I took this picture a few miles from my house the other day. A couple of things caught my eye ..

1 - I need to slow down and appreciate the season a little more
2 - There is no vine growing from the Honeysuckle to the ground.
3 - ( Looks like the Sign is Wearing a Hat! )

I bought some soil to move some seedlings into bigger pots as well as make a pretty hanging basket of fuscias. I realized the soil was a lot darker and denser than what I was used to.

Turns out I bought top soil instead of potting soil.
Is this bad? Should I repot everything?

Any one have any ideas as to what might be wrong with my eggplant? After looking disgustingly healthy the leaves are turning yellow and then brown and I rather suspect it might be dying. It's been really dry here so I've been watering it daily (same as everything else in the garden) ... I'm wondering if I've been underwatering, overwatering, or if ( Read more... )

I have an orb weaver residing in a pot of gaura that I have yet to plant. I noticed her there last week and she's already twice as large this week as she was when I first saw her. I took a picture earlier, but I'll have to try again because I got too close and it was blurred ( Read more... )

I have a Fothergilla, a Magnolia, and a Fragrant Viburnum in my front yard here in zone 5.  It's a small yard, but none of them are adjacent to each other.  However, all of them are a bit chlorotic... especially the Fothergilla.  We haven't had too much rain, so it's unlikely to be that.  I suspect that the soil is too alkali - this tends to be a ( Read more... )

We've been harvesting zucchini for several weeks now as well as the sweet yellow banana peppers. Here and there we've had a Purple Beauty pepper and a Lavender Lady pepper as well as the grape tomatoes. This week, though, the garden is burgeoning.
