I must admit, I love Shakespeare!!! He always amazes me in how he can write something that is outside the limits of time.... It is always interesting to read poetry from thousands of years ago, or even just a few hundred years ago. I especially enjoyed reading Sappho's poetry, as it is nice to see a woman's perspective and thoughts from so long ago. I really enjoyed the poem Ducks. I especially liked the last stanza. When I have time (say.....next millennium...) over Christmas, i hope to paint something and incorporate the last stanza into the painting. I discovered something this week. My view and enjoyment of poetry largely depends on my mood. I am going through a lot of frustrations right now, and frankly, this weekend i've disliked the thought of the nonsense poetry. I really enjoy "Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats" there is something in the humour of it that appeals both to adults and children. It is fun and lighthearted, intelligent and doesn't require a lot of thought in order to understand it. I enjoy prose poetry. I (i already wrote all this and lost it, so now i'm frustrated and kinda paraphrasing it because the passion of what i was saying is gone) dislike the over flowery words it sometimes has. I read some of McGonnagall's works online with my roommate. We ended up giving up on one of the poems because it was just so long and boring. The Tay Bridge poem was awful especially in the repetitive parts. I really disliked the Hallmark poem. In general, when I read a poem on a card from someone. I usualy read the first line, if I'm in a particularly sappy mood, maybe the first stanza, then i skip right to the last line, because I can't take anymore.
