First, I'll write a little bit of what Rajira! is, what I'm intending to do, the sources and any considerations to take into account I find useful in order not to repeat the same thing in all posts.
What is Rajira!?
-
NHK Rajira! Saturday it's a live radio program hosted by Hey! Say! JUMP's members Yaotome Hikaru and Inoo Kei, which airs Saturdays from 8:05 to 9:00 pm (Japan time) The whole show lasts 3 hours and there are other jhonnies in the two other time slots.
-
NHK Rajira! Saturday Blog is the official blog with a short summary of the weekly radio program.
What's the program about?
The program is basically about them reading emails from their listeners, commenting about them or giving advice. There's often a certain topic determined and they ask the audience to write them about it one week in advance. At the beginning, middle and end they read emails about previous programs or questions coming from their fans.
In the middle, they have this corner which is called I'll seduce you tonight, which is rather funny to listen, it's basically them seducing inanimate objects competing against each other, the objects are shown to them just at the moment, so it's mainly improvised. Just after they finish, the audience vote through the Internet to determine a winner.
Sometimes they have guests, such as artists, other members, or comedians.
I especially enjoy their pace, they are not particularly hyped and they usually make a lot of mistakes in reading and/or pronunciation, lol, but I think it's part of their charm.
Where to listen?
You'll be able to find the program or most of it on YouTube after a couple of days or hours, but if you click the link of the page in Japanese from the second part that I'll provide in every post, at the end of the post you'll see the show uploaded to Dailymotion. This is the
account, and there you'll find not only Rajira!'s but every HSJ's member's radio programs.
What will be translated?
My first intention is to translate the official blog, but I'll be listening to the entire show, so I'll also be translating some of the highlights on each program (or the things I'm able to catch, I'm quite obsessive). So, you'll notice that I divided the posts in two parts:
- first the translation of the blog (rather short)
- second the translation of the highlights of the program (more detailed)
What will be included in the second part?
In the second part, I'll be including:
- the translation of the tweets from
NHK official Twitter account, since I can't get them live, I usually get them from
here.
- this Japanese
page's summary translation, there are many fans that upload summaries on the show, but I picked this one particularly because I liked it, if later I use another one, I'll add it here as well.
- I'll also include my personal impressions (usually a bit of fangirling) and all that I'm able to catch from their talk. Since there's no transcription of the whole program this will be based on my ear and what I was able to catch. I'll mark my personal inputs with a different color or/and brackets or any other way.
And everything will be in a chronological order.
- I don't write the pen-names or greetings for each email unless there's something remarkable about it.
How accurate is this?
Well, I'll try my best LOL, I'm really not so good by ear, but I listen really careful before writing down anything, so if it's a blur, probably I won't write about that part word by word but give you a general idea or I'll point out that I didn't get that part haha.
About the translations in which I have written Japanese text, I guess it will be a bit more accurate, either way, sorry about any mistake, surely is unintentional and due to my lack of knowledge, I hope this improves with time. :D
Plus, English is not my first language, so sometimes I struggle with expressions and collocations, sorry and of course I'll try to type correctly, but surely you'll find some mistakes, gomen!
Anything else?
How convenient, this question, ha, just a couple of final details,
- In the first part I'll be including pics from the official blog, which is obviously not mine, but it's really nice that they put the actual pic of the object of seduction, so I'll add it. I'll also add some links if there's something that needs to be explained, usually to Wikipedia if possible. You won't be seeing any pics of the guys on the blog, because of the rules of their company.
- In the second part, I'll be including more details and general descriptions, also links and pics related to what they are talking about, if said pics exist or I'm able to find them.
- About the time that this will take me, I'll try to post each week until Thursday. It is impossible for me to listen the program live, because of the time that it airs at my place (I turn fandom mode off), so I have to wait until it's on YouTube, because my Internet doesn't seem to like Dailymotion so much. And I like to procrastinate a lot
- In each post, I'll provide the links for the previous and following program, so it's easier to find them.
- I'm doing this for fun, because I enjoy listening to them, but also because this helps me with my Japanese. So, I'll be focusing on this year (2017) programs, I've been listening to Rajira! Since I found out about it when translating their unit song, you'll usually hear it in the background during the seducing corner. So, I'm rather new to this whole thing :P
* If it turns out to be a week without Rajira, and I'm not delayed, I'd love to hear suggestions on which older one would be nice to try to translate :D - I'll follow strictly the honorifics they use in the live show because I find them really significant and that shows a lot of things from them. (As in the case how Inoo-chan always calls Hikaru as Hika but in Rajira he usually calls him Yaotome-san haha)
- This is pointless, but I'll mention who is the one with more lines, usually, Inoo-chan, because I get them counted when I replace the tags and I find that data curious.
- Last, I prefer to call Yaotome-kun as Hika, Hikaru, than Yaotome, you'll notice that and I don't really refer to Inoo as Kei so he will be just Inoo. And, I'll put this here since no one is going to read this :P, I sometimes avoid the honorifics when referring to them, simply because it takes more time to write them, and/or the fact that I'm actually older than the boys, so it's fine LOL.
A final warning would be that I'm rather random, so I'll probably add random stuff at the end of the post, but, you can stop reading once you see the links to the previous or following programs lol.
[Edit]: I'm way too behind after I stopped this because of the dorama subbing back in may I think? Well, I'm back, I think. I'll try to do the whole translation for the episodes that I find more fun because each time I get obsessed to get every single utterance they say! I don't know why I'm like that XD But I think I'll try to do the one with Inoo-chan's bday, the one with Mizuki as a guest and all of the episodes with other members until now. I'll try to put all the dates I'm planning on translating in the table above, so I don't forget them :D.
That's all, I tried hard to keep this in a serious and not-random tone, lol
