Les had to call the plumber back again, as water was still trickling. The plumber had already put in an urgent request to council for them to replace the stop cock on the street frontage. Yesterday we went on to Daylight Saving Time. Since I wake up so early anyway it doesn't make much difference to me, but I still resent the imposition of an artificial time. It had been my intention to go into town again yesterday but I discovered that I was feeling totally wiped out, so had a quiet day at home, and spent most of it in my dressing gown. A waste really, as it was a lovely sunny day, and I didn't even venture outside until about 4pm ( Read more... ) -

We had a lovely visit from Les' daughter Megan last week, which we both thoroughly enjoyed. I get on so well with her that I missed her after she had returned home. She has an interest in Astrology, and I have software for calculating charts, so I was able to send her on her way with charts for all her family, although stupidly I didn't print one ( Read more... ) -
Smokey has been in hospital....
Had an exhausting couple of days conveying Smokey to the vet, and then bringing him home again the following day. He had lost his dewclaw and an abcess had developed. He was admitted to the vet hospital in the next suburb, and had surgery the same day, stayed in overnight on an intravenous drip, and was then discharged about midday. I've been spending as much time as I can manage working in the garden. Now that the ivy has been removed many other weeds have taken the opportunity to germinate, and I want to eliminate them before they run to seed if at all possible. Kitchen floor is done!!
Last week the kitchen floor was resurfaced and then the floor covering was laid. The transformation was amazing. For a few days we were stunned by the WOW factor, and it is still an enormous pleasure to go in there. I've been sick with a virus, so I'm glad I had the flu shot earlier in the year, as it was more of an inconvenience than full on ill. ( Read more... ) -
Spring!! Finally arrived, sort of...
We have had two wonderful fine and warm days. I stopped being stiff and was able to move normally, which was energising, and as a result I achieved a much heavier work load without effort. Apart from catching up on the laundry, and cleaning the house, I also managed to do a lot of weeding. The garden up at the top at the back has been cleared of ( Read more... ) -

Last Saturday was 15C so I was able to get out into the garden and weed one rose bed, then spread sheep manure around all the roses. Since then it has rained, gently but steadily at first, then heavily, but now after 5 days it is clearing, thank goodness.
