calls for epic manifesto lengths.

Hyukjae is the best ever. Okay, that just might me for me, but he's still awfully adorable anyway. He gets picked on a lot by the other members, older and younger, Kangin especially. He's had to experience at least three hidden camera pranks, and he will probably fall for another one given the chance. He gets teased a lot about his "porn" to the point that there was actually a news article about it and his mom called him up about it to find out if it's true. Despite all these though, he will be the first one to say that SJ is family, and he's the type to try his best to hold on to the group (see EHB ep.08). He's also a big crybaby, all the members will attest to this. He's also the lead rapper for the group (he frequently writes his own lyrics too), and one of the four lead dancers.
Junsu, I don't know as well as I do Hyukjae, but apparently (apart from being known for his 'cute duck butt') he has dual facets to his personality; he can be innocent when it comes to some things, but then, he also admitted to watching porn. he is often "bullied" and made fun of by the members, and yet he also manages to snark right back at them. Junsu also gives the impression of being the one in the group that no one can resist (for long). He loves lame-ass bad puns and he uses them whenever he can, and he actually laughs at his own jokes before other people laugh (if they do at all).

In 5th grade?
Yes, that's right. When I was in 5th grade, after the audition, I was in that entertainment company and was in a 4-member group. My best friend EunHyuk who's a member of Super Junior was in that group as well. In Korea, we were the youngest group ever. But then, someone recommended us to current entertainment company (SM) so we all went for an audition there and EunHyuk and I were the only ones made it. That's when that group broke up.

SUPER FOOTNOTE: For the longest time I thought this was, like their SM audition or what. Until I realised the date is 2001 and that doesn't make sense 'cause if we go by Junsu's 'legendary' six years of training, then they should've been in SM since late '90s. Eventually found out that this is cut from former H.O.T.'s Moon Heejun and Kangta's Pop vs. Rock - Battle of the Century! TV show where they auditioned kids and split into two teams: Pop (under Kangta), and Rock (under Heejun). Sungmin and TRAX's Jay Kim (Typhoon), Kang Jungwoo (Attack), and No Minwoo (Rose, ex-TRAX) were also involved. WATCH HERE (unsubbed, but super fun anyway).

Wiki says they were called Daeneb, I just don't know how accurate that is. They were a temporary trio (my guess for the purpose of practicing together, much like Kangchul/Yunjae's Four Seasons), already under SM Entertainment. Apparently there were talks of them debut-ing together, except Junsu's voice refused to break in time (cue all of Junsu's emo stories about crying over his voice not breaking, and having to see a doctor, etc). And then DBSK happened and Junsu debuted, and the trio was scrapped, and then two years later Super Junior debuted, and we all know what the present is, but these three is still one of the biggest what-could-have-beens. At least for me.

Eunhyuk: [T]here was a time when we purposefully made Donghae cry. Before debut, DBSK's Junsu and I got together and talked: 'let's make Donghae cry.'
Donghae: It was when I hadn't been with the company for long. Eunhyuk and Junsu were there for more than a year, I had only been there for two months. But my situation got to be better.
Eunhyuk: Donghae was about to debut soon at the time. So Junsu and I teased him. 'Donghae-yah, you're now going to change. They say celebrities change. We won't matter to you anymore,' we said and teased him. We teased him, and he just walked away. And then we heard sobbing from the bathroom.
Donghae: *embarrassed smile*
Eunhyuk: We were about to go in, and he punched the door, 'I'm not gonna change!!'
I know a person's initial thought to this would AWW POOR DONGHAE, but mine was LMAO HYUKSU. And this is me overthinking things again (but this is a 'ship manifesto anyway, it should be allowed), but I feel like young Hyuk and Junsu were troublemakers to the core, the type who just want to smack behind their heads for being so mischievous. And nowadays, what with Hyuk the usual butt of his band mates' jokes, the usual fool of hidden cams, and Kangin's current favorite victim, I feel like Junsu is constantly making fun of him. Lol, there was this episode on EHB where Hyuk kept getting his shorts pulled down, and one time it was Donghae, of all people who did it, and in my mind, I like to think that Junsu saw that episode, called Hyuk up and really laughed at him saying "DUDE THAT WAS THE SORT OF SHIT WE USED TO PULL ON DONGHAE." Hyukjae, his life is so hard. :D

It might be just me thinking about things too much (probably is, too), but I've always figured Hyuksu must be two of Eeteuk's favorite dongsaeng. Fits though, with this story and the way Eeteuk talks about.interacts with them when DBSK guests on Sukira and/or Junsu makes a (surprise) phone call. More about the radio bff-ery later, but basically Eeteuk is the one who's always OH THESE TWO, THEY REALLY LOVE EACH OTHER SO MUCH THEY'RE JUST NUTSOS WHO LOVE BICKERING.

I'm sure Hyuk must have felt even just the slightest resentment when Junsu debuted earlier than he did, I mean it's kind of impossible not to be even a little frustrated about that. But Hyuk is a good man, so I will always believe when he says that he was happy for his best friend when it happened. The story about the two of them bursting into tears on the phone, after Junsu first appeared on TV is one of the most awww-worthy stories ever, and I can imagine Hyuk working so hard just so he can reach Junsu again, and because Junsu said he wanted to see Hyuk debut as soon as possible. And it really is kind of sad, you know, how they're both so busy now that they barely see each other face to face, when they used to always be together, Hyukjae&Junsu, attached at the hip. But it's also kind of awesome how far they've gone in the industry, and yet they still remain best friends.

I know this is insanely lengthy so I understand if you'd just skim through everything else and just skip to the why. To be honest, Hyuksu can be better understood by reading everything else above, because I doubt anything I say here will not even compare as to the reality of exactly why. But if I have to, it's simple, really. Hyukjae and Junsu have been together for most of their lives, they grew up together, played together, studied together, reached for the same dreams together. In front of each other they do nothing but mouth off, and argue, and bicker, but in reality (and it has more or less been stated a lot of times by the two of them, and by people close to them), they mean the world to each other. They've been through tough shit together (Junsu's voice refusing to break; Junsu debuting ahead of Hyukjae), but they didn't let these things pull them apart. Not to mention it's pretty apparent that whenever they can spend time together? They make the best out of it. They're also very extremely proud of each other's accomplishments even though the only way they'd admit it in public is in very roundabout ways. Junsu can't shut up about Hyukjae, Hyukjae can't shut up about Junsu. If any RPS is canon, it's them.
I've always told everyone this, I don't even necessarily 'ship them in a romantic, slashy way. The point has always been, they're best friends, always have been, always will be, and there's not way anyone is getting in between that. That's just the way they are.
