Back!
Well, it's been about two years or something since I last posted and recently I thought I would switch back to Lj for a bit, to keep in touch with people when I make the big move next week rather than making little snippety posts through facebook which has, lets face it, so many annoying tics and quirks. But I like the pictures. -
Spinach
Have successfully grown and eaten own spinach! Eight healthy leafy green plants growing in the garden now. We snip the larger leaves every couple of days or so, wash them lots and then eat them. They taste good - very outdoorsy. Reckon they will continue to grow for a couple of months, maybe more ( Read more... ) -
bricks and things
The garden, that used to be a field of waist-high nettles and broken glass has slowly been transforming. We now have a miniature veggie plot with some spinach and rocket sprouting pretty well. Eventually we hope to get potatoes, carrots, courgettes, salad leaves of all sorts and herbs too and onions maybe in the ground over the next year. Perhaps ( Read more... ) -

hey- I wondered if anyone had any packing boxes kicking around, or something similar? I'm moving on sunday and there might be a problem with the boxes I ordered :(
If anyone has just one or two, that could help! -
Crime and Punishment
Should I stop reading "crime and punishment"?
This question is really directed at anyone who has finished it and can convince me it is worth while. I have read anna karenina and a few other 19th century novels, so I wasn't expecting the kind of clipped spare prose you get in a lot of modern novels. jackalope
Jack caught his first mouse! I am so chuffed. I heard a scuffling in the hall and went out to have a look. The hall was dark and I thought it was just a leaf [as usual- very proud of his leaf capture skills is jack]. But no, it was a little wriggly mouse. Oscars!
As I'll be watching the Oscars this year I thought it would be more entertaining to have seen as many films as possible that were up for trophies. So I have added four films to Lovefilm [3.10 to yuma, atonement, ratatouille and sicko] made a mental note to watch "away from her" and "surfs up" on filmflex, and hunted down what times oscar nominies ( Read more... ) -
