Chapter 20 MissValentine happily jumped around the city, since there wasn’t any monsters around, it was especially safe.
Eyes glancing at the chatbox, Alexander widened his eyes with a sparkling glint.
“That girl is the worst! She so mean to me! sobz.”
Alexander burst out into laughter. Online lingo?
“She is a freaking backstabber. Park Hyunae, tch. Did you see her clothes on Tuesday? She’s, ugh.”
“Oh, interesting!” Alexander bit his lower lip excitedly. He could even eavesdrop openly! Moving his avatar towards where he saw two dots on the mini map, he tried to join into the conversation as naturally as possible.
“Park Hyunae? The first year slut?!” MissValentine gave a crying face. “She slapped me!”
The two instantly gave angry faces, along with virtual pats. “Someone really needs to teach her a lesson! She acts as if she’s the prettiest in school, and DID YOU SEE THE WAY SHE WINKED AT MR. KIM? I SWEAR, HE PUKED.”
“Seriously!?” MissValentine asked with wide eyes.
“Juicy gossips!” Alexander clapped his hands in excitement. “This game proves to be fun!”
-
“Alexander!” One of the girls in Alexander’s usual clique called out. “You have an account in that game already? What are you called? I want to add you on it!”
“I’m not telling~!” Alexander chuckled. “Figure it out yourself?”
“Hey, no fun!” She pouted, understanding Alexander’s resolve in keeping his identity a secret. “Well, if you decide you need someone to gossip with online, I’m RainbowUnicorns.”
“What?!” A random voice asked, amusement evident in her voice.
The clique laughed at the corny username, while the girl gave a nonchalant look. “Lowers suspicions. Give yourself the nerdiest name you ever heard, and no one would know you’re one of the famous gossip girls in school~!”
Alexander nodded, giving the girl a second glance. She was smarter than what he usually gives her credit for. Almost as smart as him, but only almost.
“Let’s leave that aside.” Another girl cut in quickly before the conversation could continue. “Would anyone want some chocolate truffles?”
“Me! Me!” Alexander held out both hands with the best puppy face. “I’d give you classified information about the corner girl in your English class!”
“Heh, you’re the best.”

Kiseop sighed, once again gently rejected by his colleagues. He had been particularly interested in tea recently and was suggesting to his colleagues about selling it, along with some cupcakes and brownies and whatever else that fitted the whole idea.
They always said how it wasn’t like a school cafeteria to sell something like that.
“But I like it.” Kiseop pouted sadly, quickly keeping his expression when the principal and some guy were walking past.
“This is our cafeteria, and, oh, hello Kiseop.” The principal smiled, doing a quick introduction. “I was just bringing a guest around, so don’t worry, we probably aren’t eating. He’s interested in introducing a store somewhere around, you see. We usually don’t entertain such requests, but because he’s my old friend’s brother and the students are complaining about the lack of variety, you might have another neighbour store soon.”
Kiseop’s mouth fell ajar. What great timing!
“A-A new store?” Kiseop smiled brightly. “Maybe, something like tea and pastries?”
The man looked at Kiseop with interest, slightly smiling. “You’re Kiseop, right?”
Kiseop nodded nervously, wondering what that meant.
“Do you know how to make pastries?”
-
Alexander frantically bit his nails. He’s about to die, he’s about to die!
“Can someone please help me? This monster is killing me!” He quickly typed and clicked on the last potion. “I DON’T WANNA DIEEEEE!”
“Coming~!” Someone said, and the avatar flew into sight, easily killing the monster in a few blows. “There.”
“Thank you!” Alexander made his avatar give a quick smile, before he realised who was the one who helped him. “Oh, MrSoccer?”
“Yeah, hello.” MrSoccer greeted with the same smile. “Haven’t been playing much, huh? I’m level 23 already and you’re only level 15?”
“Because I have a life.” Alexander rolled his eyes.
MissValentine, though, gave a crying face. “It’s so hard to level up, maybe I don’t know how to play this game.”
“I’ll help you!” MrSoccer smiled, adding MissValentine into a party. “Now, we can share EXP. Come on, let’s go into the forest.”
“Thank you!”
As he thought, Alexander smirked. Girls do have benefits by just being a girl.

“I’m in love.” Kevin widened his eyes, clutching his head in horror. “I’m in love!”
He continued freaking out on his bed, frantically doing mathematical sums and poetry analysis when he realised he was really, still, in love. Love - the thing that reduces the number of logical thoughts in your head, the one that causes half the population’s grades to fall dramatically. That awful thing! Kevin screamed louder, horrified.
“What do I do? What do I do?” Kevin cried. “I’m in love with the wrong gender! Wrong person!”
Kevin continued sobbing, realising how the love poem he had read for the twentieth time that day suddenly looked so much more beautiful, made so much more sense.
“ARGH, I’M REALLY IN LOVE!”
-
“Eli, go and sleep!” His mother sighed, folding her arms and looking sternly at the boy. “It’s late, you have school tomorrow.”
“Mom, I’d sleep.” Eli smiled, nodding. “Just a bit more, really. Good night, sweet dreams.”
Eli’s mother eyed him one last time before leaving the boy alone. “You better sleep soon!”
“Yes, yes.”
Eli smiled to himself, continuing with what he had been repetitively doing for the past hours. When a bright flash of light indicated the other avatar had leveled up, Eli’s smile grew wider.
“Congratulations! It’s late now, let’s continue this tomorrow?” Eli typed, letting his avatar have a smiling face.
“Yay! Thank you! Hm, I have some after school things to do tomorrow. The next day?” The other avatar said, giving a questioning look.
“Ah, soccer practice.” Eli replied virtually, slightly disappointed. “Well then, maybe on the weekends?”
“Okay!” The girl replied happily, or at least it seemed that way. “Good night! Sleep tight! Don’t let those bed bugs bite~!”
“Sweet dreams too.” Eli chuckled, unwillingly clicking on the sign out button.
