Anime News Network is adding a video player and dedicated video section to their website. Good for them, and good for the troubled American anime industry, as this video channel will be ad-supported to generate revenue for the content providers (unlike fansub distributing sites like Crunchyroll, which I won't even give the courtesy of linking to).

WII FIT will kick your ass.

One thing I've learned in doing my Adobe Illustrator final project is: it's not the Pen Tool that's evil. Rather, the Gradient Mesh is truly the mesh that weaves into the Devil's loincloth.

EVIL.

Adding to the shock of Tim Russert's death, now we have George Carlin. I first discovered the guy in the movie Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure way back in the late '80s as the time-traveling sage "Rufus." One of the happy, coincidental benefits of "hypermiling" (see here) is that you drive pretty slowly through residential neighborhoods. It's by design; you don't take off fast, and as soon as you see a stop sign (or a traffic light turning red), you put it in neutral and coast. I'm torn.

I have fond memories of going to see the original version of this film at the Star John R theatre way back in 1995 when it had its limited run. It was the first anime I'd ever seen in the theatres (alas, I was too young and unaware when the seminal--and vastly overrated--Akira had its epoch-making run) and man, did it look great.
