Reid was never meant to die; this was all just a set up! Reid had gotten a call from someone who was supposed to be one of the nurses at Bay City, but it wasn’t. This person knew Reid, but how? Did they work together in Dallas? Reid had worked in Dallas for years, in fact that was where he was recommended to go, was told that they needed his talent and experience straight after he had finished med school.
Chris followed Luke out to his car.
“Luke wait!,” he called out to him.
“NO! Chris, you went to med school with Reid….”
“Yeah…but if you think someone from his past killed him…”
“It all makes sense!…”
“No…it doesn’t, it was a mistake….”
“Chris! Stop being an asshole and think for a minute”
Chris breathed in deeply.
“Luke, I am telling you, yes, Reid was an ass in med school, but he was intensely smart”
“Yeah, I know all that, what I am asking is; who wanted to hurt him?”
“No one. Let it go Luke,” he said firmly.
“Let it go?! You’re telling me to let go of someone I love….?!”
“He is gone Luke, he is not coming back!”
Luke was really starting to get angry at Chris “You had that dream you’re the one that told me about the breaks failing. We wouldn’t have known that without you”
“I just said that because that is what the dream showed me, I didn’t say I believe it”
“WHAT?! So you’re going back on what you saw?”
“Dreams aren’t real Luke, you are an adult”.
“I am an adult but if this gives me a chance to get my sweetheart back, then damn, it I am going to run with it!”
“Even if everyone thinks you’re crazy?”he asked venomously.
Luke smashed Chris in the face. “You don’t deserve Reid’s heart you mother fucker!”
Luke ran to get away from Chris and got into his car, leaving Chris behind!

Luke eventually made it back to Oakdale. Jack was running a scan on the cell phone number found on Reid's cell. It was supposed one of the nurses, but now that they knew that it wasn't, he was trying to discover who it belonged to.
“I should have never have given Chris Reid’s heart,!” Luke said to Holden.
“Why? What did he do?”
“He is being an complete asshole; he thinks I should let this all go!”
“Do you believe something out of this world is happening,?” Holden asked carefully.
“Yes! I really do,” Luke answered.
“Then that is all that matters” Holden put a hand on Luke's shoulder.
“Thanks Dad!”
After about another hour, Jack came back with the results on who the number belonged to.
Luke held his breath, listening to find out.
“It says it belongs to Brandon Ryan”
Luke was shocked out of his mind. Luke was so close to whom he needed and didn’t even know it.
“How could this happen?”
Brandon was Chris's best friend and roommate in med school, and was also Reid's biggest rival. Jack told Luke that Brandon was working in Bay City with his father, “Why does he have a Dallas number, I don’t know…”
“I don’t give care Jack, the point is we know who brought Reid to his end”

Luke went back to Bay City to get Brandon to tell him why.
Chris was there talking to Brandon and that just added more to the fire that was enraging Luke's very being. Holden, Jack, Margo was with him.
Luke really wanted to hit Chris again, but Holden held him back.
Jack was arresting Brandon while doing so, but then Chris's chest started to hurt, a burning sensation.
“Stop faking you stupid asshole!” Luke told Chris.
“I am not lying Luke, my chest hurts, my heart hurts!”
Luke for the first time didn't feel sorry for Chris.
Chris was taken to Oakdale Memorial Hospital because they didn’t want to lose Chris, and Brandon was taken to jail in Oakdale as their crime was done on the boarder of Oakdale.

Chris was in a room at the Hospital and he asked for Luke to come in. Chris was whiter than white and was dying.
Luke didn’t want to see Chris; he could care less about him. Brandon told Luke everything; how Chris was venting to him about Reid and how he wanted to get Reid out of the way! Brandon knew it was wrong but Chris kept on at him about it. Chris never really set up anything, it was all Brandon but Chris was just a guilty as Brandon was.
Luke finally decided to go to Chris’ room.
“Luke?”
“Yeah...”
“I am so so so so so sorry”
“Chris, I don’t believe you, just because Reid is better at what he does doesn’t give you the right to do what you did.”
“I know.”
“So what do you want me to say?”
“I want to apologize.”
“Go on.”
“I am sorry.”
“I don’t believe you” Luke said strongly
“I am!” Chris started to get worse.
“If you were really sorry, you wouldn’t have done it, Chris.”
“Luke...”
“NO! Chris, I am done!” Luke turned to leave, but Chris grabbed his hand.
Chris’s heart took a worst turn, and Luke yelled for John Dixon to come in quickly.
Luke left Chris's room, just as John and Bob came rushing in to help Chris, but it was too late. Chris was dead, and strange enough; Chris’s heart was gone!!
“What the fuck just happened?” Bob asked.
But John was lost for words.
