50 Seunghyun was lying Taemin in the backseat and Jiyong was climbing in the driver's side. Onew watched them as the excessively nice car reversed out of the driveway. His broken car was parked just across the street, and he kept his head down by the steering wheel as they passed.
'Shit', was his thought. On one hand it seemed like he'd have to leave Taemin, who seemed to be in no good condition, on his own again. But even more than that, if vampires were in Taemin's house, it was almost too dangerous to go hang out next door. If one of them listened well enough and heard Minho talking with his parents...
"Shit." he said it out loud, scowling.
He looked to his side, at Minho shivering in his sleep. He needed to get inside, whether it was dangerous or not.
"Wake up." Onew said, gently shaking Minho by his shoulder.
Minho opened his eyes slowly, and drew in a shaky breath when he looked at Onew. "Are we there?"
"Yeah." Onew bent down, pulling his shoes off. "I'll give you these so you can... Minho?" When he straightened up, Minho had already pushed the car door open, and was getting out while pulling Onew's coat on.
Onew got out too, clutching onto his shoes. "What are you doing?"
"Going to see my family." Minho answered, keeping his arms around himself as he walked to the door. Onew frowned, hurrying to catch up with him. "I was giving you my shoes first."
"I just want to be inside, Onew.."
Minho sounded so tired, Onew could only feel pity. He put a supportive arm around him and guided him to the door. "There's a key," Minho said, "On top of the light."
The light by the front door was squarish, perfectly flat on top. Onew raised a brow, thinking it was a pretty easy place to find a key, but thought there wasn't much reason in a neighborhood like this for them to be concerned anyway. He reached up, taking it and hurriedly unlocking the door.
Minho went in first, and as his feet hit the carpet, he immediately called out "Mom! Dad!"
"Shh!" Onew said.
"Why?" Minho looked at him.
Onew frowned.
Minho shook his head, stepping further into the living room and yelling again. Onew cringed and pulled the door quickly shut. Minho didn't want to barge into his parents bedroom. He sat on the couch, and quickly laid down. "Onew. I need a blanket."
Onew walked swiftly to Minho's bedroom. As he was in there, Minho's dad walked into the room, eyes widening at the sight on the couch. "Minho? Are you okay?"
"Please get mom. I have to talk to you both."
His dad, always awkward talking to his sons one on one anyway, was quick to hurry and find Minho's mother. Onew returned to the room, covering Minho with the blanket that was still on what was still very much Minho's bedroom.
"I'll let you talk to them alone."
He was a bit surprised when Minho nodded and said, "Thank you." He'd expected more like, "You started this you better not leave me on my own to explain it blah blah blah.."
It didn't matter, anyway. Though Onew would rather not deal with the situation, he'd hear (and feel) it all. Still, when Minho's parents stepped into the room, he only glanced at them with a frown before he disappeared back into Minho's bedroom.
It was sad to listen to Minho telling his parents he needed to leave the country, while his mom worried over his health and said he didn't look good. His dad simply said he couldn't go, and of course he insisted that 'he had to'.
He listened to his parents insist he spend more time with them first, that he at least see his brother first. Minho's voice cracked when he said he couldn't wait.
The most painful part was listening to Minho's parents accuse him, the "fool that got Minho into the mess and can't fix it". Onew scowled. In a perfect world, humans wouldn't dare say such things. Older than him or not.
But they were right.
Switching countries would change it all. Dara had sided with him, so if he went to the Philippines, wouldn't it be more vampires like that? He and Minho would live like a normal bonded pair. Even if Minho didn't like it at first, he'd get used to it. He'd started to get used to things, hadn't he?
Onew frowned and walked to the window he'd first climbed through to meet Minho. He pushed navy curtains aside and stared outside. Rather than staying here listening to this drama, he could go figure out where Taemin was being taken by those weird vampires he recognized from kicking his ass.
Of course, if he got caught, the vampires would know Minho wasn't far and if they told someone...
Taemin wasn't worth losing Minho. He was just hunter trash now anyway. The only destiny he could have would be a gruesome one. He'd sounded near death. If he died, he'd be better off.
Onew pondered whether or not he should track Taemin down and kill him then. It did bother him to think of the kid being tortured. Because he was useful. Well, because Minho liked him.
... He'd pretty much been asking for it since they met, really. That bloodwhore makeup. Maybe he deserved this.
Onew scowled at his own conflicting thoughts, and sharply turned away from the window. He told himself to think nothing more about Taemin. Minho was much more important, and Minho would never have to know about any of this.
Then, he heard a car.
Onew turned back, watching a cab pull up behind their broken back window car. It was black, and one of those stupid familiar hunters was getting out of the passenger's seat. Onew bared his fangs, shoving the window open and quickly hopping out.
He ran across the yard to meet with Jungmo, who he could see glaring towards him and pulling something shiny from his pocket. So he stopped, still several feet away.
"Taemin isn't there." Onew said, as loud as he could dare. "I think vampires are. A few of them, including Key."
"Why should I trust you?"
"I tried to help you. Sorry my plan wasn't good enough." Onew wrinkled his nose.
Jungmo huffed and held a knife out threateningly, "Where's Taemin?"
"I don't know. Two vampires carried him into a car, and I smelled blood. He needs your help. And you need to get away from here."
Jungmo looked between Onew and Taemin's house. "You tried to tell Jay last time where Taemin was. But he'd already saved himself."
"Yeah," Onew said, "That's right."
Jungmo nodded, and Onew watched the blade he held sink into the hilt of his knife. "If he isn't where I think he'll be, I'm coming back."
Onew scowled, "I told you I don't know where he is--"
"I guess I'm smarter than you." Jungmo glared and turned away, walking back to the car.
It was good enough, Onew guessed, and he turned to go back to Minho's. Taeyang stood outside of Taemin's house, and called out, "Onew?"
"Shit.."
