50 Onew felt defeated. It was something like the final straw, where he just felt like he'd reached his limit on lucking out of shit. He was used to having no plan, but this was different. He didn't know what to do, he just, saw no way out of the situation. Save for pleading, and he wasn't sure how to do that.
"Who was that?" Taeyang watched the cab Jungmo had returned into, suspicious. It was the hunters, and it was like Taeyang knew that automatically - he'd skipped the "what are you doing here?"
Onew frowned at him thoughtfully, but soon knew the only plan was one that involved throwing them away. Minho was still much more important than they were, after all. "It was the hunters. They took me with them here and made me tell them whether or not you were inside. They're looking for Taemin."
Taeyang glared, "They just left you here?"
"They seem to think they know where he is now. But I don't know where they think that is." Onew scowled, "I have to help them. You know how bad I've got it with The Council. They're useful."
Onew could see Taeyang soften at his words, and knew why. Taeyang and him were once on friendly terms because of their hatred for The Council. With that in mind... "Are you attacking them for The Council?"
Taeyang frowned, "We need to be on better terms with them ourselves. My leader's childe is in a bit of trouble with them, to put it simply."
"Can you.." Onew asked, ".. not tell anyone you saw me here?"
"I need to catch up to those hunters.." Taeyang gave Onew a stern look, "If you're telling the truth, you'll come with me and help."
"Didn't I say they were useful?"
"I guess I'll tell then."
"Taeyang," Onew readied himself for a fight, "I need to get back to my bonded."
The other vampire looked to be contemplating as he stared at Onew. After a short few seconds, he sighed, and said, "Fine, we're cool. Get out of here before someone else spots you."
Before Onew moved, Taeyang did, walking hurriedly down the street, likely in search of a vehicle. Onew waited until he was out of sight before he breathed a sigh of relief and rushed back to Minho's house, climbing in through the window.
Minho walked through his bedroom door with odd timing, looking at Onew with pink, wet eyes. "What were you doing outside?"
Onew shut the window, "Nothing."
"Dad is calling a cab."
"Well come on," Onew stepped swiftly to Minho, putting a hand on his shoulder. "You should be laying down and talking to your parents and whatever.."
Before Onew could start leading the way out of the room, Minho grabbed onto him in a sudden hug, laying his head on his shoulder. His voice was quiet, saying, "It's hard to look at them, Onew. I'm so tired.."
Onew stiffened, and hesitantly reached around to touch the back of Minho's head. He wasn't exactly sure what to tell Minho, considering he didn't want to deal with the parents either, although he knew Minho would regret every second he didn't spend with them before they had to go...
Finally, he scowled. "Let's stay the night. You need the rest anyway, and it'll be better for you if you can say bye to your parents without looking like trash. They don't wanna remember you like that."
"Will it be okay?"
"Yeah. Go tell them you're staying."
"Can my brother come?"
Onew wrinkled his nose, "It'll look too suspicious right now."
Minho pouted, stepping back from Onew, but nodded. "Okay. ah.. ah.."
Onew jumped behind the door, hiding from Minho's sneeze. When it was over, he peeked out at him, narrowing his eyes. "You need rest."
"I got it. Just stay in here." Minho said, turning away. "I don't think my parents want to see you."
"Good, because I don't want.. whatever."
Minho gave him a look, and then left the room.
Onew closed the door behind him and walked back over to the window, sitting down next to it and listening very closely. Now that they were going to be here for longer, he'd simply have to be the look out. And if the hunters were dragged back into the house next door, he would have to ignore it. No matter what.
He nodded to himself, then sighed.
