Mis Snow Man Pimp Post

Apr 01, 2009 00:03

It's so hard writing a pimp post about boys who haven't been exactly pimped enough and half the time, you're trying to guess if the assumptions you've made about the boys were right and like, there are way too many magazines for me to flip through and read and figure out what each of those boys are like. We all got to start somewhere though obviously, because they're a newly formed group (even though they existed and were together for quite some time before they got a new group name) and a lot of people are curious to know more about them.

...or I would hope so. Why else am I doing this? D= I've been meaning to do this, but I'm just so slow (this took me days to put together yo - ask my f-list 8D; ), and like really, I had this idea before Kiyumi even started her NonSana pimp post, okay? =| Kira can prove my point...if she remembered when I randomly told her I wanted to make a pimp post for Mis Snow Man.

Anyways, where on earth do I start yo?

Mis Snow Man. Yea, it's a weird. We all agree. We have no idea where the name came from really. Sometime ago, there was some information floating around saying their group name was Mis Show Man, and the reason for that was the first letters of members' names. Like, Johnny likes that okay? He probably has a lot of time staring at the boys' names and trying to form acronyms and whatnot with the letters. M=Miyadate, I=Iwamoto, S=Sanada, S=Sakuma, H=Fukusawa (because Fu is actually under the Ha column in the language), O=Onodera, W=Watanabe, M=N/A, A=Abe, N=Nozawa. Yea, there's an extra letter. Morita Myuto would have fit in there, but he got placed into Hip Hop Jump instead and well, Johnny had to make the name make sense somehow? Kind of like OSSaN maybe. But then, Shokura proved that all wrong, and these 9 boys were introduced as Mis Snow Man in March 2009.

Where does Fukasawa then fit in all this? I have no idea, but he's still there, so maybe the fact they'll be cool dancing snowmen was more important that the fact that the first letters of their names can fit into the group name?

They were supposedly formed as this new group in January 2009 during Shinshun Takizawa Kakumei (Tackey's stageplay from January 1st-27th 2009), but it was possible they were already using this name before that. Well, Wiki says January 2009. Believe what you want. We just need to all agree the group name is new.

Of course, in no ways are the boys themselves new. They've been working together for quite sometime. They (all 9 of them) were in the group Jr Boys (which is a backdancing group with a super long history with its members constantly rotating and changing) in March 2008, but then MADE was formed and supposedly, they were part of MADE. Then, members changed - MADE became a sub-unit (or otouto unit, whatever) of some sort of MAD - and 7 of them went back to being Jr Boys. Sanada and Nozawa were pulled out to form TOP3 with Hashimoto Ryosuke later, but that also disbanded because of Hashimoto joining A.B.C. turning it into A.B.C.-Z. Morita Myuto was with Jr Boys for a while and you see the 8 boys together in magazines quite often as well, but then, he got pulled out, and Jr Boys was left with the 7 of them again.

Soon though, Sanada and Nozawa were put back together with the 7 of them to backdance together, but it wasn't until Mis Snow Man was formed that they become a formal group of 9 together.

Like I said, it's confusing. Johnny takes forever to make up his mind at times.

Back then, you could only stare at the 9 of them behind other Juniors mainly, but since they're now a proper group, they're slowly getting more spotlight and such, which, of course, is definitely a good thing.

Along with their new group name being announced on Shokura, they also gained an original song of their own. From the performance of No More Wait, you can definitely say the main vocals of the group are Sanada and Nozawa. I have no complaints, though I'm sure we would like to hear the individual voices of the other boys. Before I get to more performances and such, let's go over all the members individually first.

Sanada Yuuma (真田佑馬), born November 21 1992, 16

Because I'm biased, I'm starting with Sana-chan. Koyama called him that, and I fell in love with the nickname. Otherwise, you can call him Sanada, Sanapi, Yuuma, Sanati whatever other names you can think of. Like mentioned before, he's one of the main vocals of the group, and he's been able to hold a mic since late 2007 thanks to Kinpachi-sensei, but before that, he was mainly a backdancer.

He joined the Jimusho in 2004 when he was 11, supposedly February 15th, and in that same year, he was given his first drama role in 四谷くんと大塚くん・天才少年探偵登場の巻 (Yotsuya-kun to Ootsuka-kun ・ Tensai Shounen Tantei Toujou Maki) where he played the main character, Yotsuya Shin. He was really chibi and cute, and I really want to watch the drama, but it's one of those dramas which are just hard to find online.

Soon after, in the autumn of that year, he was placed into Jr Boys and started his backdancing career which is still continuing now obviously, but he gets a lot more spotlight now. Anyways, in 2005, he got another drama role, this time in 1 Litre of Tears with Sawajiri Erika and Nishikido Ryo. He played the brother of Ikeuchi Aya, Ikeuchi Hiroki. Again, he was still adorable, and I really admired his acting even though he was still young. Of course, feel free to disagree. He was unfortunately not part of the Drama Special (only in flashback scenes), most likely because he still looked young and even make up couldn't make him look older, unlike Narumi Riko who played the sister of Ikeuchi Aya, Ikeuchi Ako.

His next drama didn't come until 2007 where he was selected as one of the 4 Johnny's Juniors (others being Kamei Taku, Camyu Cade and Uekusa Yuuta) who participated in 3 nen B-gumi Kinpachi-sensei 8th series. Since that drama has a history of having Johnny's Juniors in its cast, for promotion, whoever gets picked also get more chances to sing with a mic. That's when you got to hear Sana-chan's voice more. He later was placed into a no-name group with Kamei and Hashimoto, but Kamei left the Jimusho, and there was a short blank, until TOP3 was formed (but without a name again until later).

Those aren't his only activities though. He's currently a regular in the show Hyakushiki. He first appeared in 2007, but then Hey! Say! JUMP took over the show for a while, and he was brought back in April 2008. After not seeing him for a while, even Inocchi-sensei (Inohara from V6) commented on how he grew up and that his voice changed.

Personality wise, he's the mood-maker of the group, always bright and cheerful. There's also the part of him that makes people laugh, even though he doesn't mean to be funny (aka tennen). He's not the brightest (intelligence-wise) kid around and sometimes, the things that slip from his mouth (like in Hyakushiki) makes you go ??? and just laugh. If you watch Hyakushiki, the catchphrase they gave him was "the kid who gets teased and hates losing". It's a pretty good summary, really. Don't think of teasing as a bad thing. It's one those, you tease because you love. Think Miyata or Junno, those kind of characters. Even though he's always cheerful, if he happens to become down, depressed whatnot, he actually takes a while to recover from that mood, which is why he thinks of that as a fault of himself.

As a small trivia, his name Yuuma, his parents had decided on that name, like the pronunciation, before they decided on the kanji on his name. Yuu 佑 had the meaning of helping people, and the ma 馬 part was actually just decided by his parents by searching through the dictionary, saw this kanji and decided it was good.

Before I go on forever about Sana-chan, let's move on.

Nozawa Yuuki (野澤 祐樹), born December 30 1992, 16

Non-chan is a nickname the boy would actually react to, but I'm sure fandom has more nicknames for him like Nokkun and whatnot. Like Sanada, he's the main vocal of the group. He really didn't get a chance to hold a mic until TOP3 was formed, so before that, he was more a backdancer only. To me, he was the one Junior who randomly appeared on Hyakushiki back in 2007 and went on outdoor recordings with Sanada in the zoo. I barely knew who he was back then.

He apparently had already joined the Jimusho in 2005 though, on June 12th supposedly. Other than backdancing, his first bigger job came in the form of a movie. In 2006, he played the younger version of the character Miyake Ken played in the movie Oyayuubi Sagashi. You can watch the clip here. If he didn't like Miyake Ken that much then, I'm sure his love for Miyake Ken increased. His dream is to become like V6 apparently.

According to Wiki, he was a submember of the temporary unit Kitty Jr. back in 2006, but I honestly can't remember if that actually happened. When you see Kitty Jr in magazines and all that, it was usually only Yamada Ryosuke, Kyoumoto Taiga and Ito Takumi. Anyways, around that time, he joined Jr Boys and did more backdancing. That same year, he filmed a Flets Light CM with Inagaki Goro from SMAP and you can watch it here.

After that, activities kind of died down, and he continued to backdance and participate in concerts and butais. Like mentioned above, TOP3 happened and he started to get a lot more spotlight and the moment he became a not-quite-official duo with Sanada, his popularity continued to increase.

Other than that, there's not much of his activites off the stage. Even though he was in a few episodes of Hyakushiki back in 2007 (including dressing up as a penguin - which happens to be Sana-chan's favourite animal for you shippers out there), when Juniors came back to show in 2008 after HSJ stopped taking over, he never came back. Oh, he did get the smallest role ever in Sensei wa Erai! though, playing a classmate of Yamada Ryosuke. Did he even get a line? Because like, even if he didn't, his role has a name though. Funny.

Nozawa's a super my-paced person, so at times he acts tennen as well. He's also super shy when it comes to girls especially, a little awkward so whenever he responds to magazine questions dealing with girls, at times, he'd say things like it's hard to imagine, or I won't do well and such. He has a more mature air to him as well, especially if you compare him to Sanada and the rest of the boys. Not as active and more thoughtful, and perhaps get teased for acting super old, compared to his age.

Fukusawa Tatsuya (深澤辰哉), born May 5 1992, 16

Fukka as he's well-known as, is the oldest of the group, but they're all very close in age, so it doesn't really make a difference. In a way, he's one of the members you might have seen more of. Even though he didn't get the most spotlight in the group, Fukka was part of J.J.Express before it disappeared. He didn't get solo lines, but he did sing! Like in Shounen no Mama, he was the one in the white shirt with red sleeves, and like the guy at the end of the formation in Kanjiru Mama You & I. A good thing about being a group that gets more spotlight, there are actually Fukka shop photos around from Junior concerts. There are no newer ones though of course.

Anyways, Fukka actually joined the Jimusho through the open audition that Ya-Ya-Yah (the TV show) hosted back in the summer of 2004. Along with Fukka, Yamada Ryosuke, Morimoto Ryutarou, Abe Ryouhei, and Hashimoto Ryosuke (in a later additional audition) all entered around the same period. Near the end part of this clip, like 4:30, you can see Fukka doing a photoshoot for Wink Up after passing the audition. (In that same clip, you can see Abe Ryouhei doing his little speech about Summary for his audition). Fukka was then placed in JJE in the summer of 2005 and remained until the group disappeared from the stage. After that, he was placed in Jr Boys where he continued to backdance.

Other than the usual backdancing during Shokura, concerts and butais, the only different job Fukka got was an OXY CM where 4 other Juniors (Kato Kan, Miyadate Ryouta, Abe Ryouhei, Ookawa Keigo) were part of along with Tanaka Koki and Akanishi Jin back in 2008.

Fukka never really got a proper chance to talk in front of the camera (though he had a few small chances - no clips to provide unfortunately), but my impression of him that he can be a fun guy, but gets a little shy when a camera is there. According to him, when he first entered the Jimusho, he was so nervous, he didn't manage to befriend anyone. Morimoto Ryutarou, however, started calling him Fukka, and thanks to that nickname, other people started calling him that as well and he was able to get along with the rest of the Juniors better that way. Then of course, he was a kid, of course he'd be nervous around other people when first entering the Jimusho. Another impression of mine, but he'd be one of the responsible ones in the group.

Sakuma Daisuke (佐久間大介), born July 5 1992, 16

To be honest, I remember him as the guy with moles on his face. I don't know much about him. He joined the Jimusho in 2005, on September 25th. He was one of those random backdancing Juniors until he was placed in Jr Boys in 2006. Supposedly, he was another submember of Kitty Jr, but like Nozawa, I don't remember seeing him around at all.

Two things I do remember about him though. One, he adores Yamamoto Ryota and really admires MAD as a group as well, which is probably half the reason he's good at backflips and whatnot, maybe. Apparently, Yamamoto taught him a few moves. Two, he's flexible. During a Jr ni Q with Kei and Taisuke back in 2006 when Taisuke was producing, he showed off his flexibility, which was because he did ballet. If you remember that dance competition they did between Juniors with Kato Kan MC-ing, Sakuma was dancing ballet there, versusing this another Junior who I can't remember.

He's another my-paced guy within the group, and he might beat Nozawa at it, but this needs to get proven first.

Watanabe Shota (渡辺翔太), born November 5 1992, 16

NabeSho entered the Jimusho on June 26th 2005, and before that, he was part of Star Light Studio along with Miyadate where they were backdancers for groups like Lead. He was placed in Jr Boys in 2006 and was supposedly a submember of Tap Kids, but again, in magazines, you only see Nakajima Yuuto, Morimoto Ryutarou, and Kanda Noriyuki. He was shown as a Fresh Junior on the same spread as Tap Kids and Kitty Jr though, if that counts.

You can try searching for NabeSho in the PVs for Seishun Amigo and Fever to Future.

He's one of the funny ones in the group and a moodmaker. I'm not sure where I got the impression from, but I think he's the perviest of the group. Not like, in a bad sense, but just the jokes he would make for fun and whatnot. I might be just imagining it you know.

Onodera Ikki (小野寺一希), born January 16 1993, 16

Onodera entered the Jimusho in 2004, on September 8th. Backdancing, and more backdancing. I remember there was a period of time where he was one of the chibis who hung around Yamada and Yuuto a lot, dancing with them, but I wouldn't remember what songs might that have been. One thing didn't change though - he's still a chibi and short even though he's 16.

He was placed into Tap Kids as a submember - didn't see him around much - then later on that year (2006), he was placed into Jr Boys.

You can watch Onodera on Jr ni Q back in 2005. Just forward to about 3:25 and you'll see chibi!Onodera being nervous. The theme was 'What's Your 'Cherish' (thing)' and Onodera wrote 'people I love'...but when asked to explain...he says 'It's me'. A cute kid with much confidence in himself then? Being in front of the camera is still nerve-wrecking though as he doesn't really look into it at points. He's one of those energetic kids as well.

Miyadate Ryouta (宮舘涼太), born March 25 1993, 16

While like NabeSho, Miyadate used to be part of Star Light Studio and backdance for groups like Lead, he entered the Jimusho a little later on October 1st 2005. Supposedly, he was a sub-member of Kitty Jr and was placed into Jr Boys at around the same period.

You can try searching for Miyadate in the PV of Fever to Future. He joined a little too late to be part of the Seishun Amigo PV, otherwise, he would have been part of it.

Like mentioned before, along with 4 other Juniors, Miyadate was part of an OXY CM.

For his personality, I'm not too sure, but I do know he's one of the ones who are better at acrobatics within the group. Impression wise, he seems very fun and energetic, playful whatnot.

Iwamoto Hikaru (岩本ひかる/岩本照), born May 17 1993, 15

Iwamoto used to be a child actor and appeared in stage plays and CMs, until he joined the Jimusho on October 1st 2006. Check out a chibi photo of him in this post (second scan).

There was a period of time where he started to appear with JJE, making people think he was becoming a new member of that group, but that never became official. There are performances of him with JJE though, along with magazine appearances as well. Also, in 2007, during Tackey & Tsubasa's X~Dame~ concerts, he was chosen along with Sanada, Nozawa and Senga Kento to be a temporary backdancing group for Tackey & Tsubasa. They appeared in an issue of Wink Up together and at the very beginning of the talk, Senga talked about how the dance instructor had said, they've gathered a group of tennen people, or as Sana-chan says, a group of idiots, so that might tell you a bit about Iwamoto's character. As well, that same period of time, he joined Jr Boys.

With his tennen characteristic, of course also comes certain qualities like being funny. Members of the group seem to really think he's funny and enjoy being around him a lot. He's a little on the careless side as well, not looking around his surroundings properly at times. Hence, you can call him accident prone, really.

Abe Ryouhei (阿部亮平), born November 27 1993, 15

Lastly, it's Abe. As mentioned before, he joined the Jimusho in the summer of 2004 through the open audition of Ya-Ya-Yah. At the first part of this clip, you can see him saying a small speech as an audition to get a part in the opening of Summary. Ever since 2006, he has been placed in Jr Boys and backdancing.

Again, there was the OXY CM he was part of as mentioned twice above.

The only impression I have about Abe is that he looks older than his age just a little, but apparently, he can be quite the mystery to fellow members as well.

This is just random reference, but within groups, they like putting members in what's called a symmetry. It's based on the sense of balance, so really, if you have a symmetry within a group, your roles are somewhat similiar and often you might be paired together to things. If you think KAT-TUN, Kamenashi and Akanishi are symmetry. In News, Koyama and Shige are symmetry. In Kis-My-Ft2, Kitayama and Taisuke are symmetry.

Symmetry Members
Nozawa Yuuki - Sanada Yuuma
Fukusawa Tatsuya - Iwamoto Hikaru
Onodera Ikki - Abe Ryouhei
Miyadate Ryouta - Sakuma Daisuke

Watanbe Shota is left floating around because there are an uneven number of 9 members.

Performances

Guide for No More Wait
Because, the first thing you must do is watch No More Wait plenty of times...with help from this guide (click on the link!) because I have literally labelled where the boys are every 20 seconds. IT'LL HELP YOU RECOGNIZE THEM, especially those who think MSM dances too fast for you. I literally slapped labels on to screencaps so you know who's on screen.

No More Wait - their first original song, just watch it numerous times
Then of course, the mp3 rip for you to listen to numerous times!
(thanks to ssm_kiyumi for ripping and uploading because I'm too lazy)

Okay, next. There are not a lot of MSM performing really. They're rarely on their own and it's not all the time they get to sing in the group opening or closing songs as well. Also, since Abe and Iwamoto are still 15, they actually don't appear in some closing songs because they can't appear on stage working after 8:00pm.

Seiten no Hekireki - which was hot, so watch
Jumpin' Up - just skip Gloria at the beginning, this was performed with Hip Hop Jump and Takada Sho and gang
Lucky Man - skip Sunadokei, this was performed with Hip Hop Jump
Sakura Sake - with a whole bunch of other Juniors

I told you there weren't a lot, especially available online since not a lot of stuff are cut out from Shokuras and uploaded to streaming sites. It would probably be smart to go check out shokura and see what video clips are available for download. Then for reference where Jr Boys might be holding a mic, you can check out my Shokura charts...though they needed to be updated first with recent episodes. If you don't mind searching the boys behind other Juniors though, then, just download lots of performances, in and outside of Shokura. Jr Boys are around a lot.

Some recent ones include KAT-TUN on MS singing RESCUE and like, Yabu/Hikaru performaces on Hi! Hey! Say! etc.

Translations

Not too much exist. (One excuse might be...they don't get crosstalks often and crosstalks are often more interesting to translate...?) Translations are done by whoever the links lead you to. Credit goes to them. There are also TOP3 translations out there, but I can't be bothered at the moment. You can always go check the SanaZawa pimp post instead for the links.

Scans

I can't remember where half of my scans come from, but definitely princekira has scanned a good amount of them and you can check out jrboys specifically for the links to her scans. For Fukka older stuff, of course, check out jjexpress. For Sana-chan and Nozawa, go to top_3. You may want to try out boys_paper for some miscellaneous scans as well.

I have TOP3 Summary shop photos scans here, and I'm also scanned some Sanada paparazzi photos, but I have to remember which post I put them in. Just check my tags and click on Sana-chan's name?

The following are my scans. Please credit shatteredtenshi if ever used. I didn't dare bending my magazines too much, so some text are cut off (and like NabeSho and Abe cut in two scans ;~;), but that's okay, right? The pics are much more important. And like, it's HQ?

First, some cosplaying. From Potato. Dec 07, March 08, May 08, August 08 respectively.

From March 09 magazines. Potato (NonSana only), Duet, Wink Up.

From April 09 magazines. Duet, Wink Up.

Fan-Fics

Well, they're part of Johnnys. Fan-fics can't be avoided.

First, you have the OTP of Mis Snow Man, which a lot of people support. To make it easier for me...

SANAZAWA PIMP POST ♥

There are not a lot of Jr Boys fics around at all.

lrigelbbub - Fic Archive - lots of fics with Fukka, but there are some of NonSana, TOP3, etc
tsudzukeru - more focus on JJE, hence pairings including Fukka

...uh, well, my fics.
Away from Peeking Eyes - Nozawa Yuuki x Sanada Yuuma
A Kiss for a Kiss - Watanabe Shota x Sanada Yuuma

And if that wasn't enough Mis Snow Man for you...

Edits are welcome. It'd be scary if I knew everything about them, which is so not true. I don't.

I'll go back to trying to spot then-Jr Boys behind Arashi in Kokuritsu then.
