Rehearsals were going smoothly and the show was only a few hours away. They had one last run-through positions and then it was off to dressing rooms for hair and makeup.

After they finished, Lea ran to Dianna’s dressing room before it was her turn to get ready. “Hey,” Lea said as she closed the door behind her. Dianna was sitting on her chair with a magazine, “Hi,” she didn’t even look up.

“So, listen, I was thinking,” Lea pointed to the paper in her hand, “For this song, I was thinking we do something different.” Dianna peered up from the magazine and then looked back down and continued to read. She let Lea ramble on and on. She couldn’t pay attention to anything. Her mind went back to the dream. The flashes of their naked bodies entangled on the bed. Lea’s screams and moans echoed in Dianna’s head.

“Excuse me?” Lea interrupted, startling Dianna. “I don’t know what the hell I did to piss you off, but the least you could do is tell me. Or maybe you can tell me to fuck off, or-- I don’t know, instead of having me stand here and talk to you about something important just to have you read a magazine and freaking ignore me.”

Lea’s hands were shaking with fury. Dianna stood up and put the magazine on the chair. She walked right past Lea, knocking her shoulder and staring into her eyes and continued over to the door and locked it. Lea’s anger turned to confusion. She motioned to speak, but Dianna was already walking up to Lea. Dianna raised her finger to Lea’s lips and said, “just be quiet for two seconds.” Bewildered by Dianna’s shady and bad attitude, she began to open her mouth to go off on her, but Dianna took a hold of Lea’s face.

“I don’t--”

“Shh.”

“But--”

“Damn it, Lea Michele Sarfati, can you stop talking for the first time in your life?”

Lea’s anxiety was building up high. She had so much to say and so many questions to ask that the words weren’t making sense anymore. Her hands were still shaking, but no longer with rage but with nerves. Dianna still had a hold of Lea’s face and Dianna was just looking.

“Why would I dream about us?” Dianna thought aloud. It was as if Lea wasn’t there; It was as if Dianna was trying to look through Lea and find something, some type of answer.

“I-I really don’t know what you are trying to accomplish. More importantly, can you just tell me what the dream was abo--”

Dianna’s lips were on hers so fast, Lea had no idea how or when it happened. Her eyes widened as Dianna grabbed her face again and pulled her closer. Lea didn’t know where to put her hands. She didn’t know what to think. Dianna’s hands ran down Lea’s arms lightly and Lea’s eyes rolled back into her head. What the fuck is going on? Lea thought, This isn’t a dream. Lea started to walk forward, causing Dianna to walk back closer to the door.

Once pinned to the door, Lea let her tongue graze Dianna’s lips. As if Lea’s tongue was a key, Dianna’s lips parted and let her own touch Lea’s. The contact was enough to send Dianna flying. She pulled back, panting. Her head leaned back against the door and Lea was eye level with Dianna’s long neck. Lea bit her lip. It’s as if she had this urge, this craving she couldn’t resist. She didn’t second guess. Catching Dianna off guard, Lea’s lips were running up her neck. Dianna opened her mouth and gasped slowly. Lea’s hand caressed Dianna’s back lightly until her fingers were tangled in Dianna’s hair and pulled her face to match their eyes.

Lea’s eyes were dark. Dianna stared at one and then the other. Nerves shot up her stomach. She had never seen a more intense look in Lea’s eyes. Nothing was said. Lea tilted her head to the side and her lips emerged Dianna’s ear. Her hot breath swamped the right side of Dianna’s face and her chest began heaving. Lea’s tongue peeked out and lifted Dianna’s earlobe into her mouth. Dianna moaned softly and began to pull away, but Lea gripped the hair on Dianna’s head to keep her in place. Her teeth clamped onto her earlobe and her lips enveloped them. Dianna’s knees buckled again. Almost falling over, Lea remembered this morning. Dianna had seen her in a bra and she kept falling over at the sight of her. It all clicked. The dream wasn’t just about us.. was it? Lea pulled back a bit and chuckled. Dianna’s eyes were shut tight and her mouth was opened. Lea’s lips stroked Dianna’s and she let out a deep sigh, still her eyes were shut.

“Tell me.” Lea said. “What was that dream about?”

Dianna was lost in emotion and had forgotten completely about the dream. “D-dream? Wha-what dream?” Her eyes still shut.

Lea turned Dianna’s head with her hand in her hair as if she were a ventriloquist. Her dark lips hovered over Dianna’s earlobe again, “Don’t play dumb, Di.” Dianna lowered her head and her teeth scraped Lea’s shoulder. Moans escaped Lea’s lips as it was her turn for her head to fall back and gasp. Riding her teeth up Lea’s neck, Dianna flipped Lea against the door and slammed her hips onto hers. Lea hid her grunt in the crevice of Dianna’s neck and clawed her back. This mixture of pleasure and pain was almost too much to bear. It had been so long since anyone had been with Lea this way and she had never been with a woman before. Wait a second! Lea shoved Dianna off her.  Both the girls’ breathing was out of control. Dianna put both hands on the door, each on either side of the very overwhelmed brunette. Dianna shut her eyes. It looked as if they had ran a marathon. It felt as if they had ran a marathon. Lea lifted her body off the door; Dianna’s forehead on Lea’s. She could still feel Dianna’s hips on hers. Feebly, she ducked underneath Dianna’s arm and grabbed her piece of paper.

Dianna turned around and watched Lea. In silence, they stared at each other for a minute. There were too many thoughts to put together. Dianna walked up to Lea, but she refused to look up at Dianna. Dianna took her bent index finger and lifted Lea’s chin up to match their eyes. Lea looked to the side and her chin remained on Dianna’s finger.

“Lea,” Dianna whispered.

Lea’s eyes moved back to Dianna. Dianna leaned in and kissed her softly on the lips, then ran kisses down her jaw to Lea’s earlobe and whispered, “This isn’t over.”

Her tongue trailed up her earlobe slowly then wrapping her lips around and tugged it. Lea’s hands gripped Dianna’s shoulder and gasped slowly.

Lea stood still, entranced. She didn’t even notice Dianna had walked away and was now on her chair with her magazine in hand, as if none of this had just happened. Lea stood in the same place as she did when the whole conversation started, with the same piece of paper held in the same hand she had before. Lea contemplated whether everything had been a daydream or some sort, but Dianna’s red and swollen lips noted differently. Without looking up, Dianna said, “You can leave now. We have to get ready for the show.”

Lea didn’t take offense to Dianna’s cold attitude. She understood completely. Barely able to even walk forward, given the situation between her legs, she hobbled to the door, exiting the room. The last words Dianna had whispered in Lea’s ear echoed in her mind.

“This isn’t over."
