Weekly Recs 9/17/10
By the time the next Weekly Recs is posted, authors will have a brand new piece of canon with which to play. I'm so excited!

Summary: It doesn't matter that they were complete strangers 72 hours ago; now they share a crucial piece of their own histories. It is enough.
KEW note: The author freely acknowledges that this story's events are highly improbable within NCIS canon, but the feelings of grief and alienation that she conjures feel very true to the characters.

Summary: Sometimes, it's best to just give in.
KEW note: One of those stories that makes you feel good and perfectly happy. Chapter 2 is fantastic.

Summary: Finding a suitable-for-general-audiences quote to summarize this one was a bit difficult. One of the most agonizing stories I've read recently (in a positive way). Alive with energy but ultimately about the failure of emotion.

"Fallen Angels" by Sashile ( sashile) *NEW

Summary: A senior JAG goes missing in Bahrain. A junior pilot falls from the skies. As DiNozzo is trying to find his way as team leader and Gibbs is getting used to a new team, they realize that these two cases may not be unrelated.
KEW note: Chapters 1 and 2 posted. I'm excited to see another story in this excellent series of casefiles. This author brings something extremely unique in her approach to writing NCIS fic: she's in the military. I almost always learn something new from reading her stories. This latest one includes some appearances by JAG characters, but I can vouch for it being understandable to someone who's never seen that series.

KEW note: Chapters 1 and 2 posted. This author has a great talent for bringing out fascinating shades of secondary characters. Here she takes the intriguing concept of how Paloma Reynosa grew up to be the woman she is, and writes a fic to match.

Summary: A Marine appears to have been murdered simply for being gay. When the victim is linked to a member of his team Gibbs is forced to tackle Don't Ask Don't Tell head-on, and it leads him somewhere he never thought he'd go.
