For the next few days, people Nino didn't even know continued congratulating him throughout school. He couldn't find the energy to care.

Nino escaped to the roof, sure he would be able to find peace and quiet there. Much to his dislike, however, he felt a blast of icy wind once outside. He wrapped his arms around himself tightly, shivering slightly.

“Nino-chan?”

Nino turned around to face Aiba's worried expression.

“It's freezing!” Aiba frowned and grabbed Nino's arm, trying to pull the reluctant student back inside. “You don't even have your jacket on...”

“Aiba!” Nino whined. “I can handle the cold,” he said stubbornly.

“No, you can't! Look at you, you're skinny as a stick. I'm worried you'll get blown away or something..”

Nino rolled his eyes in annoyance, but he let it go. It was too much energy arguing against Aiba, anyway.

Aiba continued dragging Nino along with him, and he sat Nino down in their next classroom, empty at that time.

“What's the deal? With you and Ohno.”

Nino frowned slightly at the way Aiba sounded actually serious for once. “He finally listened to me and left me alone, that's it.”

“That can't be!” Aiba slammed his hand on the desk, making Nino jump slightly.

“I'm not lying,” Nino muttered. And he didn't find the need to; Ohno was gone. Out of his life- it deserved a party, he thought.

“But Oh-chan likes you, he wouldn't give up this far-”

“Wouldn't he?” Nino cut Aiba off sharply, annoyed though he wasn't sure why. “He did give up. If you like someone, you want them to be happy, don't you? He finally realized that I'd be happy without his harassment.”

Aiba frowned sadly, feeling like crying for his friend but also slapping him. “So you're happy.”

Nino froze, stunned. He was happy, wasn't he..? Aiba was about to say something, when Nino opened his mouth.

“I'm not,” he said quietly. Nino already admitted it before, didn't he? He told Ohno himself, that he didn't want to lose the older student.

Aiba smiled sympathetically. “Then, Ninomiya, what are you doing?”

“Being stupid as usual, I guess?” Nino shrugged halfheartedly, but Aiba grinned at the small hint of a smile Nino bore.

--

“He's not depressed,” Aiba told Sho, “but he's bothered.”

Sho nodded understandingly. “Ohno seems to be the same. I mean, he won't tell me anything and continues to act normal, but I can tell...He's not happy.”

Aiba sighed softly, looking out the window and seeing two birds playing with each other. Why couldn't Ohno and Nino be like that? But then Aiba grinned. “This is fun, at least. Even if we're not the main characters in this love story, we get to meddle in their business!”

Sho chuckled, shaking his head. “You're right. I have a feeling Ohno has something in mind, but letting them alone for now won't get anything done soon.”

--

The girls were shrieking and giggling over some boy again, but that only increased Nino's bad mood. Nino really wondered how girls got so happy when seeing someone they liked. It definitely didn't feel that way for Nino.

“What was his name again?”

“Ohno- Ohno Satoshi..”

“Ehh, that's a third year, right? You're aiming that high?”

Nino pouted. So Ohno was popular even with first years. Well, he was too. Girls from all grades had been surrounding him ever since his piano performance- though it didn't really make him feel special.

“I heard he's already dating a first year, though...”

Nino blinked. That rumor's still going around? He sighed. At least no one suspected him, and well, they shouldn't. Nino stood up and approached the girls, recognizing one of them as the girl who offered her umbrella to him.

“What's so good about Oh-chan?” Nino asked, ignoring the slight giggles at his appearance.

“Are you two good friends?” The girl supposedly interested in Ohno beamed. “The way he's quiet makes him seem mysterious, but he gets excited over things like bread. Isn't that cute? And he is soo artistic,” she sighed dreamily. Nino refrained from rolling his eyes, wondering if all girls were like this. He, on the other hand, didn't give a damn about people he didn't know.

Unfortunately, Ohno seems to think otherwise, Nino thought, going up the stairs to his next class. Lost in his thoughts, Nino clumsily missed a step, and quickly grabbed onto the railing. Though he saved himself from falling, Nino groaned looking at all of his fallen books. He started to gather them, just glad that no one was around to see it.

When he heard footsteps approaching at the top of the stairs, Nino glanced up. It was Ohno.

Nino panicked. He grabbed the nearest book and practically flew back down the stairs, taking another route to his classroom.

Once safely inside his class, Nino sat down and ignored Jun's curious face. He cursed leaving some of his books there, which meant Ohno would most likely pick them up and he'd have to get them back somehow, and he cursed for being a coward.

“Language, Nino.” Jun sat down in front of Nino.

“Who the hell cares how I talk? I can fucking swear however fucking much I fucking wan-” Nino stopped shortly once he realized the teacher was staring at him disapprovingly.

“Fucking with Ohno?” Jun smiled, amused. Nino glared at him, and turned his attention to the teacher who was starting the lesson.

--

Sho blinked at the books passed over to him, the name 'Ninomiya Kazunari' written on them. “What?” He looked at Ohno questioningly.

“Give them to Nino,” Ohno said.

“Um. Why do you have them?”

“Found them,” Ohno shrugged. “Anyway, give them to Nino for me.”

Sho frowned slightly. “Give them to him yourself, you know where he'd be more than I do.”

Ohno sighed softly, rubbing the back of his neck. “He wouldn't want that.” Sho rolled his eyes and shoved the books back into Ohno's hand.

“Wait for him. If he comes to you, it'll mean something.” Sho smiled a little and left, hoping Ohno and Nino got together soon. He couldn't live with an Ohno he didn't understand.

--

The umbrella girl- wait, no, her name was Miko- was pretty cute. Nino should be interested in cute girls at that age, right? But Nino only felt awkward, having been called out by the girl. He was sure a confession was coming; she was blushing and fidgeting nervously.

Nino had gotten confessions before, sure, and he'd dated one girl. That didn't last very long, though. She said he didn't pay enough attention to her, and something about playing games too much. (Ever since then, Nino thought girls were damn selfish.)

Speaking of confessions, Ohno had done that with him, hadn't he? Ohno never seemed nervous though, and Nino wondered how Ohno managed to keep his cool so much. Nino wondered how it would be to date a boy. Ohno didn't seem the type to want Nino's attention all the time- rather he'd be the one showering Nino with attention. Too much attention, Nino thought with dismay.

Ohno knew what Nino was like. He'd said it not too long ago, and he'd said he liked Nino like that, though Nino didn't understand why.

“So, um, truthfully you really do seem like my ideal guy, and I- ...I would like to go out with you.”

Nino blinked, realizing his thoughts were only about Ohno even though he was getting a confession from someone else. He felt bad, but he knew he had to refuse from the start.

Nino had someone else he liked.

“I'm sorry,” Nino said quietly, smiling gently. “I'm really not like what you'd imagine.”

He left the girl, after making sure she wouldn't cry or something (she probably would afterward though. Girls were such crybabies.)

“Nino!” Aiba ran up to him. “Where were you? Hurry, hurry!”

“What?” Nino raised his eyebrows.

“Oh, uh, a teacher called for you! He's in room 1-3.” Aiba pushed Nino in the direction of the room.

“Why..?” Nino frowned as Aiba quickly left him. He hadn't even ever been in that room.

Nino found it and entered, but the room was empty. Nino sighed and sat down at a desk, figuring he should wait for anything for a couple of minutes. He just hoped Aiba hadn't given him the wrong room number, or something.

The door opened, and Nino looked up. His eyes widened as Ohno walked in.

“Nino?” Ohno blinked at him.

“What are you doing here?” Nino asked quickly.

“I heard a teacher called me here.”

“Damn it, we were set up,” Nino muttered. His heart started to beat quicker the closer Ohno got to him, but the older student only put some books on the desk. “Wha?”

“You lost them?” Ohno smiled. Nino smiled softly in return, taking the books. Nino stood up to face Ohno.

“Ohno-san, you're an idiot, you know that?”

“If you say so,” Ohno replied, a hint of question.

“Hey..” Nino swallowed, keeping his eyes fixed onto Ohno's as best he could. “Did you come to my performance?”

Ohno didn't answer right away, then, “Of course I did. I promised I would, didn't I?”

Nino blushed softly and nodded. His heart was thumping loudly against his chest, but he didn't let nervousness show. Nino had to do this, and not act like a girl.

“You said I'm stubborn, but you're selfish,” Nino said grumpily. “I know your real objective, leaving me like that.”

Ohno smirked. Nino felt vaguely aware of the way he actually kind of missed it.

“Fine,” Nino whispered, glancing down at Ohno's hands that held his. He looked back into Ohno's eyes. “I don't like you,” Nino said nervously, “but I might be in love with you.”

In a split-second decision, Nino kissed Ohno's lips slowly, savoring the moment. He pulled back, his face flushed.

“Go out with me?” Ohno asked, his dark brown eyes and smile gentle.

“Yeah,” Nino said quietly, ducking his head shyly and resting it on Ohno's chest.

He wondered if doing this meant entering hell, but Nino thought he might be able to endure it.
