Chapter 19 “Good morning, Shin Soohyun-ssi, Kevin Woo Sunghyun-ssi.” Dongho greeted, taking off a side of his bag and placing it nicely on the chair. “A pleasure to be able to meet you both. I’m Shin Dongho, a second year in high school.”
Soohyun looked up curiously, hearing the surname which was exactly like his. “Wow, same family name!”
“Not exactly.” Dongho corrected, facial expression slightly stiff. “We started from different clans.”
Soohyun instantly kept quiet, wary of Dongho. Maybe he was a nerd like Kevin, except not that successful.
“I heard you’re good at History and Korean.” Kevin smiled politely, contrary to Soohyun’s attitude. He then gestured for the newcomer to take a seat beside him, where Kibum usually sat. “And that you research a lot on family names.”
“Yeah.” Dongho smiled, somehow liking Kevin instantly. Maybe it’s because the people from his family line are nice. “My other subjects are a mess though…”
“That’s fine.” Soohyun interjected into the casual conversation, grinning brightly. “Kevin would take care of that.”
“Really?” Dongho’s eyes shined, causing Soohyun to jerk back, flustered by the sudden change. “It’d be great if I can score well in everything, my ancestors would be proud!”
Kevin scratched his head awkwardly, still unsure of his abilities as a student buddy (more of a teacher, actually). “I’d try my best, and that I am sure of.”
Affectionately, the younger hugged Kevin immediately with a toothy grin. “Thank you, Kevin-hyung~!”

Walking past Kibum’s classes was normal since a lot of his classes were in the middle of the hallways. Easily remembering schedules as well, Kevin was especially mindful and also especially uncomfortable every time he passes one of those classes he knew Kibum was in right at that moment. The kiss would resurface in his mind, and that lingering contact that kept haunting him would cause him to unconsciously bite his lips.
Quickly wiping his lips once more, he was still angry to find out that Alexander had been the one who told everyone of his observation, and angry that Kibum didn’t even ask if he was the one who said it out. Was he such a person in Kibum’s eyes, to tell the whole student body about something that didn’t concern grades?
Kibum saw a shadow disappear while in class, and a part of him was so sure it was Kevin.
The rumours died soon enough, when the school had something else to bother about. He probably wasn’t used to the spotlight before, and maybe that’s why he impulsively decided to…to kiss Kevin.
As much as he doesn’t want to admit it, he regretted leaving Kevin on the floor, weakly crying.
The whimpers he heard with each step he took, getting further and further away that day.
“Kibum, do you know the answer?” The teacher asked him expectantly, cutting his train of thoughts and Kibum realised he hadn’t been listening in class.
“I-I’m sorry.” Kibum apologised, guiltily shaking his head.

“You know…We’re actually the same age.” Kevin said randomly one day, as he watched Dongho concentrate on the coordinates of the points on the graph. Dongho started drawing more points probably to help him visualise the question better, while Kevin checked if he was on the right track.
“I know.” Dongho shrugged, somehow easily knowing what Kevin was referring to, much to Soohyun’s confusion. (Kevin pointed at Soohyun’s question five and glared at him to concentrate.) The youngest of the three was multi-tasking between chatting with Kevin and doing the Mathematics exercise Kevin made for him. “But since you’re studying what Soohyun-hyung is studying, it’s easier for me to call you both hyung. Unless you don’t like it.”
“It’s cute.” Kevin shook his head, showing that he didn’t mind. “But do you so casually call people hyung? I mean, I haven’t called someone unrelated by blood hyung yet, since I haven’t met anyone close enough for that.”
“Well, actually, no. I just liked you immediately and Soohyun-hyung’s family line is connected to mine.” Dongho shrugged, smiling while presenting to Kevin his answers.
“If Dongho is already calling us that way, you should really start addressing me as your hyung.” Soohyun said, rubbing his chin.
“I’m sort of the same age as you. Besides, we’re really not that close.” Kevin stuck out a tongue, shrugging. “Good job, Dongho! It’s very well done. I’ll give you three more and we’ll move on to the next topic.”
The two couldn’t help but coo at Dongho’s toothy smile.

“Hyung, I want ice-cream.” Dongho bounced towards Soohyun, before glaring at Eli who was nearby, since they had soccer practice earlier. “Hey, Elison Kim, you have not finished telling me your family tree!”
Soohyun looked confusedly at both Eli and Dongho, eyes questioning. “You both know each other?”
“He’s a meanie! He called me a middle school kid!” Dongho pouted, instantly complaining. “And he wouldn’t tell me his family tree.”
Although he knew Eli way longer than he knew Dongho, Soohyun couldn’t help but look disapprovingly at his soccer mate. “Now, why would you do that?”
“I-I…I told him everything I knew…” Eli scratched his head, having nothing to say against his captain.
“There must be more!” Dongho insisted.
Soohyun looked at Eli who was helplessly pleading for help with his eyes, before dismissing him with a nod. Patting Dongho’s head like an older brother, he widened his eyes when the younger looked up to him with innocent, bright eyes.
“Can I have ice-cream, please?” Dongho asked, pointing at the ice-cream flavour on the menu list. “Soohyun-hyung~?”
Soohyun smiled, nodding once more. He then bought another cone of ice-cream for himself just so Dongho needn’t eat the ice-cream alone. Dongho’s mouth formed an “O” shape, seemingly amazed by this small feat.
“Hm?” Soohyun asked the unasked question, as though they knew each other for years.
Dongho shook his head with a toothy smile, sneakily noting down on his notebook that Shin Soohyun is a very nice man.
