50 It was an incredibly nice car, with a 'new car' smell and floors you could probably eat off of. Minho leaned back in the spacious backseat, covered in an extra coat and gazing tiredly out the window as scenery flew by.
Key had said, as they boarded into the car, that it would be a long ride. Onew had yet to ask exactly where they were going, and Minho found himself not wanting to talk to either of them. Onew sat right by his side, with no seatbelt - because after all he wasn't going to be dying in any car crashes. Not likely, anyway.
He was low in blood, and Minho could fortunately feel that his vampire was craving, well, him. It's half the reason he kept his eyes steadily focused on the window, and refused to see Onew looking at him like he was a piece of meat.
"Do you two have to be so fucking quiet?" Key asked after a while. Minho turned his head to watch the driving vampire pull a piece of gum out of a pack that rested between the front seats. He was wondering if it was hard, or dangerous, to chew gum with fangs, and made a note to ask Onew about it later. But now, he stayed quiet, turning his head once again to look outside.
"Is there something you want to talk about, Key?" Onew asked.
"I heard they put you in a cell with Jonghyun. How is he?"
"Less good now than he was before~." Onew said, grinning happily. "You know, some of this blood on me, it's his."
"Classy." Key muttered.
"He kind of helped me escape. What's up with that? Were you two in on this together?"
"No, he's just a disgrace." Key said lightly.
Onew sighed, and crossed his arms over his chest. "Are you taking me where I think you're taking me?"
"Noh's house." Key said.
"Minho needs heat, and food, and rest..."
"Heechul keeps the place like it was. He stays there sometimes. It has heat, and food, and several beds."
"We're going to.. your sire's house?" Minho asked, hesitantly looking to Onew.
"It isn't his house now, since I killed him." Onew said, and watched Key's hands tighten on the steering wheel with a sense of satisfaction.
"You know, I really hope your bonded takes inspiration from you."
"It was nicer when it was quiet." Minho said, turning his attention back to the window. "Well get over it." Key responded, fully irritated. But Onew gently touched a hand to Minho's shoulder, softly saying, "I'm sorry."
When Minho looked at him, meeting those soft eyes, he frowned. "It's fine."
Onew's mouth twitched, almost a smile, and then Key interrupted what might have been a moment by turning on the radio. The reception was awful, but Key didn't bother to change the station. He just let the voices dipping in and out of static talk on, obviously to be annoying.
"Is it far?" Minho asked, almost hoping to break the thick tension that radiated from Onew as he gave Key a constant dirty look.
"You can't understand.. can you, human?" Key asked, chuckling a little.
"Can't understand?" Minho asked, unsure of what it was he couldn't understand. Not that it mattered, because Key was swift to explain.
"The radio. You can't make out what they're saying, but we can."
Minho looked to Onew.
"They're talking about Taemin." Onew said simply, "Apparently there was some famous internet video of him begging people to come save him. They're saying he's dead now."
"But he's not." Key said, and then added, "Well, probably not."
"Probably not?" Minho asked.
"They're saying that he was murdered by his captors, but it's simply not true, since I sent him off in a car. Of course, he was drugged, so it's possible he died in a crash."
"After everything he's been through, Taemin.. did not die in a car crash." Minho said firmly. "But why did you send him off?"
"So he would live. You're welcome."
"He did it so I wouldn't tell on Noh." Onew said simply. "Isn't that right?"
"I sure as fuck didn't do it because I like that little.." Key put his window down for a split second, violently threw his chewed piece of gum from it, and put it up again. Minho gave him an odd look, wondering if throwing a piece of gum was very stress relieving.
Apparently it wasn't, or at least it wasn't good enough, because after a short moment, Key decided to unnecessarily punch the steering wheel. Amazingly, the airbag didn't pop out. So as if Minho wasn't afraid enough of the driver, he now had a slight fear of the car.
"You could have left him. You gave me the address for the place. Don't you think that was enough?" Onew asked, smirking.
"Thanks for trying to make me feel better," Key said sarcastically, and added, "But no, I don't think you would have considered the fact that I gave you an address when the council was asking you whether or not you gave Jonghyun his human memories."
"Maybe true." Onew said, and it was his turn to direct his attention away, but Minho quickly grabbed it.
"The radio is really talking about Taemin, Onew?"
"Yeah." Onew said, "They're making a big deal out of it."
"We need to find Taemin." Minho said. "He could be in trouble, if he's famous like that he won't last long without any help. And when Hongki told me the way to go, he asked me to protect him.."
Onew huffed, "If he's smart at all, he'll be hiding. How do you propose we find him?"
"I don't know, but we have to look."
"You're too sick to look. And I have something to do now." Onew nodded his head towards Key. "We'll deal with him after we're through our own problems."
"Our problems are endless." Minho said.
Onew's voice softened, and he said, "You focus on feeling better. I'll focus on getting rid of Key."
"I'm in the car." Key said.
"Helping Key." Onew corrected himself, shrugging, "and getting rid of him as soon as I'm done. Then we worry about Taemin."
Minho leaned his head against the window, which was cold - but a relief against his feverish forehead. He huffed a large white spot against the window, shutting his eyes. However much longer this car ride would be, he had a sudden urge to sleep through it.
