18Sep
Max: Karofsky's finally back.
19Sep
tvline: Storyline coming up that makes Chris love Kurt and Blaine even more - it's a story that never gets told from a POV that never gets told. (Not his controversial pitch.) They may have some conflict but they've got each other and that's all they need.
19Sep
E!: Dave returns in a way that's shocking. We see what has and what will become of him.
21Sep

29Sep
Lea: Going out-of-town.
29Sep
ONTD: GAY BAR! Yes, Karofsky is at the gay bar. Sebastian Warbler is there, too. It's drag queen night. Kurt & Blaine get in w/ fake IDs. Blaine gets drunk, tries to "get with" Kurt in the car, Kurt doesn't want to do it, and so Blaine leaves. I don't have additional details about Karofsky, other than that he is present. Sorry, Karofsky fans. :( Blaine is going to sing "Uptown Girl" at Dalton w/ the Warblers when he visits to invite them to attend McKinley's West Side Story. I also learned that Brittany IS still running for class president; there was no reference made to that in 3x04 that I caught; sorry to confuse by stating that she wasn't running! She still is, against Kurt and Rachel.
29Sep
Finchel_LeaCory: There are more than three Finchel scenes. #TheFirstTime
29Sep
Finchel_LeaCory: Finchel filming at a park.
Yesterday they filmed at a "House Set" Steamy Finchel scene in a parking lot. 29Sep
Adam: Darren has been in the studio quite a bit lately.
29Sep
Chris: Thoughts of Kurt punching his competition! :))
Or whipping out the ninjutsu skills!29Sep
Grant: So sore that he may as well have been shot out of a cannon.
29Sep
StevenSkyler: Great day with my fellow Warblers on Glee.
30Sep
Ausiello: The Nov. 8 episode puts Rachel and Kurt - and their respective relationships with Finn and Blaine - front and center. In a big, big way. How big we talking? Well, according to a Glee insider, Episode 5 finds the Wicked BFFs both losing their virginity. Appropriately, the title of the ep is “The First Time.”
30Sep
Fan reports: Intense Klaine makeout
scene and fight in the parking lot of Scandals. (Ngggh.)
Hysterical pillow-porn reenactment!02Oct

GleeBTS: Chris is on Dalton set. (Corrected later.)
03Oct
Fan report: Location mgr said Chris was on Dalton set early, before everyone else. (Disproven later.)
03Oct
Fan report: Dalton logo on the entrance.
03Oct
IWYW: Uptown Girl is sung by the Warblers, but neither Blaine nor Sebastian sing lead. Directed by Bradley Buecker. Chris probably wasn't on the set after all.
04Oct
Lea: Lots of cool stuff today, first scene with Naya.
04Oct
Lea: She and Naya are killing it.
04Oct
Lea: Singing now with the amazing @DarrenCriss :) 2nd scene of the day.. Two more to go!!
04Oct
GleeBTS: Chris definitely wasn't on the Dalton set.
04Oct
Ausiello: Clarifies for anyone without common sense that Kurt loses his virginity with Blaine. And then clarifies for anyone without a calendar that there won't be a Halloween episode because the hiatus isn't over until November.
05Oct
gleezone: The Changs back in 3.05.
05Oct
Alex: Doing a bunch of cast vocals today. Fun song for a rainy day in LA.
05Oct
tvline: Eric Bruskotter cast for major recurring role of Johnny, a football recruiter who comes scouting for talent at McKinley, but finds he can’t take his eyes off the team’s gruff but big-hearted coach.
06Oct
gleebts: They're shooting opening night of WSS next Tuesday. Originally they were supposed to shoot it on Friday, but they had an Insurance Day yesterday due to Lea being sick. That pushed everything back!
07Oct
Lea: @DarrenCriss just finished listening to our duet for episode 5! I love it!! Such a pleasure singing with you:)
10Oct
ONTD: They're rehearsing "America" today! It's Santana, Puck, Tina and Rory.

10Oct
GLEEfrance: (Translated) Mike's parents are present and Karofsky which will make its comeback in high school. SONGS Uptown Girl (Billy Joel) - The Warblers, Unknown (???) Song - Rachel & Santana, Unknown Song (West Side Story) - Rachel & Blaine
10Oct
Fan report: Pic of a huge tub of condoms. "This was taken on the prop truck the day Lea and Cory were filming on location in Hancock Park."
13Oct
Entertainment Inquirer: Lea announced that the musical will be mounted in the fifth episode. “That’s when the performance is and we do perform at least five songs from the show,” she disclosed. (Ugh. Five.)
13Oct
Lea: Finishing episode 5 tomorrow! Im feelin a little West Side Story... :)
13Oct
IWYW: Re: the “Uptown Girl” performance- here’s a little context: Blaine is walking through Dalton when he stumbles on the Warblers serenading Dalton’s French teacher. He ends up joining in on the performance. Again, it’s not Blaine or Sebastian singing the song. I do think it’s Curt Mega but I can’t confirm that for sure.
14Oct
Entertainment Inquirer: Jane: Sue's platform changes every episode to suit her needs. Right now, it’s anti-arts and pro-math and -science. Something is going to knock her, and we’re going to see a little more vulnerability. (The promised love interest?) Chris: They have a great storyline coming up. Another character comes in the picture named Sebastian (Grant Gustin) who wants to steal Blaine away from Kurt. When I first read it, I was a little disappointed because I was like, ‘Why does nobody love me?’ But, you get to see Kurt in a very territorial light, which is a lot of fun for me. I’m just happy that there’s finally some conflict with them, because they’ve been in a puppy-dog love state for a while.
14Oct
Grant: At work for a little bit. Back to work guys! T. Grant Gustin
singing off ;) Unsourced tumblr: Warblers were on set, probably for WSS audience shots.)
17Oct
Iqbal: Unfortunately, so far they r not using Max that much this season. I think he is in only one episode so far
18Oct
THR: Lea: We obviously make up because the fifth episode is called ‘The First Time,’ I love the choice that they made with how it sort of happens. But everything is really a lesson for Rachel to be learned; she sort of makes a decision but always learns a lesson. Meanwhile, Michele notes that Rachel’s friendship with Kurt may not be as quickly repaired since he had a greater purpose in running for student council beyond bolstering his transcripts. “It’s slightly mended, as best it could be.”
24Oct
E!: "He was sweating so much," Lea told me. "I was so grossed out!" What got Cory so hot and bothered? They had to shoot the sex scenes in front of a fireplace!
24Oct
Kristin: Tina Turner is around for an important physical moment between Blaine (Darren Criss) and Kurt (Chris Colfer).
25Oct
IMDB: Jazzmun...Drag Queen Tina Turner
26Oct
Billboard: (On WSS) Tina is in the show believe it or not! She's in the ensemble, she plays Consuela in the "America" number.
26Oct
ONTD:Tonight
A Boy Like That - Santana / Rachel
One Hand, One Heart - Blaine / Rachel
26Oct
HamptonRoads: Sebastian, a popular athlete, sets out to come between couple Kurt and Blaine. The episode will air Nov. 8. “I’m making moves in my first episode to split them up,” Gustin said. The appearance of Sebastian, Gustin said, will force Kurt and Blaine to decide whether they are meant for each other. The show’s producers aren’t giving any clues as to what will happen. “Maybe I will split them up, and maybe I won’t,” Gustin said. “No one knows yet. I don’t even know.” (So far is only in 3.05. Cast is filming 3.07 currently, but Warblers will likely be back for Sectionals in 3.08.)
28Oct
Ausiello: Blaine meets Sebastian, who is trouble with a capital “T” that rhymes with “P” that stands for potboiler. A Glee insider takes it a step further, declaring Sebastian “our villain this season.”
28Oct
Billboard: Sebastian's very confident and comfortable with who he is and what he wants. He's a guys-guy, just a dude who happens to be gay. He's a lacrosse player, he's popular. He's after Blaine, obviously, and he's also trying to take the place that Blaine had as the leader of the Warblers. He's been referred to as a villain, which I guess is true in the sense that he's going to get what he wants and he doesn't care who he steps on along the way, but he does so with a smile on his face. I shouldn't say too much, but I will say that it's a pretty big character reveal. I'd be surprised if you didn't see too much more of Sebastian. But to be honest I do not know how much I'll be around. It's set up that it could go either way. And that's all I can say about it.
28Oct
ONTD/Alleged crew member's FB: We made Jazzmun dance with Karofsky.
ONTD/Jazzmun FB Fanpage: Corroborates Jazzmun's Glee role.
28Oct
final81: Blaine joining in with the Warblers (looks like Curt Mega is singing lead).
28Oct
Grant: Q: Does Sebastian's family name begin with S? A: Very interesting guess :)
Surname is a surprise. (A WMHS relative or connection, giving him reason to be away from Dalton?)
30Oct
leakynews: At least one character turns up with a hickey. (Kurt being territorial?!) Episode 3×05 sees the introduction of two new characters, including Sebastian, a 17 year-old with a killer voice and an even better smile. Reports are that Sebastian will drive a wedge between Kurt and and Blaine and will be featured as a major recurring role through the completion of the season.
31Oct
Billboard: Grant's first day on set was with just Chris & Darren. (Not at Dalton?!) Grant: "I do get to sing a little bit, a featured part, but not my own song." Also, "I think it's also important because it's introducing a love triangle for Blaine and Kurt. It's going to show these two aren't together because they're the only two gay characters."
31Oct
Fan report: Saw Blaine's bedroom set (packed up).
31Oct
Kristin: We can't tell you much about the raciness factor, but we can confirm the safety factor! Because when you have sex you can pregnant and die. Yes, our first-timers will be using protection. High five for condoms, y'all!
02Nov
Dot: Is in next 4 episodes. (3.05-3.08)
03Nov
Ausiello: Really sweet Rachel/Finn scene at top of the hour.
Five minutes into GLEE's "First Time" and this is already leaps and bounds better than "Pot O' Gold."
We learn very quickly that Blaine is also a virgin.
Wow, Sebastian doesn't waste ANY time.
Sebastian is interrogating Blaine. Scene intercut with Rachel and Santana performing "A Boy Like That." Awesome.
Who initiates Finchel sex?! Finn or Rachel? I'm only 20 minutes in but I'm getting a mutual vibe.
Does Kurt get really jealous? He's hanging on to Blaine VERY tightly. That's all i'll say.
Do Blaine and Sebastian know each other? No. they just met.
Santana on sex with Finn: "It was like being smothered by a sweaty, out of breath sack of potatoes that somebody soaked in body spray."
Is Sebastian connected to anyone already on the show? Karofsky sighting at *** ***!
How is Dave? Really sweet scene between him and Kurt. Karofsky much more interesting when he's not slamming kids into lockers.
GLEE cast should do a national tour of WEST SIDE STORY this summer. They're KILLIN' it
Six minutes left in the episode and no one has done the deed yet! They better hurry!
What's happening with Klaine? nice callback to blaine-rachel's drunk makeout session
Are Klaine fine at the end of the ep? Big Klaine kiss!
Everyone's having sex now. And by everyone I mean Finchel/Klaine. Not gonna tweet during the act out of respect for the couples.
Are the Finchel/Klaine sex scenes overlapping??? Yes. Episode. Very tasteful and romantic. You guys will be very pleased. More scoop to come...
Apology from Blaine after he tries to get it on with Kurt when he's drunk? Yes. And a heartfelt one at that.
Please, tell us if Kurt' shirtless when they're having sex ?? Please !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) Why is everyone asking me this question?!?
answer the question, dude. Answer the question and all the frustrated fans will leave you alone. I honestly don't recall. I'll rewatch screener in AM and let u all know.
OK. Just rewatched. He had his shirt on. 03Nov
Kristin:Holy Glee Sex Riot! You Won't Believe the Hotness (and Sweetness) of Next Week's "First Time"
A warning if you are a Glee fan who identifies yourself as a lover of "Finchel" (Finn and Rachel) or "Klaine" (Kurt and Blaine). The next episode is going to take your heart, put it into a vice grip and-kablooey!-blow it up into a million tiny little pieces. You have been warned.
I just watched Glee's "sexual awakening"-themed episode "First Time," which airs this coming Tuesday on Fox, and there are things you must know. So contact your cardiologist to make sure your heart can stand it, then check out this scoop...
What to Expect From Glee's "First Time"
FINCHEL HOTNESS: (And yes, it deserves ALL CAPS!) If you haven't really been a fan of the Finn and Rachel dynamic in the past, you might just start rethinking things. Lea Michele and Cory Monteith's chemistry has never been better than in this episode, which, yes, centers around the couple weighing whether they want to sleep together for the first time. It is some of these actors' best work yet.
KLAINE HOTNESS: Read the entire paragraph above and sub in the names "Darren Criss" and "Chris Colfer." Done and done.
Romance, Too! Though sex is certainly the word of the day, the episode gives both couples more depth of emotion than we've seen so far this season, and a few lines will take your breath away if you are a fan.
The Warblers Are Back: And subsequently, the sun never stops shining and angels everywhere are getting their wings. We missed you and your cute uniforms, boys!
Sebastian Has Come: Yep, the guy (Grant Gustin) they cast to supposedly come between Blaine and Kurt has made his arrival and he is anything but subtle in his advances toward Blaine. Well, unless you consider calling someone "sex on a stick" totally benign small talk?
Coach Bieste Gets Hers, Too: Cooter the football recruiter (Eric Bruskotter) has come to town to scout talent for Ohio State, and serves up Dot Jones with some great material. (You may tear up a little.) He is her new love interest and, as you may recall, Rachel and Blaine aren't the school's only virgins.
Note to Wemma Fans: Not much to report for you from this episode, sorry! But we'll get more Wemma goodness soon.
A New Nemesis for Sue: One who is awesome. And deserves more screentime.
Finn Heartbreak: Can't say what kind, but it's Cory's meatiest scene so far this season!
Some of the Best Lines…Can You Guess Who Says 'Em?
"You're super hot."
"It was like being smothered by a sack of potatoes that someone covered in body spray."
"I'm what they call a bear cub."
"Hey, Kurt, let's just do it."
"You take my breath away."
"I'm going to give you something that no one else is going to get."
"He didn't want me."

Ausiello:The standout episode isn’t all about getting it on. It’s also about…
1. Talking about getting it on. During a West Side Story rehearsal, director Artie tells Rachel and Blaine that they lack passion as Maria and Tony, then guesses that maybe they’ve never, you know, done it. “How do you expect to convey the human experience to an audience when you haven’t even opened yourself up to one of humanity’s most basic and primal needs?” he asks. Fun fact: We also learn Rachel and Kurt aren’t the only McKinley-ites in the Virgin Club: Coach Bieste and Blaine are also waiting for the right guy. Speaking of which…
2. Bieste and her new football recruiter boyfriend (played by Eric Bruskotter). They’re super-sweet together. So super-sweet, in fact, that it’s going to really suck when she finds out about this.
3. The arrival of Sebastian. No sooner does Grant Gustin’s gay Warbler debut than he sets his sights on Blaine. And what he wants, I suspect he’ll get: He’s got charisma to spare and tons of chemistry with Darren Criss. Fun fact: He’s not the only obstacle to Klaine sex - the other is Kurt’s wardrobe. Specifically, “All of his layers.”
4. The opening night of West Side Story. I did mention that that was coming up, right? Right. So it won’t be a huge surprise that much of the hour’s play list comes from the musical. My fave: Lea Michele and Naya Rivera rendition of “A Boy Like That,” which is cleverly intercut with Sebastian doing some hardcore flirting with Blaine.
5. Karofsky’s return. When Sebastian invites Kurt and Blaine out to local gay haunt Scandal, Kurt runs into his old nemesis at the bar. Apparently, transferring to a new school has done wonders for the bully’s disposition. He’s mellowed out considerably and coming to grips with his sexuality. It’s my favorite scene of the episode and should fire up those Kurt-Karofsky ‘shippers out there (and I know you’re out there).
6. Santana’s putdown. The snarkiest Cheerio gets the episode’s best line when she urges Rachel not to do the deed with Finn because, well, he’s a lousy lay. “Finn is terrible in bed. It was like being smothered by a sweaty, out of breath sack of potatoes that somebody soaked in body spray.” Fun fact: Brittany called Artie by the wrong name four times when he lost her virginity to her.
7. Kurt’s bucket list. No. 87 on it? “To become CEO of Logo.”
8. Finchel and Klaine sex. Ultimately, both couples do the deed, and it’s romantic, tasteful and all very satisfying. (For the kissing-conscious Klaine ’shippers, there’s one significant smooch, but it does not take place during The Act.) Finchelcourse, meanwhile, comes on the heels Finn receiving some bad news, but I would hardly call it pity sex. Again, you will be pleased. Maybe not as pleased as Finn. But pleased.
03Nov
EW: The couples losing their virginity? Finn and Rachel and…Kurt and Blaine! Yep, the couple - who was featured on the cover of EW’s Gay Teens on TV issue - finally decide to take the next step in their relationship. It’s all handled very delicately and is incredibly moving. I can’t think of another network series that’s taken a teenage gay relationship so far or been so progressive. The moment is instigated when another teen, Warbler member Sebastian (Grant Gustin), aggressively pursues Blaine. The trio actually have a very amusing triple date to West Lima’s only gay bar Scandals and run into none other than Karofsky (Max Adler). Look for a great moment between Karofsky and Kurt.
As for what else fans can expect:
• Beiste gets a new love interest played by Eric Bruskotter.
• Santana, Puck, Brittany, Quinn and Mike do an amazing version of West Side Story‘s “America.”
• Mike’s parents resurface, and his father isn’t exactly thrilled at his son pursuing the arts.
• Finn gets some bad news about his post-high school plans.
• Artie discovers a new passion.
• The Warblers do a great cover of Billy Joel’s “Uptown Girl”

gmmrtv: I guess this kind of goes without saying, given what’s happening in the episode, but you have never see Kurt and Blaine as coupley (is that a word) as you will in this episode. A nice reminder that these boys have been in a committed relationship for almost a year. And that Sebastian…wowza! He’s pretty…pretty dangerous!
Breathtaking and beautiful. The final shots were gorgeous. I’m emotionally exhausted in the best possible way.
04Nov
tvgmdamian: whoa...now THAT's a Kurt i can respect. a little "Sally Field in Steel Magnolias" hysterical, but still great Klaine scene.
Oh no...now Kurt is in a poncho shawl. i kid you not.
ok, Kurt wears a belted sweater dress in next week's #Glee. I just can't...
Kurt-Dave scene is a sweet, brief scene that is kind of funny, but also feels like closure.
gmmrtv:There’s been a lot (and I mean a LOT) of build up within the GLEE fandom about this episode, and that’s always dangerous because reality (even fake reality) rarely ever lives up to expectations. But I will say that as a fellow GLEEk who was has been waiting for this ‘Election Day’ episode like the rest of you, I was left satisfied and smiling (yes, I know, that’s what she said…and Finn said and Blaine said…)
Before we get going, I must share the same disclaimer I share before all my GLEE teaser posts…
Dear fellow die-hard GLEEks, in the words of Quinn Fabray - this post is all about the teasin’ and not necessarily the pleasin’. While I hope to share a few tidbits that will get you more excited about next week’s episode I’m not about spoiling major plot points for you.
If you are the type of fan that is going to be annoyed with me for not spilling everything there is to know then it’s probably best that you NOT read this and just wait to watch the episode yourself on Tuesday.
On the other hand, if you are a fan that has a wavering line when it comes to what constitutes a spoiler, then you might want to stay away too as it’s not my intention to ruin the episode in any capacity for you.
Now that we have that settled, let’s get down to business.
I’m going to be writing up a full post-episode review on Tuesday, but I really need to tell you that I thought this was a wonderful episode of GLEE. So needed after last week’s…well, whatever the hell last week was. The music, the acting, the plot and the direction of this episode made it, in my opinion, one of the best episodes of GLEE to date. But more of that one Tuesday, now it’s time to get you all excited (pun intended) with some teasers!
If you care enough to read a teaser post about GLEE then I’m going to go out on a limb and assume you know the basic storyline of “The First Time”, but if for some reason you don’t, here’s what you need to know: Both Rachel & Finn and Kurt & Blaine contemplate taking their respective relationships to the next level, but there’s a whole lot of ground to cover between talking about sex and actually doing it. Both of McKinley’s power couples explore that middle ground in a wonderfully realistic way.
So many adorable Kurt and Blaine moments to choose from, but I happen to be partial to their first scene together. A fun and playful scene where they take the sage old advice of Salt & Peppa.
The one misstep the episode makes in with Artie. It’s one thing to perhaps question the sexual enlightenment of your friends, but when you start asking those same questions to teachers at your school, well I think it’s crossing a bit of a line.
Continuity of storyline…on GLEE? Yup. The return of Mike Chang’s parents. Ok, it totally didn’t fit into the episode and you just know more of these scenes were left on the cutting room floor, but I’ll take what I can get.
Everything ‘West Side Story’ was fantastic (with the exception of Puck’s hair…seriously, it’s a mohwak, how did they manage to make it look bad?). There was a part of me that thought the West Side Storyline (you see what I did there?) was going to play out for at least half the season. So to have it done and over by episode five bummed me out a bit. But what we were treated to was really wonderful. The music. The staging. I would have loved to be in the audience to see the whole McKinley High production. (Especially if you let me sit next to new Warbler, Sebastian.)
Please let there be more Santana/Rachel duets in the future. Me gusta!
I got lots of emails, tweets and Tumblr questions about this new, handsome Warbler. He is a dastardly bloke with fantastic taste in men. I dare say Blaine Anderson might have been a bit overwhelmed by the blatant attention of Sebastian. I’m not 100% convinced he hated Sebastian’s eagerness. Hell, I’m not even 50% convinced. But don’t worry your Klaine loving hearts, the young man makes it quite clear where his heart is. Although I knew Sebastian was going to be introduced in this episode, I didn’t expect him to get as much screen time as he did. That’s not a complaint. You’ve seen Grant Gustin, right?
Blaine returns to Dalton Academy for the first time since his transfer, and I must say, watching him walk down that famous spiral staircase made me a bit nostalgic. While I’m happy that Blaine decided to be with Kurt at McKinley, he and I both missed those boys in the blazers. Big moment for Warbler Nick, played by Curt Mega, who took over for lead vocals from Blaine. And cheers to Warbler Jeff (Riker Lynch) for continuing Blaine’s legacy of dancing on furniture. All that was missing was some papers thrown randomly in the air and it would have been a true Warbler performance. Oh Yeah!
If we hadn’t already been spoiled by the confirmation that Rachel and Finn would have had sex by the end of the episode, I might have though RIB played a little bait and switch on us. Let’s just say their first attempt at turning up the romance was squashed by the deadly combination of Rachel’s self absorption and her big mouth.
It was good to see Dave Karofsky back , but don’t expect to see him Bully Whipping around the halls of McKinley any time soon. Dave decided to transfer out for his senior year to avoid any potential rumors. Max Adler and Chris Colfer shared a nice scene that had me wishing there was an opportunity to further explore a Kurtofsky (is that the right name? I can’t keep up with you kids) friendship. Who knows. Maybe the writers will make it happen.
There were a few moments that had me reaching for the tissues. Yes, I got a bit emotional, but I wasn’t the only one. Blaine struggled a bit in one scene, and Coach Beiste let the tears flow more than once. I must say that Dot Marie Jones is fantastic in this episode and in this role in general. She took what could have been a one-sided joke of a character and made her one of the most interesting and special characters on the show. Next to Burt, she’s my favorite adult on GLEE.
Finn really showed his romantic side. He had big plans that Rachel all but squashed. Oh Rachel.
On Kurt Hummel’s bucket list: ‘Become CEO of Logo’; ‘Arrive at school in a hot air balloon’; ‘Get into Julliard’; ‘Attend a circuit party on Fire Island’ (Note: I had to look that one up on Wikipedia, and I must say…go Kurt!). And yeah, our boy had a fantasy involving a Twilight star. Any guesses?
In case there was ever a doubt of my love and devotion to all things Klaine, please know that I was glued to Twitter and Tumblr “that night” like the rest of you. But it’s only fair to warn you that ALL that was allegedly filmed in the car didn’t necessarily make it into the episode. I don’t know if I will ever pray hard for deleted scenes in my life.
Loved the addition of Eric Bruskotter as the Ohio State recruiter who is more interested in Coach Bieste than her football players. Looking forward to seeing him around more. (And a total 80′s throwback moment for me. Bruskotter will always be Big John from ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’!)

GF Screener:I realize I'm kind of late to the party and that people have been discussing this episode to death for the past three days, but I have now watched the screener as well and am happy to answer any questions people have. Because there's so much going on, it's much more straight-forward than some of the previous Glee episodes, but I'm sure there's some stuff people still want to know.
Overall, this ranks as the best Glee episode since season one, without question. While some of the other good post-season one episodes have either married themselves to drama or comedy, this one really excels at both--Finn and Puck, in particular, have some great one-liners.
As has been the case recently, it's also the supporting/side characters who truly stand out. While Rachel, Finn, Blaine and Kurt all have their best episode in a while, the reality is that those characters have been so over-exposed and misdirected that it's often hard to care about what happens to them. But Chris Colfer, Lea Michele and Cory Monteith all really step up in this one, and while Darren Criss has the weakest performance of the four, it's not really his fault--it's just the nature of how Blaine fits into the plots.
But, ultimately, it's characters like Artie, Beiste and Mike who again steal the show here. I'm so much more interested in their arcs because we DON'T know too much about them, and so we're getting to rediscover characters the way we did people like Kurt and Rachel in season one. And it's awesome. Dot Jones is giving one of the best performances on TV right now, and it's a shame she didn't enter Glee until the writing quality had fallen by the wayside.
Musically, this episode is good in some respects--the music of West Side Story is awesome--but it's obviously thin (really just one song) if you like Glee's covers of contemporary/mainstream songs.
So..your questions? And, note that I can probably be more spoiler-y than usual, since very little about this episode has been hidden either by FOX or other critics.

How is the America performance?
It's really, really good, and to me, the only number from the song that gets the proper treatment by Glee. I had been really looking forward to seeing most of the good West Side Story songs performed by the cast, so that aspect was mostly disappointing, but America got a fair treatment.
Only thing that annoys me is the fake Puerto Rican accents. It made for a funny joke with Rory, but other than that, it seemed kind of tacky and unnecessary.

Thanks for the review My question: If I remember correctly, we were told that the "A boy like that/I have a love" song is intercut with a Blaine/Sebastian scene. Could you maybe clarify a little how that is done, like how much of the performance or the scene we see, how much dialogue there's actually between Blaine and Sebastian, is it only during "A boy like that" or does it go on during "I have a love"....because, I'm listening to the song right now and I can't really imagine how that'd work at all.
During the conversation, Sebastian asks Blaine why he left, and as Blaine thinks about the question, A Boy Like That starts. The conversation with the two of them cuts in and out once (for Blaine to explain his answer). After that, the intercut scenes are silent (you see, but don't hear, the two talking). Rachel ends on "You should know better," and then we see/hear Blaine & Sebastian talking again, where Sebastian asks if it would be possible for them to meet again.
Sebastian gets up to leave for lax practice, Blaine agrees that they can talk again, and then seems confused but sort of flattered as the scene fades to black. (this moron)

Do you end the episode feeling like you want to punch Finn and Rachel or hug them?
By the END, they both come off favorably.
QUOTE (beekowski @ Nov 5 2011, 12:38 PM)
I heard that scenes from the musical are used in a parallel montage with the Finchel and Klaine sex at the end of the episode. Is that correct? Do we know what happens earlier in terms of chronology, the performance or the sex?
Just one scene. Everything West Side Story is super-abridged, but as the others are all on-stage killing it, Rachel and Blaine are backstage, nervous that they won't be able to deliver--especially since they didn't fulfill their commitment to having sex prior to the musical in order to learn what sexual passion really feels like.
Rachel, drawing partly on advice she got from Tina earlier in the episode (when Tina explained her first time), says something that motivates both herself and Blaine, and as they go out, that's the last "real time" footage we have of West Side Story.
As the two couples are lying together, we get intercut flashback footage of their One Hand, One Heart performance. We see Kurt looking on from the side of the stage and Finn looking on from the audience, and both are visibly touched by their significant others' performances.
The message is that it didn't require sexual experience to properly play Tony and Maria; it was about knowing what it's like to have a soulmate and be in love.

EW posted a photo of Dianna, Harry, and Heather performing a musical number which they said was America but that was a mistake so could you tell me what Quinn, Mike, and Brittany are performing?
Do we find out how the others get cast in the musical like Puck, Rory, and Tina or do we just see them already rehearsing the musical? What is Quinn and Brittany's involvement in the musical, who do they play?
How much screentime does Quinn get?
Can you include the photo? As I wrote in another thread, the Jets (and all three of them are affiliated with the Jets) do get involved in America, thanks to the risky artistic vision of Artie.
But they're not prominently involved--they basically just have a brief "response" to the Sharks.
No, it's just assumed that they all auditioned at some point.
Quinn gets some dialogue in a scene with Rachel's "support group" and is then shown as part of the musical. Nothing major for her this week.

Ohh I'm so glad you are answering questions again! I'm really excited about this episode so I can't help but ask more than 1 question if you don't mind
Do you thought Sebastian and Blaine had chemistry and that Blaine had some kind of interest on him? Did we get to see any storyline from Blaine's POV or it's all about Kurt? Do you liked Klaine on this episode?
Thanks in advance!
Thanks to Blaine's facials, you're led to believe there is some attraction/curiosity there, and Sebastian obviously is into Blaine. But, perhaps due to bad acting, I actually initially read Sebastian as some sort of creep/stalker (rather than a sexed-up, anti-Kurt), so I guess that tells you all you need to know about the chemistry.
In terms of future interest, not sure if that's to be explored at all, but Blaine's pretty definitive by the end that he has no interest in Sebastian and only cares about Kurt.
It's actually mostly from Blaine's perspective, not Kurt's. I just felt Chris gives the stronger acting performance.
QUOTE (Earwen @ Nov 5 2011, 12:54 PM)
Thanks a lot!
Now I have two follow-up questions, though, sorry ;D 1) Does that mean "I have a love" isn't in the episode or does the performance still continue after the Blaine/Sebastian scene is over? and 2) what is "why did he leave" refering to, from where did he leave?
On the screener, it definitely ends with the A Boy Like That portion. You do hear the music continue as Blaine facially-reacts (can't wait for the gifs) to his encounter with Sebastian, but you don't audibly hear vocals or see Rachel and Santana performing.
I Have a Love is used later as a backdrop for Tina talking about her first time, during which Rachel also thinks about her feelings for Finn.
Sorry, should have clarified, "why did you leave" is about leaving Dalton.
QUOTE (Jugz da' Clown @ Nov 5 2011, 01:10 PM)
I hate how they are doing this to what I think is the best song of the ep. How much does this Blaine & Sebastian crap detract from Rachel & Santana's performance?
I mean, it does and it doesn't, but the bigger issue, as I wrote before, is that you really don't ever see these songs in a proper context. It's footage of the rehearsal, so I think that already takes away some of the magic.
QUOTE (Sara2009 @ Nov 5 2011, 01:11 PM)
Could you tell us about the Will/Finn scene(where Finn discusses having sex with Rachel) that was shown in the promo? Does Will do anything cringey?
Link? That scene doesn't ring a bell--I don't recall there being much with Will other than him sitting in the audience for the show.
QUOTE (meeshyglee @ Nov 5 2011, 01:14 PM)
Can you give some details on Finn explaining his heartbreak, is it a beautiful scene?! Does he say beautiful things to Rachel? What does Rachel do to ruin the first attemp at sex? Thanks!!!
Also, anything with I have a love song? Anything with Finn and Rachel during her singing that song?
If you're referring to Finn's issue at the end...it's a great scene, but it's more about Finn showing his own vulnerability and Rachel being there to comfort him, a rare change of pace from the norm.
She ruins the first time because she's honest about why she wants to sleep with Finn.
To clarify on I Have a Love--it comes up later in the episode and is used as a backdrop for Tina describing the emotions of her first time
QUOTE (Sara2009 @ Nov 5 2011, 01:18 PM)
Here
Is that definitely supposed to be from this episode? I recognize all the other scenes, but that first one almost feels like something from a previous episode that was used as a setup in the promo.
If it was filmed for this, it might have been cut cause I don't recall that happening (it definitely isn't on the screener). It's Rachel, not Finn, who first makes the interest in having sex clear, and Finn seeks out advice from Puck.
QUOTE (Sara2009 @ Nov 5 2011, 01:16 PM)
Do Will/Emma share a sweet look during "One Hand One Heart?"
It's possible but the real emphasis is on the two kid couples.

Your thoughts on the Kurt/Karofsky scene?
Thanks for answering questions
I had mixed feelings. I was very intrigued by the Karofsky storyline last season (one of the few bright spots), and I feel like this minimized it too much. It was a nice development in terms of Karofsky showing that he's taking steps towards being openly gay, but it also felt kind of unsatisfactory in that I actually cared about seeing his development, rather than just being told about it.
By explaining why he transferred and why Scandals is the only place where he presents himself as gay, it seemingly nixed the idea we're going to get too much development (if any) with him down the road. A shame.
But it was still nice to see him and nice to see a pleasant interaction with him and Kurt.
QUOTE (dawning @ Nov 5 2011, 01:25 PM)
Thanks so much for answering questions! Can you tell us anything about Kurt and Blaine's first scene together? Do they basically discuss or plan to have sex in advance of all the stuff with Sebastian? If not, is there a conversation where their decision is explored, and when is it?
They loosely talk about sex in their first scene together, but the main "thesis" is that they're content waiting.
But between Sebastian & the play making Blaine curious AND Kurt kind of getting jealous about Sebastian, both start to move more in the direction of wanting to have sex.
Blaine does something to emotionally hurt Kurt at one point (Klainers don't worry--it's not quite what you might think it could be), but Kurt's touched by Blaine's performance in the musical, and he actually initiates the decision to have sex.
QUOTE (GleekPL @ Nov 5 2011, 01:31 PM)
Does either Kurt or Blaine say anything about love? Do they say the word at least?
I rewatched some of the key scenes and didn't hear it, so if it is in this episode, it isn't treated as a big moment. But I think it's a given at this point anyway.
QUOTE (kurtastic @ Nov 5 2011, 01:32 PM)
Can you give us a little more as to what Blaine does that shows his interest is 100% into Kurt? It sounds like Blaine actually shows interest (romantic/sexual?) in your post to sinnfb. It isn't even left open ended whatsoever? Thanks for answering, btw!
They have a heart-to-heart towards the end of the episode and he declares Sebastian means nothing to him. He also draws upon his emotional attraction to Kurt to do a good job as Tony.
QUOTE (verity @ Nov 5 2011, 01:33 PM)
How much screentime does Finn's own story get in the episode? Damian Holbrook of TV Guide said Cory did some very "nice work" in this episode but does he stand out and does his story get some focus? Or does it get buried in all the Klaine sex? Thanks so much for answering the questions!
Finn's non-sex storyline doesn't really get much time, but the scenes that do come about are powerful
QUOTE (shortfish4 @ Nov 5 2011, 01:37 PM)
Thank you for answering questions! Do Kurt and Blaine actually have a proper talk/conversation to clear up the mess that happened during the car scene?
They address it, but both take some blame and it's forgiven by the end of the episode.
QUOTE (beekowski @ Nov 5 2011, 01:41 PM)
My concern about this episode for some while has been that too much stuff stuff is forced into it, that it is too cramped. We get the sex storyline, the musical rehearsals and performance, the Warblers comeback and the introduction of Sebastian, Finn's plans for the future and the football recruiter becoming Beiste's love interest -- did I miss anything? What's your take on this? Is there a natural, smooth progression or does it feel overpaced and forced? If you could choose, which stuff would you have cut or kept for another episode?
There's also a great scene with Artie and a development with Mike and his parents. Usually, I'd agree with you, but the cramming somehow works here. They make every scene count. The only negative, as I've said, is that I was hoping they'd dedicate an entire episode just to the West Side Story performance.

Ausiello: Chris wanted Kurt in a tank top, but had to wear a tee. This won't be the last time Sebastian tries to steal Blaine.
Apparently Ausiello has a grudge against Darren/Blaine.

E!: Q: What are you hoping fans will take away from the episode, especially teenagers that are gay themselves? Chris: Thank you for asking me that. I really hope that if Kurt and Blaine do anything for society or the world or anything like that, I really just hope it kind of sets the standard for gay kids. I don't mean to upset anyone by saying this, but it is just kind of a known fact that a lot of gay kids are very promiscuous and non-exclusive with each other when they have relationships, which is really sad. But I think with Kurt and Blaine, I would hope would set an example of what something should be and could be. You know, two people finding each other and really loving each other and wanting to give the world to each other.
