Title: Life and Breath
Author: Pink Rabbit Productions
Fandom: Guiding Light
Pairing: Olivia/Natalia
Part: 32
Date: 2 September, 2010
Rating: Personally, I'd call it an R, but some might consider it NC-17 at some point.
Disclaimer: The characters and situations belong to other folks far wealthier, more important (or at least with better lawyers), and hopefully more charitable and kinder than I. They include, but are not necessarily limited to CBS, Proctor and Gamble, and Telenext. The actual arrangement of words, however, remains my own as do any original characters. Meanwhile, there is likely to be all female romantic and sexual activity ahead, so if this is likely to get you, me, or anybody else arrested should you take a gander, please move along. Also, if you find that sort of thing offensive, you really probably shouldn't hang around anyplace I'm posting. Just sayin'....
Archiving: The Pink Rabbit Consortium
Spoilers: Some early scenes definitely, plus anything through the spa trip is fair game.
Timeline: Unlike some folks, I don't have an exact scene where this one takes off. However, it's definitely set after the spa trip, but before Rafe's release from the halfway house. Oh, and it's after Natalia admits she's in love with Olivia to Father Ray.

"We completely refurbished the primary convention facilities just two years ago," Olivia explained as she led Holly through the employee access corridors and into the Beacon's main ballroom. "And I've been talking to a local architect...looking at the possibility of expanding, but it would have to be in keeping with the hotel's historic quality." As she spoke, she brushed a light hand along the small of Natalia's lower back, the tiny bit of contact enough to send a prickle of awareness through both of them.
The older woman nodded, eyeballing the lavish interior. Her head tipped back and she noted the runner tracks on the ceiling, subtly hidden among the graceful, historic pillasters.
Noting her perusal, Olivia made a sweeping gesture. "We can divide the ballroom into four smaller rooms, each of which has their own service access. Plus we have four more convention spaces, two of which can be subdivided into two rooms." She was about to continue the rambling tour-guide's speech when her cell phone dinged for attention. "Do you mind if I..."
"Go on," Holly said quickly, a wry smile twisting her lips.
Stepping away, Olivia answered, her voice pitched too low to be heard, while the other two women waited politely.
Natalia offered a small smile that was equal parts shyness and embarrassment and got a wry grin in return which only deepened the red in already pink cheeks. She was just praying her lover's call would be over quickly when Olivia turned back. Natalia knew almost instantly that any reprieve was going to be short lived when she saw the look directed her way.
"That was security," Olivia quickly explained. "We had a break in...a customer's room." She saw Natalia tense, her expression worried and quickly added, "It doesn't look like anything valuable was stolen, but I need to go help smooth some ruffled feathers."
Holly had to fight a laugh when the hard-as-nails woman she'd known directed a small, apologetic shrug and puppy-dog look at Natalia.
The younger woman visibly melted.
"Would you mind finishing the tour?" Olivia asked so sweetly she could have given diabetes to a Care Bear.
"Olivia..." Natalia exhaled, sounding doubtful.
"You know this hotel as well as I do...maybe better," Olivia assured her lover, her smile encouraging. "You can do this." She stroked a gently rounded cheek with the pad of her thumb. "I have total faith in you."
A dark eyebrow arched and brown eyes narrowed, but Natalia's smile was soft and she instinctively angled toward her lover even as she hrmphed. "You are such a con artist."
"But you love me anyway," Olivia whispered, her own body tilting to bring them closer, the move so automatic, she was barely aware of it.
"Yeah," Natalia admitted, her smile shifting ever so slightly, just enough to take on a decidedly sensual cast. "I do."
The moment was brief. They didn't even touch beyond the drifting brush of Olivia's fingers on Natalia's cheek, but there was an intensity that was impossible to ignore.
And then Olivia was gone, leaving Natalia with the sense that she'd taken most of the oxygen in the room with her. She suddenly realized she was just standing there, brain frozen, hormones buzzing, body apparently no longer under her control. A sharp shake to throw off the daze did little to ease the symptoms, but did allow her to clear her head enough to direct a smoothed-out look Holly's way.
The blush returned when she got a look at the wry, knowing look directed her way by the older woman. Natalia raised a hand, indicating the door to the public areas, started to speak, only to find her voice missing. A breath to steady herself, then she started again. "Shall we?" Another breath. "We can start with the boutique and hair salon. Olivia recently invested in upgrading the-"
"Natalia," Holly interrupted before the younger woman could get another word out. "I have the utmost confidence in Olivia's taste in boutiques and salons...really." She held up a hand in a halting motion when she saw Natalia draw breath to speak. "Also restaurants, bars, cafés, pool service, room service...and pretty much anything else hotel related one can think of." Whatever Olivia's shortcomings, she was an expert in customer service.
"Oh," Natalia exhaled uncertainly. She was startled a beat later as Holly stepped alongside her and slipped an arm through hers.
"To be perfectly honest," Holly continued cheerfully, her voice taking on a conspiratorial note, "I'm much more curious about her taste in women."
"Oh," Natalia repeated, drawing the sound out this time. She offered a weak smile and a tiny, nervous laugh as she peered at the other woman.
Holly just grinned back as she applied just enough pressure to pull the younger woman along with her. "Besides," she continued cheerfully. "You really look like you could use a cup of coffee." She peered at Natalia, eyeing her from head to toe. "You didn't get much sleep last night, did you?"
A deep blush suffusing her cheeks, Natalia fought an embarrassed whimper. "I-I-I..." she muttered, stumbling over the single syllable.
Holly's grin broadened. Oh, this was going to be fun. "Come along, Ms. Rivera...the coffee awaits..."
Wishing fervently that Olivia had let her handle the break-in and taken command of the tour instead, Natalia seriously wondered what the hell Olivia had gotten her into.
