I finally watched the copy of Purple Rain that I got from Netflix.

Highly recommended. Thoughts:

• Morris Day was Awesome as the bad guy. I always liked the whole "lead singer has a butler" gimmick. Did The Time and Prince actually feud in real life? I mean, they are practically the same band, with less sex and frills.

I'll echo what pretty much everybody else has said and say that it was a lot like the first one, but way better. I think the scene with Pai Mei must be the best training sequence since Drunken Master. I wish it had been longer... I love me a good training sequence.

I have decided that my playoff team is the Philadelphia Flyers. Why, you ask? One reason: the line of Jeremy Roenick, Tony Amonte, and Alex Zhamnov. Rosenblum in the Tribune referred to this line as "Blackhawk Down". Heh.

Oooh, one other thing about my trip to Florida: 20 hours travelling over one weekend means lots of reading time. I finished *both* Signal to Noise and Broken Angels.
