  Title: Uneasy Threads
  Rating: NC-17
SGB’s comment   Wonderful angsty postwar fic.  I want to tell you whether it is satisfying or not, but my personal answer to that question is why I love this story so much.  So much.

Author: ophiosaur
Title: Had My Head in the Over So You’d Know Where I’ll Be
  Rating: PG
SGB comment  Artful, semi-stream of consciousness piece, snapshotting moments through Snafu’s war and after. Captures that oppressive feeling I had in the days right after watching the Pacific (and most war films) - just stewing in the unfathomableness, trying to wrap one’s head around it, realizing even if you were there you maybe didn’t wrap your head around it

Author: padattack
Title: the tide that left (and never came back)
  Rating: R
SGB’s comment  Snafu POV in-canon. Tentative, angsty, manpainy.  almost cute.  Of course, there isn’t anything cute about being an infantry Marine in the Pacific, so I hesitate in case of overstating cuteness.  A look at what it is about Eugene, and what it is about being in a hellish war that gets Snafu wanting them together.  Includes wonderful foxhole closeness.

Author: poutmeter
  Title: Dirge for Dress Blues
  Rating: PG-13
SGB’s comment   Schmoopy postwar cute beginnings of getting together - Snafu shows up at the dance in Mobile.

Title: Never was about you
  Rating: R-ish
from this prompt: Despite his harsh exterior Snafu can't help but be tender with Sledge.
SGB’s comment  Snafu POV - how he falls for Sledge during the Pacific

Title: Just enough
  Rating: PG-13
SGB’s comment   Postwar hurty get together awesomeness.

Title: All kinds of time
  Rating: PG-13
SGB’s comment   Another where you might think you’re scraping the internet’s outer edges desperate for more Snafu/Sledge.  It IS that if that’s what you are doing, but it’s also Snafu talking with Doc Roe from Band of Brothers, which is great, really, cause, oh ROE that’s a whole other kink…anyway….

Author: Purplewhales
Series Title: Notes From My Inner Pocket
  Rating: PG-13
SGB’s comment  This is really not slash without squinting about as hard as you can, but it is really well-written Sledge POV war angst and at minimum touches on his bromance with Snafu.  Honest - read this.  It reminds you how elements of the Pacific canon are so hurty, so good.

  ***Unique M/M/M threesome!!!***

Author: sempiternities
Series Title: All the Things We Care About
  Rating: R
SGB’s comment  A great in-canon fic that tosses back and forth POV between Sledge and Snafu.  Truly delightful.   Spot-on characterizations.

Part 1: Why it would never last for eternity (Snafu POV)

It starts on the way back to Pavuvu…

Part 2: How Whisperings Engrave the Skin (Sledge POV)

My personal favorite part of the 4 parts.  Sledge develops this “game of touches” with Snafu, as partial distraction as they cope with having lived through Peleliu, but also with great elements of the danger and need in Snafu.  Yummy.

Part 3: What We Will Remember (Snafu POV)

Hotness and angst.  Puts the “oh!” into Okinawa.  Yeah, I said it.  So slap me.

Part 4: The heartbeats we left behind beneath the ocean (Sledge POV)

Sex and love and war and angst.  What else are you looking for?

  Title: A for Effort
SGB’s comment  OK, so this on is the tiniest bit a crossover with Generation Kill, but it’s seriously 99.9% PWP.  Honestly the setting, the briefly mentioned GK characters don’t matter…so, yeah, I’m breaking my “non-AU” only rule, but if you don’t know GK you’ll never know, and if you do, just close your eyes and watch the Sledge/Snafu hotness…you’ll never care.

Author: sevendeadlyfun
   Title:   All Darkness and Silence
    Rating; Adult
SGB’s comment: This lovely slice or so of time is a fine little package of the intensely visceral angst of war and a Sledge/Snafu-style remedy for that.

Author: skylilies
  Title: When We Were Lions
  Rating: G
SGB’s comment Snafu’s hopeless head postwar.

Title: World Looks Bent Like I’ve Got Shotglass Eyes
  Rating: PG
  SGB’s comment  Foxhole closeness ficlet

Title: Made Me Homesick
  Rating: PG
SGB’s comment  Foxhole closeness ficlet, companion piece to “World Looks Bent Like I’ve Got Shotglass Eyes." Lovely work.

Title: Ain’t Dead Yet
  Rating: PG-13
SGB’s comment  Moody postwar traumatized Sledge/Snafu fic.  Descriptions of Snafu’s behavior are particularly compelling/odd/correct/keysmash and I just wanted to wrap up Sledge in a blankie and pet him.

Author: slattern
  Title: Leave Your Mark
SGB comment: [this comment interrupted by eyes rolling back into my head from *UNF* hotness]

Author: softshinythings
Title: We Look Younger Than We Feel (And Older Than We Are)
  Rating: PG13
SGB’s comment   This is Part 3 of her War’s End ‘verse, which is Ack-Ack/Hillbilly (and delightful at that - really really), but this particular part includes a Sledge/Snafu plot that is fairly well attended to.  In this Sledge/Snafu-starved world, you take every scrap you find.

Author: someonesgrlbomb (hells yeah I pimp myself)
  Title: Sleep Aid
  Rating: NC-17

SGB’s comment  My 5 part in-canon take on the epic love and naughtiness of Sledge/Snafu

Title: Let the Fires Bathe Us
  Rating: NC-17
SGB’s comment   On Pavuvu between battles, Sledge processes his anger and Snafu helps.  ***Only M/F/M Threesome I know of in Sledge/Snafu, but the price of admission to that kink here is enduring the noncon I also included. Sorry...so much is probably wrong with me...***

Author: sosimplestars
  Title: Finding Home
  From pacifickink promt: postwar healing
  Rating: PG

Author: Spirograph
SGB’s general comment on Spirograph: This author’s fics seem to be locked, at least through LJ, but easy enough to get access to and worth the 2 seconds it takes to join.  Spirograph’s works are intense.

Title: I Say Fever
  Rating NC-17
SGB’s comment  Oneshot battlefield need/want/release of tension.  Snafu (“smoked his weight in cigarettes”) is so dead on.  You feel Sledge’s raw want in your bones.  BEST CHARACTER+PORNY LINE EVER: “Sledge has never been much for swearing, but from Snafu's mouth it sounds like poetry and his whole body sings at the sound of it.”  ***Possibly MY ACTUAL FAVORITE Sledge/Snafu fic***

Title: Hey That’s No Way to Say Goodbye
  Rating: NC-17
  SGB’s comment  Crossdressing fun.

Title: The Trick is to Keep Breathing
  Rating: NC-17
SGB’s comment   Wonderful oneshot in-canon battlefield get together fic.

Title: Pipe
  Rating: R
SGB’s comment  Snafu gets a kink for Sledge’s pipe.

Title: Falling, Catching
  Rating: PG-13/R
SGB comment: Hurty, beautifully written postwar exploration of life in Sledge’s head when Snafu shows up at his house and stays a while

Author: teaspoonery
  Title: Heed our imperfect hearts
  Rating: NC-17
SGB’s comment  Another take on what their ‘ship was in-canon.  Awesome angst.  Really a lot of well written porn, too; meaning, the writing is good AND the porn is hot, not merely well-described, which often is more than enough for me.  Kind of perfect, really.

Title: bring on the silence

Rating: PG-13
  SGB’s comment  Ouchy postwar fic.

Author: thedrunkmonk

Title: untitled drabble

PG-13/R

SGB comment:  Postwar sigh-worthy drabble.  And I love the author’s note: “these two I hate these two”

Author: thoracopagus
Title: all these young men also posted as “these young lions”)
  Rating: R
SGB’s comment   Beautiful stream-of-consciousness, daring as hell Snafu POV get-together in-canon fic.  Some of the most poetic prose in Sledge/Snafu fandom, if not THE MOST.

See more thoracopagus in  Roadverse

Author: Uniformly
Title: Standing on the Edge of Summer
  Rating: PG-13
SGB’s comment   Ambiguously slash, maybe more bromance but you can decide.  Lovely postwar war-angst Sledge POV.   Great point is made about how thirsty Peleliu was vs. how overflowing in water Okinawa was

Author: zarimav
Title:  Sigh no more, no more, one foot on sea, one on shore
   Rating: PG
SGB comment: After reading this delight, this well-packaged tour through the dangerous attraction Snafu was for Sledge, arcing into postwar but staying in the Pacific timeline (think "dance in Mobile"), I fantasize I will make a little "brain explode" icon.  This icon would be applied to this and all the other fics that were an author coping with the miniseries and the compelling pain of the pairing, in hopes of processing the brain explosion some, then moving on with life (perhaps also reading all fics available, twice, or so).   (Of course I also need a little foxhole icon for all the foxhole antics stories.)  (I will probably never make icons to decorate an entry).

Multi-author “Roadverse” explained here
SGB’s comment:  Roadverse is angsty postwar slashy-slash Sledge/Snafu so grand it took two brilliant authors.
