I thought I should make a happy post
I finally met fantom07 in person last night. We were both dining at Brick, and she emerged from the bathroom while I was waiting. "Barry?" "Margaret?" What a sweet gal! It was totally one of those "San Francisco is the biggest small town" moments.

Buried
We buried Dad this morning. Well, committed him to a mausoleum, anyway. It's been a grueling almost-week, but I want to thank everyone for the kind comments. I don't have the energy to respond to them individually, but I read them all and appreciate them very much ( Read more... ) -
Stuck
Thanks for the well wishes, everyone. They helped me a lot.
I am stuck at the Denver Airport. I missed my connecting to Columbus due to a wind sheer issue, and I'm waitlisted for a 10am flight tomorrow morning after standing in line for four hours.
Oh, and every single restaurant here is closed.
Pretty sure this is the worst weekend of my life.

Dad
I learned last night that my dad died unexpectedly, apparently of a heart-related incident. Turns out his health was much worse than most of us knew.
My mom is a gem and will be there for us, but since my parents were divorced, the planning falls on myself and my siblings.

LASIK Update
I had my three-month post-op LASIK exam today.
Prognosis: Everything is "lookin' good." Visual acuity is 20/20. Three months ago, the optometrist said I had better than 20/20 but not quite 20/15 vision. I don't think I've degraded any, as I'm still able to make out half the letters on the 20/15 chart as I'd done previously. I think the ( Read more... ) -

I'm self-imposing a moratorium on all exposure to Octomom-related media.
She's on the tee-vee, she's on the internet. I can't even go to Safeway without those collagen-plumped, Jolie-esque lips mocking me from the cover of a People magazine in the checkout line. The very sight of her face makes my blood pressure rise.
