My parrot was in a terrible mood this morning. Didn't want to be skriched, didn't want to be picked up, didn't want me in the room. For a while we weren’t sure whether we were going to get this house or not. I may have written about the Quest pipe issue earlier but the long and short of it is 5 insurance companies declined to insure it until the Quest pipe was replaced. We went over and did the final walk-through today. The sellers did a great job of cleaning up. I was very skeptical about whether they could get all the stuff out without leaving a lot of trash but they did. I like it even more now. Closing is tomorrow at 9:30 ( Read more... )

It really looks like we're going to buy this house. Closing is set for 9:30 this Friday and appears to be on track. Here's a picture of the outside and one of the living room. I'm so excited! This will be the nicest place I've ever lived.

It looks like the house will actually close on the 28th. After the insurance company declined to cover us, our agent called her attorney to see what options we had. I didn’t want to write a lot about the house until it was a done deal. We didn’t tell most of our friends and family either. We've had the inspection done by an inspector our lender recommended. A broken seal on a double pane window is the most serious thing he found. The seller's husband is being a little snarky about replacing it but his realtor told our realtor he'd get over it and do it. We have a house under contract. If all goes well we'll close on 1/28. I'm afraid to write more for fear I'll jinx it. Hell, I'm afraid to believe it for fear I'll jinx it but if it doesn't fall apart at the last minute, I'll tell you all about it with pictures and all. Cross your fingers for me.
